Belle's PL: 32,000 Aura Block: Set to 100
Belle sat in the midst of the Tuffle camp, kicking her feet idly as she sat on a bench. After the initial rocky start and misunderstanding with the Tuffles, they had at least tentatively decided to tolerate her presence. She wondered if Tarch was getting worried wherever he was right now. Well, a quick message with her telepathy would sort that out. Besides, she wasn't so sure that the Tuffles would take kindly to Tarch bursting in unannounced. For better or worse, he was a Saiyan too. Part Saiyan. An Earth Saiyan. That made him better... in her books. But probably not theirs. People were different. And Belle was sick to death of trying to get people to ignore their prejudices. She couldn't do it, and it hadn't ended well for her the last time she had tried. Her eyes glowing faintly green, Belle used her telekinesis to lift Daisy off of her head. The little saibanut hissed in protest as she tried to vainly swim through the air. Belle dropped her gently into her outstretched hands, which earned her an irate nip from Daisy. With something akin to a huff, Daisy toddled off and jumped onto the bench beside Belle, curling up and going to sleep. Belle smiled faintly at Daisy. She was a little bored, and she definitely didn't want to get lost in her own thoughts again. That always led her nowhere good. Lifting up some nearby rocks with her telekinesis, Belle swirled them around in front of her, making them do complex maneuvers. It reminded her a bit of the times that Mister Lord Chill had taught her space chess or when her uncle had taught her that battle game with the figurines. Despite the cirumstances, those had both been better times compared to now. She was alone now. They were gone. Dead and gone. And if she wanted to bring them back, she'd have to wait. The loneliness was weighing heavily on her. Belle shot one of the rocks off into the distance away from the camp. Maybe if she had something more flexible to practice with, she could try manipulating something more finely. Hm. Belle looked at her hand and wiggled her fingers. Maybe she could use telekinesis on her own body? Her body was weak physically, but maybe she could... fix that with telekinesis. It was worth a try.

Keeping up a patrol for the camp was, in all liklihood, not strictly necessary. Namek had proven a very peaceful planet and the Namekians held no interest in trying to drive them off their world, in fact they were exceedingly hospitable, but old habits die hard and the Tuffle trio had spent many years under the thumb of a war with an enemy that often refused to relent. The fact that same enemy maintained a presence on this planet even if not exceptionally active, meant there was no chance for the trio to rest easily without someone keeping watch over their makeshift home. Korla was returning from a bit of scouting and as she entered the camp she tensed at what she saw. A Saiyan. It took her a moment to recognize it as the young Saiyan girl that Duran had found and taken a surprising liking to. Korla had not gotten much of a chance to interact with the child but her presence still served to make her just a bit uneasy. By Duran’s claims she was just as much a victim of the Saiyans as they were, but even still it felt… off… to just let her roam free in their camp. They had already encountered ONE Saiyan that did not fit the standard of ‘dumb boorish brute’ in the form of Carro, it WAS possible that in addition to at least one smart Saiyan, there were a few capable of the subtleties needed for being a spy. Though of course that required that the Saiyans would know that they needed to be spying on them. Perhaps it was just paranoia speaking… “Hello Belle” Korla finally stepped forward deciding that simply ignoring the child served no actual benefit regardless of what her overall intentions were. If Belle WAS a spy of some sort it was technically to Korla’s benefit to interact with her more, to give herself a better chance of determining if Belle was a threat to them or not.

As it turned out, moving her own body with telekinesis without hurting herself was quite the task. Belle winced as she moved one of her fingers the wrong way, rubbing it to make it feel better. Lifting and moving heavy things was difficult enough by itself, but having the concentration to finely manipulate lots of different parts was a whole other beast. Belle huffed with mental exhaustion, deciding to take a break. Glancing around the Tuffle camp, she spotted Miss Korla returning from some kind of trip. She worked up a little and straightened out her clothes, trying to look a little presentable.
“H-Hello, Miss Korla.”
Pushing herself off the bench, Belle hopped to her feet, upsetting Daisy and earning her a grumpy hiss from the Saibanut. Ignoring that, Belle offered a nod of her head first, then an awkward salute and bow combination before giving up and just waving. She wasn’t really sure how the Tuffles liked to be addressed. Mister Lord Chill had taught her how to act like a proper lady. Uncle Kalabas’s teachings had been a little more militantly minded. Unlike Mister Duran, Belle could see and feel the aura of Miss Korla, so she could get a little insight into how she was feeling. The general sense that Belle understood was that Miss Korla didn’t really like her. It was the same sense she got from most of the Tuffle camp members, so she wasn’t exactly surprised.
“I’m sorry… Am I in your way?”
Belle knit her fingers together a little anxiously, feeling a bit of her old shyness come out. She really didn’t want Miss Korla to dislike her, but she understood why. Saiyans were bad. She was bad. Her tail dropped a little. Maybe her telekinesis practice was scaring people? She should probably just go. Right? Yeah. She was just a weakling of a Saiyan child. Despite what Tarch said, Belle didn’t feel very strong. Apparently, she had lost it. Unconsciously, she brushed her fingers against her uncle’s headband, which she kept in her hair. It helped her a little. Calmed her down.
“I can leave if I’m in the way or a distraction.”

It was exceedingly hard to get a good read on the girl, she was constantly a bit nervous which might normally indicate she had something to hide but she ALSO had good cause for her nerves, she was aware they were not fond of Saiyans, it was by that distaste that she had actually bonded with Duran. But it also meant her interactions were colored by the lingering tension. “You’re fine, no need to leave. I was just returning from doing some scouting.” Korla was unsure exactly WHY she had stopped to check on the girl, so far she had mostly left her to her own devices, mostly because Duran had at first been very staunchly against infecting the girl, it WOULD have solved a lot of the potential risks her presence posed very quickly. Of course the basis for Duran’s arguments against it was that the girl was ALREADY an enemy of the Saiyans. Still though she felt.. TOO Saiyan, Roma was acceptable because while she had been frustratingly caustic before being infected she WAS a surprisingly bright Saiyan, she simply needed something to set her on a different path, a different mindset. If Belle WAS truly opposed to the Saiyans there wouldn't even need to be much or perhaps ANY mental changes made, just a sweep through her mind to see the truth in her claims, perhaps make a few adjustments that even the girl herself might want. “How have you liked it here so far?” Korla asked tentatively, unsure how exactly to make small talk with the child without sliding into a more interrogative tone and line of questioning.

“Um… it’s nice. It reminds me of the time my Uncle and I lived here when the Saiyan Kingdom was looking for the Dragon Balls. I was kidnapped so I never really found out what they wished for.” Belle put her hands behind her back and kicked at the dirt idly. She really did like Namek, but lately it had been full of a lot of memories of better times. It was a pretty harsh reminder that she could never have that again. And whose fault it was. She looked up at Miss Korla.
“I’ll probably be leaving soon. My friends want to go to Earth. Um, do you know Earth? It’s big and green and blue. Full of lots of different people. I hope I don’t run into any Saiyans there though…” Belle dug around in her pockets, hand finally closing over the radar that Tarch had given her. She pulled it out and showed it to Miss Korla. “But Earth has some Dragon Balls too, so I’m going to go there and see if I can… fix some things I messed up. Plus, my friends think they can find someone to look after me. So, I can stop bothering you all. I know you’re busy.”
Belle felt like she was jabbering too much, so she stuffed the dragon radar back into her pocket and bit her lip. While Mister Duran gave her the impression that he liked her, she didn’t get that feeling from Miss Korla. She could see it in her aura too. The uneasiness. That was how most people felt in this camp when they looked at her. Well, from those she could see the auras of anyway. She gave Miss Korla an apologetic look and backed away, her tail tucked tightly under her coat. She really did wish them the best in their fight against Vegeta. Honestly, she thought that they should settle for somewhere else. Vegeta was filled with nothing bad bad memories. Belle never wanted to go back there.

Korla’s expression remained neutral as the girl recounted the familiarity she felt with the camp, though internally it was quite unpleasant for their camp to be compared to something from the Saiyans, but of course Belle meant nothing by it, she was not comparing it to e Saiyan Camp but rather the emtional feeling of being with her Uncle. “You were kidnapped? By whom?” Korla raised an a brow at the matter of fact manner the girl recounted the kidnapping though she also went on to explain that apparently she would be leaving soon, to meet with friends on Earth, she seemed genuine in her hope that she would not see any Saiyans along the way and apparently Earth had its own set of Dragon Balls she was aiming to hunt down. That was… interesting… it was tempting to gather the team and go there to hunt them down and find out if… No, it was far to soon for that, and they still had to work on establishing themselves with Oboe and his fellow Namekians, if it WAS possible it was not imminently needed as Oboe would likely aid them in a search for the Namekian Dragon Balls. “I am aware of Earth yes” She had done a bit of research and had some… first hand? Second hand? Experiances leeched from another were strange to define but she had better understanding through her encounter with Carro “Are you sure it is safe for you to go? I would imagine such a hunt would risk encounters with other more powerful warriors unwilling to compromise their interests for a child. Worse yet you risk the Saiyans being the ones doing so” It also posed a slight danger to the group, if Belle was not trustworthy they were releasing her out into the universe without any of them to guarantee their secrecy, if she WAS though it was just as she stated, inherently a dangerous prospect for a child.

“Oh. Um… I was kidnapped by the World Trade Fleet. But I guess more specifically by their leader Mister Lord Chill. He was a bad person, but he cared for me. Well, at first he was just using me.” Belle explained her kidnapping as matter-of-factly as she could. While it had been pretty scary back then, she felt that she could be brave because she had known her uncle was going to come for her eventually. During that time, Mister Lord Chill had grown to really care for her. Belle had been a little unsure how to feel about that, but her uncle had come for her just like she thought. She had been happy to be back with him then. But maybe it was just one more victory for the Empire to her uncle.
“It’s kind of complicated. He adopted me later after my uncle died because of me.”
Explaining what had happened in bits, Belle realized, would probably only cause confusion. She didn’t really want to hash out the whole story unless Miss Korla specifically asked for it. To Miss Korla’s next question, Belle just shrugged. She was a little scared if there being other Saiyans to hunt the Dragon Balls on Earth, but she’d just have to deal with that as she came to it.
“I don’t know. I don’t really care. I just have to do this. It’s the only thing I can think of to make the hurting stop.”

That Belle called her situation ‘complicated’ was a pretty substantial understatement, Korla lacked anywhere near the understanding of psychology needed to unpack ‘kidnapped by a bad person but also he cared for me and also adopted me’ it was however very clearly something that the girl felt strongly about and in all likelihood was not something Korla should press her for information on the situation, she was young and trying to discuss her various traumas with Korla was probably not the best for either of them. “You’ve led a very strange and clearly sad life for one so young” Korla said with a small frown, she could even understand the sentiments behind her drive, many young Tuffles had joined the army to fight the Saiyans for very similar reasons, a chance to do SOMETHING to move past their pain, even if it was simply killing Saiyans, or trying to at least. But Belle had the luck and hope that she could actually CHANGE her situation, undo the damage with the power of the Dragon Balls. “And I can definitely understand your drive…” Korla paused briefly “I want something similar, I dont know if the Dragon Balls CAN accomplish my wish, but my hope is to revive all or even just some portion of my people. Just… you may need to be careful, I know the drive to take action is strong, but you need to be smart and careful. You are strong but there are others who are stronger, and far more experienced. If you face resistance you cannot defeat you may need to back down, losing the wish would be unfortunate but it is preferable to losing your life” Korla was unsure why she felt compelled to help the little Saiyan, perhaps she understood a bit too well the pain she was going through. “I.. I’m not entirely sure Duran would approve of me suggesting this, but I may have something that can… help. In my experiance it does not make others stronger but I’ve felt a sort of connection with those I’ve done it to, one I believe I can expand on with time to create something more. I can make you… a bit LESS Saiyan, and a bit more like Duran and in doing so create that connection between us, a connection we could use as a means for you to call for help if you need it. It is something usually used for turning aggressive Saiyans into more... reasonable people, like Roma if you have seen her around. But I wont need to affect your mind, you're... different from other Saiyans”

Was her life so strange? Well, that only confirmed that she had done something to deserve this. She had to have. Otherwise, nothing made sense. There was no way that the world could be so cruel and unfair, right? Belle sighed to herself and glanced up at Korla and tilted her head to the side when she mentioned her wish. Hm… Belle had heard that the last time that the Dragon Balls were used on Namek, they had been used to revive some lost people.
“Your wish can… probably come true. The last time the Dragon Balls were gathered… they wished back a bunch of… um… Ko- Konatsians?”
Korla gave her a well intentioned warning, and Belle appreciated it. Mister Duran and Miss Korla were good people. But… Belle didn’t intend to wait for the next rotation if things went badly. She couldn’t wait that long. She didn’t want to wait that long. According to Tarch, it would take months. She didn’t want to wait months. Still, Belle hoped that what she knew at least reassured Korla that her people could be brought back.
“Hm…? Help?”
Belle blinked up at Korla, more than a little confused. She listened, trying to understand what she was getting at when she heard that Miss Korla could make her… less Saiyan? Her eyes lit up a little. She didn’t have to be like them? She could be a little less like them? Was that really possible? Hopeful, Belle clasped her hands together and leaned forward intently. It felt nice to be called different from other Saiyans too. But..!
“R-Really?! You can do that? I-I… I want that! I don’t… I don’t wanna be like them…”
Belle’s tail swished back and forth in subdued excitement. If Miss Korla could make her less like the twisted Vegetan Saiyans then… then she would definitely take it! She didn’t want to be like any of them. Not her father. Not Uncle Kalabas. Not any of them. The only thing she was worried about was the connection between them. Not for her sake, but for Miss Korla’s sake. Anyone who got involved with her usually… bad things happened to them. Belle’s hopeful face morphed into one of concern.
“But… Miss Korla… Are you sure…? Not… not so good things happen to the people around me… I don’t want you or Mister Duran or any of your friends to end up… hurt because of me…”

Korla gave Belle a sad smile as she made an effort to bring her hope by mentioning that the Dragon Balls had been used before to bring others back from the dead, it DID give her a bit more hope but there was still a rather massive glaring problem with the wish still, and it was that that truly concerned Korla the most when it came to the wish. “I appreciate your optimism about my wish but… the Tuffles, they have been dead for a very long time. If my understanding is correct it has been nearly two thousand years since the war. But perhaps my fears are unfounded, these things are ‘magic’ after all, perhaps even time is no limit for them” Part of her wondered, if THAT was true, perhaps she could do MORE, not just revive the Tuffles. Undo the event that had killed them in the first place, spare the universe from the Saiyan plague. “Few good things have happened around me either Belle, whatever you might believe about any connection you have directly with the negativity in your life is likely unfounded. Sometimes the world simply is not fair, it is not your fault.” Korla said hoping that would at least start the process of getting that terribly toxic thought process out of the little girls head. “Now as for what I can do, I do need to make a few things clear to you. It will not be an a particularly pleasant experience. It should not be painful but may cause discomfort. My ability CAN also be used to alter the mind but it is something that CAN be fought and something you SHOULD fight if your mind feels strange or you suddenly start seeing or more accurately remembering unpleasant things you have never actually experienced”“You deserve to know the potential issues in order to make your decision, I have no intention of altering your mind, you’ve already proven to Duran that you are not someone that could be necessary to do to, and me aswell. If you would like however I can give you some memories I have of Tuffle life before I joined the army, most would be when I was around your age, if only to spare you my awkward teenage years. But that is entirely up to you, it might be nice to have some mental context if you still want to become part Tuffle.”

Miss Korla’s sad smile made Belle feel sad for her. It seemed like she wasn’t holding out much in the way of hope. To be fair, she couldn’t blame her. Belle had a hard time holding onto hope herself. She looked up at Miss Korla, tilting her head to the side as she said that it wasn’t her fault. It didn’t feel that way, but she would try to take Miss Korla’s advice into consideration. Belle just nodded to let Miss Korla that she understood.
Belle listened attentively as Miss Korla explained the process of what she was going to do. She shuddered a little when she said it wouldn’t feel nice, but Belle had been through worse things, right? She fidgeted as she thought it over in her mind. Mm… she did trust Miss Korla… and she did want to know more about the Tuffles and their history. The Saiyan side of history that her uncle had taught her felt more than a little one sided in its interpretation.
“O-Okay! Um.. I would like to know more if that’s okay. I only know what my father and uncle taught me… and that was mostly stuff about the glory of the empire and… how the current kingdom needed to live up to the old standards… and stuff about conquest… But… I wanna know more.”
Her tail flicked gently as she thought about what else she might like to know or have. Hm… Belle put a hand over her aching heart. The emptiness there ached like a gaping wound, but it was nothing compared to the anguish she’d felt when Uncle Kalabas tried to hurt her or when Mister Lord Chill was taken again. She didn’t want to feel like that. Not ever again. Her body shook just with the memory of it. Tears threatened to sting her eyes.
“Um… could you make it so… um… if… something gets taken away again… could you make it so I don’t hurt as much… please…?”
