The funeral of Lord Chill, former Executive Director of the Fleet and would-be King of Arcose, was a somber affair. A great procession of Fleet personnel and Arcosian nobles followed the fallen Lord's casket through the rain to the graves of Kings. None had been buried there in centuries, but Chill's claim to the throne was being honoured posthumously at least. Aizu himself followed close behind the casket, a position in the honour guard afforded to him by his rank within the Fleet. A cloud of despair hung over the event, as all the gathered soldiers and dignitaries knew what it signified. Their last great leader was dead, and Arcose was now at the mercy of its enemies.
As they gathered around the graveside, Aizu cast an eye to the surrounding tombs. It was a peaceful enough spot, next to a surprisingly recent headstone. The others were well-maintained, but clearly ancient, stretching back to the height of the Cold dynasty and beyond; to leaders whose deeds and faces were long since forgotten, leaving only their names etched on the cold stone. The steely casket being lowered into Chill's own plot was, of course, empty. There had been no mortal remains to bury. Aizu found himself wondering how many of the graves there actually held the bones of the fallen rulers they had been dedicated to.
The minister of the ceremony droned on through his speech - some traditional funerary rites, used by the royals of old. The aging Arcosian had to raise his voice to be heard over the constant hammering of the rain on the gathered mourners' heads. Sheets of water poured across the tombstones, leaving them darkened and slick with precipitation. The ground was soaked through and the members of the funeral procession were even more so. It was truly a miserable affair.
Finally, the rites came to an end, and the honour guard assembled, flanking the grave. Aizu and a number of the Fleet’s strongest fighters stood vigil as the lead members of the procession paid their last respects, each casting a fistful of earth over the casket. It went on for almost an hour. By the time the last dignitaries had made their way past, the grave was half full. So many had come and contributed. Even dead, Chill was the centre of attention, the Warmaster mused. That would please him, no doubt.
As gradually the great throng of mourners filtered out between the graves of Kings; Aizu remained, watching over the graveside. Here and there, shadowy figures lingered in the rain. They were instructed to remain after the ceremony. Aizu had hand-picked these stragglers himself. They slowly congregated around their fallen leader's tomb as the last of the earth was poured over the casket. Thunder rolled across the angry skies above as they gathered on the hilltop, overlooking the distant lights of the capital. The sun had long since vanished behind clouds and it had only grown darker since.
Aizu looked around at the handful of remaining individuals as the last dregs of pale daylight drained below the horizon. His scouter made up for any lack of illumination, scanning and identifying them in turn. They were the strongest, the most cunning and talented of the Fleet. Lighting a cigar somehow in the downpour, he took a deep drag. The embers' glow reflected in his eyes, giving them a fiendish gleam in the gloom of the graveyard. For a few moments, the only sound was the rain. Then, he spoke. His voice - a deep baritone in his towering Brute Form - carried across the hilltop, but would be drowned out by the rain to any who weren't part of their assembly.
"Executive Director Chill is dead." He allowed those words to hang over the gathering for a moment. "The Saiyans have almost completed their revenge against Arcose, but make no mistake: They aren't finished yet." His mind was cast back to encounters with Ochra and Ramen since the battle, and his clandestine strategy meeting with Kraktus. There would be no mercy from them, and he didn't doubt that Kayen would soon seek to capitalise on their vulnerability and expand her fledgling empire. He looked down at the grave, fresh soil heaped over the casket within.
"We bury the World Trade Fleet with him." He said, pointing a finger at Chill's final resting place. "The Arcosian Lords no longer have the power here. Why should we continue to obey the orders of aristocratic fools, clinging to lost glories and antiquated traditions? I will no longer suffer their vain ambitions and selfish manipulations." His voice rose as he went on, the fiery glint in his eyes seeming to grow brighter with his passion. "I will not maintain this failed enterprise any longer. It has brought us to the brink of destruction. As we stand here, Saiyans plot the expansion of their territory. Before long they will be here, and there will be nothing we can do to stop them." He looked around the gathering from beneath a heavy brow, fixing each of them with his gaze in turn.
"We are about to see Arcose fall into Saiyan hands. And why?!" He looked at the faces gathered around with intensity. "Because we allowed ourselves to be bought. We allowed ourselves to serve the goals of high-born lordlings who couldn't give a damn if we die on their behalf. I say no more! I'm done painting a target on my back for them!" He raised his right arm, claw glinting with the reflections of the city's distant lights. "We are their greatest soldiers, but what do we have to show for it!?"
"So I say to you, friends both old and new: Join me! Leave the failures of our old masters behind! Let us forge a new way together, for the good of us all. Today, we buried the last King of Arcose. Tomorrow belongs to a new order! WHO'S WITH ME?!" His claws clashed in the air as he gave his rallying cry, with a steely look in his eye and a fire in his heart.

Indeed, it was a very rainy day- which was fitting, considering what today was. It was the day of "King" Chills funeral, a man who (from what Ashis had garnered) was the last hope for these desperate aristocrats. Ashis stood vacantly to the side of all the fancy processions, leaning up against the side of a nearby tree, and watching as the massive hordes of aliens and arcosians alike flooded in from all over- quickly filling up the relatively small burial grounds. His gaze fixated on the casket, watching as slowly but surely, with every passing noble and mourner, the casket quickly filled. It wasn't just filled with dirt though, but also with the discarded dream's and aspirations of an entire federation, their fate being all but decided now with the death of Chill.
The sad look on peoples faces weren't only because of Chills death, but also because of what his death meant for everybody else- Or at least... that's how Ashis felt. Regardless, Ashis couldn't help but feel apathetic- after all, he didn't much care a single bit about what happened to the federation; He was just along for the ride. Not only that, but he personally felt that all of this- The funeral, the burial... It was excessive. This man had failed, plain and simple. The ceremony was nothing but a waste of time, for a man who's ambitions had crumbled, and turned to dust alongside him.
Death was not something so meaningful as to warrant such a celebration anyhow...
But nonetheless, the funeral went on. It'd take quite a bit of time, but eventually, the last handful of dirt was flung into the casket. Truthfully, this event was probably one of the most boring in all of Ashis's lives. He was being forced to stand there and listen to this geezer drool on and on in the midst of terrible rain, which really only made it harder to sit through this event. Thankfully though, he wouldn't have to wait very long- as soon afterward, Aizu and his posse of fancily-dressed honor guards begun the final phase of this "tear-jerking" fiasco. Some more dirt throwing later, and eventually, all that was left were a few lingering souls (many of whom Ashis recognized).
Then, at last, Aizu addressed them. Ashis grinned as he spoke. "This Aizu guy, if nothing else, sure is a helluva good talker" Ashis thought, letting out a slight chuckle as he listened to Aizu go on and on. As Aizu wrapped up his firey speech- Ashis let out an audible whistle of approval, and called out to Aizu- "...Wow, Pheew... great job there chief, you've got my heart all twisted up in knots" Ashis joked, his tone as sarcastic as always as he begun making his way over. He'd start quickly pushing forward, pacing his way over to chill's grave and leaning down to scoop up a handful of pebbles and dirt on the way, before finally arriving. "I'll be honest with ya Aizu, I couldn't give two shits about any of this" Ashis cackled, his eyes piercing into Aizus as he spoke. "In a couple hundred years, this will all be gone, and I'll probably still be here. Really, the likelihood of you actually making any sort of difference is pretty low" he joked, his face becoming slightly less chaotic as he continued- "... But i like to live in the moment anyway, and you seem like a pretty fun guy- so I'll stick around for a bit I guess" Ashis resolved, quickly tossing his rocks and dirt onto Chill's gravesite- sort of as a symbolic gesture.

In all honesty, Eve was expecting this event to be something drab and boring. She had only come because she would have otherwise heard an earful from her best friend otherwise. She couldn't care less about what happened to Chill, and in fact, she just wanted this all to get it over with. All she did was merely cross her arms and scoff as they made their way towards the Lord's final resting spot and listened to the boring speech that they always made. For a moment, Eve wondered if she was possibly able to fall asleep while standing up. She didn't even cast too long of a look towards the casket, instead finding herself staring off into space.
Since when did the people Arcose act so formal and like this? Maybe this was the reason why their enemies were stronger than they were. It was just better for them to suck it up, having a quick burial and get it all over with. Better yet! Don't have one at all. It wasn't as if there was even a body to bury anyways. To entertain herself, Eve looked around to see if she knew anyone else here. For starters, there was Aizu who she had met back when she was running around with that saiyan girl. Then there was that weird alien creature that she fought with for chocolate cake. Not the best way to meet someone, but by now Eve didn't particularly care about any grudges she had. All she wanted to do was to finish this damn ceremony.
As she was trying her best to think of other various ways to entertain herself, Eve's attention was caught back by the booming voice of Aizu. Immediately, his words had piqued her attention. While it did seem like he was stating the obvious at first, the manner he presented them felt like something else was up. There was a hidden intent that he wanted to share. And then that was when he finally dropped his bombshell. Burying the World Trade Fleet? That was all she even knew of the place, what did he even mean by that. Silently, she continued to listen to his speech and surprisingly she found herself agreeing with everything he said.
For the longest time, Eve had thought herself as completely loyal to the fleet. After all, they had given her this power and she was a super soldier, one who was made to be loyal to them! But the recent events had begun to chip away at her bonds with them, causing her to become disgruntled and lose faith with them. The events of the coronation especially had caused her eyes to open. The Fleet was truly helpless at the hands of the Kingdom. It was flawed, and it was clear that the old system would no longer work. There was no way they would possibly be able to supply her with the power she desired anymore. But Aizu, she held a lot of respect for him. Eve truly believed that he would be capable of change. Even if it meant betraying the organization she knew her entire life, if the path led to power, she was willing to walk it.
"The Fleet are cowards," She said aloud. "The recent Lords have proven that well. They are too soft to lead things, leaving us at the mercy of the enemies. I, for one, refuse to follow anyone who led us to the state that we are in right now." Eve began to walk towards the voice, pushing away the people from the staring crowd. "I'm done with the Fleet and their ways, if you can actually save us from the saiyan threat I'll be all for it. If you can lead us to glory rather than failure like the old leaders have..." Eve would turn her back on Chill's grave and face towards Aizu with a giant smirk on her face. "I'll stand by you."

Post by Terium on Sept 16, 2019 11:28:57 GMT -6
Terium had received word of Chill's funeral just as everyone else at the funeral had. Though not from Aizu directly, but rather from listening to some soldiers talking about it. From them, he figured out where it would take place. The reason he decided to go was simple, to pay his last respects for Chill before he continued on to truly begin his experiments. So here was now just leaning up against a wall, his senses focused on Chill's grave. He could sense that there wasn't a body in that grave...to which he inwardly cursed at as it meant he couldn't revive Lord Chill with his experiments.
For now, he just stood silently as he observed others with his senses speak in response to Aizu's words. He observed Ashis words, and contemplated whether he should find out if it would be possible to obtain blood samples from him, before deciding against it for the time being. He already has enough as it is from the Arcose blood bank, so many samples from so many species. If he can just get a good lab set up, then he can truly begin his experiments. But how to approach Aizu on this front? He knew Kraktus is willing to help him get a lab, but would Aizu also be willing to help him out?
Then he felt Eve's presence and her words...a fellow bio android, interesting. Very interesting indeed, especially as she seems to be of like mind to him. He decided to connect to Aizu's mind, and gave a simple message 'Greetings Warmaster Aizu, this is Terium, I don't believe we've officially met. Nevertheless, this is me stating that...I'm with you from the shadows.' he told him, essentially stating that he will be helping subtly without being actually noticed, as if on queue, he proceeded to reveal his power signature to Aizu for but a single moment before hiding it once again to further demonstrate.

Post by General Kraktus on Sept 18, 2019 23:58:57 GMT -6
Kraktus really didn't want to come to the funeral to Lord Chill. The man had been an eyesore at best and an incompetent Lord at worst during his tenure. Yet Aizu was going to be there and as a member of the fleet, he had a job to be there. Krkatus was far in the back just watching and he listened to Aizu little speech with intent. He had a lot of good to say but Kraktus cared little for the words. He knew most of what Aizu already meant to bring up since Kraktus and he equaled partners in the new order. Still, he had a feeling that he should be the one to stand on top. Yet, he let Aizu be his equal and undermine that power. It was time he staked his own claim and saw what Aizu had to say in front of the rest. If he could convince them to be leader he supposed he'd let him be equal. Yet if he won the crowd then he had no reason to have Aizu.
As Aizu finished his pieces and everyone else began to talk Kraktus began to walk towards the front. Slow clapping could be heard from his hands as he walked to the front. He recognized three of the major players at the funeral. One of them was Terium who was quite loyal to him. Ashis as well had been quite loyal to him though he was unsure if he was as loyal to Aizu or himself. Eve, he knew of but they had not talked since Krkatus had been on Vegeta still just promoted to a General. It was a good crowd of the strongest they had left. They were all still quite weak but in good time maybe they would become strong enough to be useful warriors of the Fleet. "Another riveting display Warmaster," Kraktus said with sarcasm flipping his voice to cut through the goodwill he had inspired merely moments ago. He walked to the front and then looked at the grave of Chill. "Heh so, in the end, he stood at the top. Dead, it was a shame we never finished our game, Lord Chill." Kraktus spoke out loud looking at those standing among the crowd. "I waited to let Aizu speak his piece before I came to the front. I could not stand being next to Lord Chill's corpse. I don't want his ignorance filling my head." Kraktus said with little concern to Chill's lost life.
"Everything Aizu just said is correct about the dark times that lay ahead of this dying planet. We do not need the nobles. In fact, we most likely should just kill them right now but a last someone else will get to them regardless. A new order needs to be built by strong warriors like yourself and Aizu. Yet someone needs to stand at the top. Someone without ignorance to those who stand around them but also someone with the strength to lead." Kraktus eye the crowd for a moment before nodding to Aizu. "I am happy to follow you Aizu but I've followed two leaders beforehand. Boreal and Chill were both fools. Both filled with ignorance which covered up any intelligence they could have had. I have no interest following the whims of someone who can have the same. I have been one of the generals of the forces of the fleet. Undermanned and understaffed little progress had been made in my tenure. Tell me why should you lead above me. Someone who is the strongest one here and the wisest. Can you solve the problems that faced the two lords before you or you mearly trying to take their places in the throne of fools?" Kraktus asked Aizu looking towards the crowd to gauge what everyone thought of his interruption.

Gabu never liked funerals and back at his private quarters within his room, he stood there looking at himself in the mirror with his funeral designed uniform, which was his standard issue uniform but instead of red, it was all black, including the gloves and boots. He'd sigh to himself in disbelief. Gabu couldn't believe he was attending yet another funeral. He had seen too many of his friends depart and funerals were the worst. A soldier came to the door, wearing a funeral outfit as well.
"Lt Gabu, are you ready sir? Your hovering sphere is waiting to take you to the event."
Gabu looked to the soldier and trying to not have his voice crack as he consumed some alcohol to further mask it.
"I will walk over there instead."
The soldier nodded and went about his business. Gabu started to head over to the funeral event and with his hands to his pocket, he had arrived just in time for Aizu's speech. However, he was more towards the back and away from the crowd and next to a nearby oak tree. Gabu was rather... pissed to say the least. He didn't like the fact that Chill got a grand ol huge gathering for him, while the countless and nameless soldiers wouldn't receive such an honorary. Aizu then spoke about getting rid of the directors and he'd let out a slight chuckle from it and speaking underneath his breath.
"Seems like we are on the same boat huh Aizu?" Everyone knew this was coming..."
Even though Gabu was rather far from the event, he would hope that Aizu would catch him raising his glass of vodka to the air, approving of his message and also joining him for what he had stated. Gabu eventually made his way to the crowd of people and consuming his liquor in the process. Gabu decided to interject before Aizu could respond to it.
"No one should rule over no one as far as i'm concerned. We are going about this the wrong way. We have allowed people like Boreal, people like Chill. To command the entire fleet without anyone else say so! Why don't we put aside the one leadership role and further expand it into many leaders occupying a planet or a sector or different sub groups. If we continue to act under one leader, it will not go so well for our future. This world is already full of darkness and betrayal that what we need now is to change the course of the tide so that we can prevail against the Kingdom.
We are living in times of where we aren't the victors anymore. Yes we killed their King and had them flee planet Vegeta to Earth! But what has that accomplished? That has only hurt our chances at ever growing! We did the wrong steps."
Gabu consuming a bit more alcohol to further clear his mind.
"We should of destroyed their planet! Whoever was the leader during that time period when we killed their king! Wasn't thinking that much. If we had destroyed their planet, we probably wouldn't be in this mess! If you allow those to live on and you know that they are your enemy. You are giving them a stepping stone later on. Let's ask ourselves, what can we do together, to change our history of tomorrow!"
Gabu was done with his rant and awaited for everyone else to speak.

Aizu felt gratified as one by one, the gathered figures pledged their support. First Ashis and Eve, which was little surprise to him. But then others came forward in support, including Terium, the elusive Bio-android who he'd spied loitering nearby earlier. The upsurge in agreement was dampened somewhat by Kraktus, walking to the front and clapping slowly. The Warmaster uttered a curse under his breath. What was the fool doing to undermine their plans now?
His speech started off sarcastic, taking a few digs at Chill to add to the ones Aizu had already voiced. But then he veered off on a different course. He expressed willingness to follow, but wanted to know why he should. Aizu suppressed the urge to call Kraktus a fool in front of the assembled warriors. Instead, he closed his eyes, took a breath and composed his reply.
His opportunity was snatched away, however, by Gabu on another drunken tirade. He was slugging back vodka as he bobbed about, his wandering diatribe eventually finding its way to that same bitter enmity towards the Saiyans that so many of them still clung to. Aizu shook his head. Though he appreciated the support, Gabu was as off the mark as Kraktus. Aizu decided he needed to right the ship before it got any further off course.
"Gentlemen, please," he began in placating tones. "I'm not looking to rule anything. You have skills and resources, same as I do. Same as everyone here does. I'm talking about a partnership. You and me, equal rights. Nobody has to follow any orders they don't sign up for. No more costly, inefficient wars. No more sinking resources into pointless conquests and doomed occupations…" Aizu looked around at the little gathering, boldness growing as he remembered their earlier support. Even if he couldn't sway Kraktus, he was confident he could keep their attention.
"We're the elite, the baddest of the Fleet! I say it's time we went into business for ourselves, did things our way! Let's create a little gods-damn Anarchy!" He bellowed across the graveyard as lightning flashed in the distance. The storm was picking up now. The superstitions of old pirates came to Aizu's mind. They'd probably have some sort of saying about it. No doubt an omen, but he wasn't sure yet what portents it held.
