Maki would find himself in a vast desert, not too far from his home in South City. The arid nature of the desert provided an excellent training ground for prospective fighters, and the teen was indeed a prospective fighter. He had many goals to accomplish, but acquiring knowledge about ki would be a good starting point. So far, he had managed to manipulate the ki inside of his own body. Getting it outside of his body seemed to be the challenge. That meant no energy blasts or beams until he could properly control this aspect of ki. To some this would be easy, but he was a human, this wasn't exactly in his blood. Standing several feet away from a large cactus, he would be holding out a hand and trying to focus his energy. He would dig deep, and begin transferring power to the palm of his hand. He would rear his arm back and thrush forward with a shout "HAAAA!" Wind would blow with the force of his strike, but not the faintest bit of light would leave his hand. The earthling would look down at his hand that was now steaming, and shake his head. He had been practicing all morning, but not the slightest glimpse of power. If only that saiyan woman had shown him a trick or two before she left. A bit angry by his failure, the teen would roundhouse kick the plant in half! In truth, this was the least embarrassing of Maki's defeats, there was no one around to taunt him at least. Understanding energy and mastering it were clearly two different things. Though he knew exactly what it was, manipulating it seemed to be something he couldn't grasp without assistance. Seeing little else to do, the earthling would turn his attention to another spiky cactus. "Alright, this time for sure." In a similar fashion to before, he would begin powering up... Typha |

Typha and Yudi walked through the desert the two of them once agian on the hunt for the dragonballs. So far Typha had not found any new success but he was confident that eventually, something would change. He couldn't have this bad luck stretch forever, right? Typha didn't know for sure but he could at least try. He did have to eventually lead the planet but with the whole mess of the dragonballs he'd would not feel right if he left without at least finding some sort of resolution to the whole situation. Typha paused when he felt power in the air. Someone looked like they were working quite hard. Typha looked over and began to walk towards where he sensed the power. "Huh, where you going?" Yudi followed as he peered at the radar "There no Dragonball over there..you sense someone strong." Typha looked back at Yudi. "Yah might as well go meet them we are not having much luck with the dragonballs maybe a quick break on our search will yield better results," Typha explained as he arrived at where Maki was. Typha waved. "Hello, stranger how is your day going.l I sensed your powerlevel and came to see what you were doing out here. I am Typha and my blue friend here is Yudi."

Maki would continue focusing on the cactus, but producing an attack made of pure ki seemed impossible. Though he possessed the energy to use such an attack, the know how simply wasn't there. Another failed attempt would be concluded by the grappler kicking the plant in half. He hated this weakness of his, but knew he would overcome it in time. "Gah-- If I could just find another fighter who--" the sentence would be cut off as travelers introduced themselves. The earthling would scratch the back of his head, confused who else would be out in the middle of the desert. Granted, he had been in stranger situations.
"Umm, hi there. I'm Maki. Just doing some training out in the wastes, I'm a martial artist after all." The teenager would take notice of the wanderer's sword and the device he was carrying. "Uh, a sword? You a fighter too or something? Or maybe just an adventurer?" The earthling would take a seat on the sand below, deciding to take a break from training. He wasn't too sure who this guy was, but had an interest in him strangely enough. It was the kind of curiosity that led him to adventure occasionally.

Typha smiled when the man introduced himself he was glad he had not caused any fear from just walking up and saying hello. He knew if someone was engrossed in training like the boy seemed to be the mat of been surprised at some unknown voice telling him hello. Especially since they were out in the desert he bet he didn't expect anyone to be out here. "Hello, Maki I can see that you a martial artist. A strong one at that." Typha smiled. For a normal human, he was really powerful and he was unsure he knew of much of the world out there. No need to ruin his confidence by saying in the grand scheme of things he was not all that strong. When he asked if he was a swordsman he went to speak. "Why yes..." Yudi interrupted. "This here is Typha. He's is the best swordsman in the entire universe. He's also the prince of Konats so that is pretty cool." Typha grabbed his friend. "You don't need to spit all these facts about me. I don't wanna scare people. Also, that first fact is not true." He'd not clashed blade with Kayen though he supposed if he could beat Kayen in a duel of blades he would be the best blademaster in the universe.

If Maki was drinking a beverage, he would have just spit the whole thing out. Did his ears deceive him? Was this guy actually the best swordsman in the universe? That was a bold claim to make, but the man didn't seem to deny it. The earthling's jaw had dropped at the remark, "What!? A master swordsman and a prince!? What's a guy like you doing on earth?" the grappler had a million questions for the alien, but decided it would be best to ask something practical first. The very reason he came to the desert was to learn how to use ki outside of his body. If this swordsman was a fighter, then he might be able to pass on some wisdom. For a fighter Maki's age, that would be invaluable. Scratching the back of his head, the earthling would try to explain his situation in a persuasive manner.
"So if you're actually that powerful, would you be willing to teach a new guy like me a thing or two..." The earthling would point a finger at a field full of cacti that had been punched through or chopped in half. "I've been trying to master ki all week, but can't seem to get a grip on it... I can control the ki inside my own body, but outside is... Well it seems impossible..."
Sadly, the earthling seemed incapable of firing ki blasts or beams. He had never had the right teacher for the technique.

Typha looked at Yudi as the boy's jaw dropped. Now he bets he had scared the young lad. For sure if someone heard all that stuff it must be the least bit scary for someone who seemed so young. Yet, Maki seemed to just want to know why he was here. "Well, I was am looking for these things you earthlings may call the dragonballs. I have a friend I promised to bring back so I came to find them and bring him back from the dead." He was sure that Maki had at least heard of the dragonballs. They seemed to be sort of myth-like from what he knew from other earthlings. So he was hoping that was not such a big stretch for the young man.
Typha eyed the man in confusion was Maki asked him to train him. He was thinking of what to say as Maki explained as he had been trying to master his ki. He had been unable too and would like some help to control it. Typha sighed. "Well, I suppose I can try to help you." Typha looked back as Yudi. Yudi shrugged. "Sure it can be a lot of fun. I can maybe learn something from you. You do know how to control your ki pretty well." He knew Yudi was thinking of the Kioken but he doubts it'd be a good idea to show this kid a techquine that dangerous. Not that he could learn it since he had no idea how to teach anyone the move nor did he think he should. "Ok i'll teach you what I know but first I need to see what you can do alright? Show me how you been trying to unleash your ki before I came." Typha spoke before taking a few steps back to give Maki the space to try.

Maki was pretty excited that the man had agreed to teach him. If he was this great swordsmen his little assistant claimed, then surly he would be able to pass on some great advice. The earthling would nod quickly, "Sure, I'll show you what I've been doing." He would spin around and set his sights at another giant cactus. They tended to be the only targets around in the desert. He would stretch out his right arm, and begin to power up. His body would be surrounded with a white aura, and his ki would be directed towards the palm of his hand. "Alright, here it goes!"
In a quick motion, he would thrust his arm forward "Haaaa!" The energy in his palm would suddenly disappear, nullifying his potential ki blast. Maki would grit his teeth in anger. After all this time, he still couldn't manage to fire off a ranged attack. "Gah, see what I mean! Anytime I try to release it from my body, poof, nothing." The young man seemed utterly lost. At this point, any guidance at all would help.

Typha nodded as Maki seemed ready to show him what he could do. Typha was excited to see how he could help the boy but he had a feeling he would not need that much help. Typha watched carefully as the white aura surrounded the boy's arm. Then he threw the punch but the energy in his palm disappeared before he could throw the attack. Typha looked on slightly confused. Guess Maki did need a bit more help then he expected. For someone as strong as him he thought the boy would be a little farther along in ki control. Guess that was what he got for assuming things out of people. That was alright Typha was pretty sure he knew how to solve this problem. "Alright, you can at least form the Ki and bring it out of your body that is a good sign. That means your close to learning how to use Ki in such a matter. "Your focusing on releasing it but to do that first you need to master keeping it inside your body. Tell me do you have the ability to fly." IF he didn't then Typha felt that would be the thing the boy needed to learn first. That took good ki concentration and if he could do that then he could learn to flow the ki outward in the manner of a ki wave.

Maki would scratch the back of his head, about to give the swordsmen some clarification. It was true that he was focusing on releasing his energy, but that seemed to be the problem. He could already control the energy withing his body to super charge his punches and he could fly pretty well too. As he was asked about flight, the earthling would smirk before levitating a few feet off the ground. "Flying is easy enough, and..." The earthling would drop from the air and slam his fist into the sand below him. Bringing up his hand, there would be a small spot of glass where the sand once was. "...Putting ki behind my punches is also pretty simple." The earthling would raise an arm to another cactus before continuing, "now this..." The white aura from before would surround the young man's body. Ki would flow to his arm as he would push forward once more. Upon fully extending his arm, nothing would happen. "... This seems impossible for some reason."With that, the earthling would sit down in the sand, deciding to take a quick break and hear what the man thought. Maybe he only had a simple problem, and there would be a simple solution! That would be wonderful Typha |

Typha eyed Maki as he explained that he could fly already. So he knew how to control his ki inward. So he was closer then he needed to be. Typha put a hand on his chin as he watched Maki then tried once agian to fire a beam of energy but once agian he was unable to do that attack. "I see well that is indeed an issue." Maki was where he needed to be. Typha brought his hand forward. "So you can bring your Ki Inward that is your first step. I think your problem is that you're trying to fire his energy out without focusing it first. First, bring your ki inward like your going to fly but focus it into your arm. Let it sit there for a moment and then bring it towards your hand. Then something should happen." He was unsure if that was a good way to explain it but maybe that would work for the boy. He was good at swordsmanship training but not so much in teaching others how to use ki. Yudi looked at Typha. "So that how you do it. I guess I should try after Maki." He'd grinned then looked at Maki. "Go ahead you should be able to do it."

Maki would listen carefully, and that did seem to make sense. He should have given himself some time to charge his attack before trying to expel any energy immediately. That he hadn't thought too deeply on the subject, that may have been his very problem. Thanks to the size of the desert, there would be many other targets around. "Okay, I think that just might do it. Let me try."
The earthling would spin around and set his sights on yet another cactus. The plant was similar in mass to the ones he had been attacking before, so it would be a good measure of his power. Bringing forth his arm, he would stretch out towards his target. The earthling would allow his white aura to surround him, ki would be flowing. Taking a deep breath inward, he would transfer his strength to the palm of his hand. Unlike the previous attempts, he would allow it to sit, drawing even more power out. Eventually, he would feel something bubbling up inside of his arm. Suddenly, and surprisingly, a white ki blast would fly from his hand like a rocket! The energy attack demolished the cactus in a small explosion! There would be a huge grin on the teen's face, as he had finally done it! "Wha--I--I did it!? I can't believe, I really did it!" He would turn his gaze back to the alien, and start to profusely thank the man! "Good sir, if there is anything I can every do for you please let you know!"

Typha stared at Maki as he asked for him to try. He would have to see if Maki was able to get this. He was hoping that his words would have been able to get through him and get him the result he was seeking. He watched as the boy's aura swirled to his arm and then his hands. Typha could sense it though it was faint. Then he watched him fire off a blast which easily destroyedthe Cactus. Typha, let off a small smirk he could not contain it after seeing such an attack. He was glad that he was able to grasp it right away. It was a good first step but considering how strong Maki was he could do a lot more. "You don't need to thank me at all. I just want to help you, I suppose it is the idea of being a teacher."
He thought back to King Kai. He spent nearly three months of training with him. Maybe that mindset of helping others grow was infecting him. Not that was a bad thing it just was something he would not have expected to be excited about teaching. "Well, you tell me anything else you need would want help with or if you want something like a spar." Though he knew that was not a good idea considering the difference of power. Yudi looked back at Typha. "I think I am more at his level boss I think you'd knock his cloak off on accident." Typha looked back at Yudi. His friend did have a point he didn't have the ability to lower his Ki. Having Yudi fight him would actually not be a bad idea for either of them. "Guess you'd be better for that." Yudi pointed at himself before nodding. "If he wants too of course," Typha added quickly as he looked back at Maki.

Maki was excited by his new abilities, so much so that he would be more than willing to spar the swordsman. "A spar huh? I'd lo--" he would be cut off by the man's sidekick mentioning their gap in power. That was a good point too, a guy like Typha could knock his block off in a single shot. Hopefully, the little guy next to him would prove to be a decent challenge. Seeing no reason to decline, the earthling would nod his head in agreement. "Alright, I'll take you on then. If you think you can match me that is..." Maki would grin before raising his hands and getting into a grappling stance. In this guy used a sword too, the teen's mauy thai would be invaluable in the spar. Considering that things were about to get serious too, the earthling though it wise to ascend to his full power as quickly as possible. Clenching his fists, a white aura would surround him as he powered up. "Haaaa!"
With that, he would be at full strength, a power level of ten thousand for the moment. The smirking look on the teen's face became a much more serious one. "Okay, come and get me!"

Typha looked back at Yudi as Maki explained he was quite fine with fighting Yudi. Yudi nodded as he walked forward putting a hand on his sword as he looked towards Maki. He was going to let him power up first as that seemed the right thing to do. Plus Typha could tell him how strong Maki had become just in case he was out of his depth. Typha watched carefully as he felt the increase in power from Maki. He clearly had improved his strength as Typha looked at Yudi. "Alright Yudi do not hold back he's at your level all right." Yudi grinned, "Alright that is awesome." Yudi muscles bulked up as a blue aura shot out from Yudi's body. Now they were even in terms of power. Typha leaped back to not get into the way of this fight. Sure he would not be harmed but he didn't want to give anyone an accidentaly advantage. Yudi gripped his Katana as ki swirled around his sheath. "Alright, let's do it!" He'd swung the blade out a crescent of wind flew out at extreme speeds aiming to slam into Maki with the strength to send a grown man flying.

Maki seemed pleased as the guy's power level rose to match his own. At this rate, it would be a much closer fight, and that would make for excellent training. These did seem to be one difference in the two, as the smaller guy wielded a sword. A blade with enough force behind it was a dangerous tool indeed, but the teen had some dangerous tools of his own. Smirking, he'd mention "Some say wielding a sword is like having an extra arm. If that is the case, then I've got two swords right here!" At that remark, two additional arms would pop out beneath Maki's original two! He would stretch them out for a moment before entering a grappling stance that utilized all four appendages.
With all four arms, the earthling would brace himself for the impact of the energy slash. It would be enough to send him skidding back against the sand for a few meters, but didn't put him on the ground. "Okay, now it's my turn!"
Seeing an his own opening, the earthling would lunge forward and fly through the air with an extended knee. He was looking to land in the swordsmen's chest, and then try to follow up by grabbing him with all four arms. That would hopefully be enough to set up his next attack, assuming everything went well.
