Tarch PL: 160,000. Mastered Super Saiyan Active. Energy Setting: 40,000 Even after mastering his super saiyan form, Tarch still felt as though he was missing something. As natural as it was to enter and exit the form, being in the form itself was still a bit of a core. It was not as taxing as it used to be of course. But he wanted super saiyan to feel just like his normal form. So the young half saiyan decided to spend the day as a blonde. Of course, he had to keep his power down to a comforting level, as if he wasn’t transformed at all. This did, as expected, have its ups and downs. For example, the amount of broken silverware and dinnerware. His human parents nearly threw him into the lake a few blocks away. So he decided to try being normal somewhere else. He went for a walk in the nearby town. Unfortunately, he ended up tripping over an uneven sidewalk. Luckily he did manage to catch himself which was all well and good. The poor parking meter he clutched onto for dear life, however, was not so lucky. Several apologies later, he did manage to bend it back into shape, but the owner was still unhappy with him at best. Other than that, the only other issue where familiar faces coming up to him bombarding him with questions about his hair and eyes. At least it wasn’t as bad as property damage or accidental vandalism. However, it seemed even some backwater town in the middle of nowhere was not a good place for a super saiyan to practice being normal either. So he decided to take a short hike to the nearby river to try and calm his rising anxiety. It was nice. A group of kids from the local elementary school was a little noisy, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t tune out as white noise. All in all, today was at least a kind of success in Tarch’s teal eyes. He didn’t hurt anything living, and he kept his power at a normal level with only a few moments of metaphorical explosion. He did have to wonder though if Nashua or Vocado had similar problems when they were trying to master their super forms. Ochra

Ochra's PL: 147,016 He should have expected someone like Tarch would have gained the power of a Super Saiyan. The boy always showed potential, as far back as their previous meeting on Vegeta. Though how long he had been one, Ochra couldn't say. But what was important now was that Ochra needed to find the youth. The boy might be his best bet on getting a grips the power growing within him. Amara had suggested speaking to a Super Saiyan about the whole thing, and unfortunately for Ochra, Super Saiyans were in short supply. Nashua was off world, who knows where Vocado was, and Ochra wanted nothing to do with Kayen. That left Tarch, who was the only one on the planet. Now the issue was to find him. Sure, Ochra could sense energy, but the problem was that Tarch had the ability to suppress his power. This meant Ochra had to comb the entire planet, seeking out any power that might be him. And there were a LOT of people on this planet. Plenty of strong people. How was he going to find Tarch in all of that. Stupid strong people! Right now, Ochra was hovering over the Southern Tropics, trying to pinpoint where he would look next. He was picking up a power in the area, one that was relatively low. He wasn't sure whether to check it out, or just ignore it. After all, what would Tarch be doing out here anyway? Dammit, why was it so hard to find a Super Saiyan? Tarch

Like a firecracker in his ear, a familiar energy snapped Tarch from his reverie. Luckily it was far away. It didn’t seem like he was up to no good either. Either way, that impressive power could belong to no one other than Ochra. Though he couldn’t tell from his distant vantage point, Tarch got a sense that he must have been looking for something. The way he sort of flew around all over the place, almost frantically. He wasn’t looking for the dragon balls was he? That’s all the teen needed. After his two times on Namek, Tarch had enough dragon ball nonsense for one lifetime. Maybe he was just going for a pleasant flight through the breezey fall air. Regardless he figured it couldn’t hurt to say hi.
Taking off into the sky, Tarch sped toward the familiar saiyan. He only stopped halfway when a sudden thought hit him. Should he be super saiyan for this? Nashua always told him this form wasn’t a toy. But he wasn’t playing with it. He was trying to control it. That may be true, but he didn’t want anyone getting the wrong idea. Maybe he should turn off the blonde.
So now once more black-haired, Tarch sped over to Ochra. “H-hey there Mr. Ochra! What brings you to my planet?” Come to think of it, last time they met was on Namek. Pretty far away. He did feel really silly calling Earth ‘his planet’ though. “Er, I mean. Not MY planet… you know what I mean. A-anyway how’re you doing?”

As Ochra looked around, he mentally took note of the power below approaching him, and...changing? Now it was becoming something more familiar. The saiyan turned around, just in time to see a familiar saiyan youth approaching him. So, that WAS Tarch. But, what was he doing out here of all places? Well, he could worry about that later. Right now, he had found just what he was looking for. "Tarch, just the person I was looking for." There was no hiding the relief in the Saiyan's voice. He couldn't help but notice that Tarch was feeling a little, well, at unease. Was something wrong? If Amara had been right, than this boy had nothing to worry about. "It's a long story," Ochra replied, "Basically went to Arcose in a self imposed exile, got the living crap kicked out of me, and next thing I know, I'm on Earth, and more asskickings for me after that." Ochra shook his head, "But that's not important now. I've been looking all over for you." He took a deep breath. He may as well clarify. "I had heard that you had achieved the form of Super Saiyan. Is this true? If so, I need your help."Tarch

Ochra was looking for him? Not Nashua or Vocado? Him? He’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel pride swelling up in his chest. This was the first time an adult came to him for help. Especially someone as serious or at least as mature as Ochra. Tarch was glad to help a fellow hybrid out. Even if he didn’t know what it was yet.
“Well, I’ll help you out as best I can Mr. Ochra!”
First came a little beat of exposition. Tarch nodded along, not fully understanding why anyone would exile themselves. He knew the older half saiyan didn’t agree with Kayen too much. If the Queen exiled him that would at least make a little bit of sense, though not much more. Then he went on to describe his recent beatings. Heck, Tarch lost most fights he was in. But as he learned with Mr. Vocado, adults saw losing as a very different beast. So naturally, he assumed he wanted help kicking the butts of anyone that beat him. Then came the true kicker. Super Saiyan.
“O-oh…” Tarch fidgeted slightly. How did Mr. Ochra even find out? Was he being too easy-going with the transformation in his training? Mr. Vocado would probably be furious, or at the very least disappointed seeing his protege potentially abusing such a powerful form. No sense lying now though. He did say he’d help. “Yeah. I have. I even got it to a point where I don’t feel angry using it anymore. Honestly, though, if it’s about super saiyan specifically I don’t know how I can help. B-but I said I would so I’ll try my best!”
Despite his clear trepidation, Tarch gave a firm nod and a light smile along with it. He couldn’t help but worry he’d be asked to try and help Ochra achieve the form himself. It was a pain he knew he was physically incapable of inflicting on another living being. Then again, maybe he just needed someone with super saiyan strength to help out? Just because he needed a super saiyan’s help didn’t mean he needed help with super saiyan. Right?

Good, Tarch was willing to help him. Then again, the boy always seemed to helpful sort, so that was to be expected. The instant he brought up Super Saiyan, Ochra noticed him getting a little nervous. So, the boy was trying to keep his new status secret. Then again, if that was the case, how did Amara find out about it? Well, he was a boy. They all were a bit careless when they were his age. And he even had the transformation under control. Perfect! Just what Ochra needed. He took a deep breath, trying to clear his head before speaking. Even though the boy stated he didn't know how he could help, Ochra could at least try. "Well, I know for certain regarding the transformation, you need to get angry. I mean, REALLY angry. And, for someone like me, who's really good at controlling their emotions, it takes a LOT to make me that angry. And...that's the problem. I can feel it trying to come out, and my mind is not taking that well at all." he hoped Tarch was able to understand this. He let out a small sigh. "Basically, I need to be able to do one of two things. Either A). find a way to suppress this so I don't explode into a destructive force of Super Saiyan fury, or . find a way to transform WITHOUT completely losing my shit and taking half the planet with me. And since the former is proving harder and harder to accomplish, I've decided to try a crack at the second one."He looked over at Tarch, "So, since you have experience in this field, how was your transformation? How did you manage to keep yourself in check?"Tarch

Tarch listened intently to Ochra’s concerns. While they all made perfect sense to him, the teen was unsure how he could be of any help. It seemed as if everyone he knew transformed in a different way. For someone like Ochra, the bubbling anger was not enough. Tarch also had no intentions of putting even his worst enemy through the same pain that it took for him to reach the super transformation. So all he could do was follow along with the older hybrid’s line of thinking. It seemed his choices were getting angry or finding a new way. If only it were that easy. Luckily this did leave to a question he could answer.
“Me? Well, actually it was a lot of things.” Even without the pain of his loss, the memory was clear as a summer sky. “For me it was guilt, and then revenge. My best friend went on a rampage to destroy West City because everyone he loved left him alone. I didn’t know his family was gone so I was guilty too. I tried so hard to get him to stop, tried to show him how much I cared. I NEEDED to show him so I could stop him. But I couldn’t do it. I came close, I thought I accidentally killed him. Then he nearly clawed out my eye.” Tarch lightly traced his left pointer finger along the indented line running across his eye. “And then…” For the first time, his words began to falter as his tone became shaky. This was the only part he hated remembering. “When he killed my mom. That was what finally set me off.”
Tarch closed his eyes. He took a deep breath. When he opened them again, his icy blue spheres were a teal green, his hair quickly shooting up in a pale yellow blaze. “I don’t think it was just anger for me. Everyone I talked to about it said it was something different.” The hybrid decided to keep the names and reasons private. They were not his to tell. "I guess for me it was grief. So I think super saiyan doesn’t have to be anger… more like… pain. Pain and the need to fight it.”
Finally, Tarch’s somber expression lightened up. He quickly waved his hands in front of his face, “B-But that’s just what I think! To be honest I’m still trying to understand it myself. I mean heck. After I first transformed I couldn’t even use super saiyan on my own like I can now! It was always triggered by something else. Nothing as bad as before but... I think you get it. So maybe we can find you a way that won’t get anyone killed?”
He put a finger to his chin. There had to be some other way of getting it right? He thought back to what others had told him. “Well, I don’t know if this helps. I heard an old story about the first super saiyans from Kayen’s brother. He’s a lot nicer than she is,” that felt like a very necessary warning, “But he said that the power of super saiyan came to them when they had a great need of it. Huh…” as he said those words aloud, a sudden thought clicked in his head, “pain and a need. The first part sucks.”

Ochra listened quietly to Tarch's words, hearing of how he transformed for the first time. The pain, the struggle, the rage. All of it. Ochra had figured it would take something like that, in order to transform into such a powerful form. He could only wonder what triggered Nashua, Kayen or Vocado in that case. He didn't think they went through anything like that themselves. And Ochra wasn't even sure if he would experience something like that. He had plenty of pain in his life. Loss of family, the torture and pain he suffered at the hands of the Fleet, his loss of leg. And yet, all it did was build up the anger inside of him, not really helping with the release of it all. Something he said did peek Ochra's interest. Kayen had a brother? Well, this was certainly new. And he wasn't a total asshole. Maybe Kayen was the exception in her family. Then again, it could be the brother. But Tarch did bring up an interesting point. Need. Need was certainly an aspect of transforming. He gave a small nod. "Amara and I think it might be the same way. Before, when I was on Arcose, I didn't really care if I lived or died. And simply sparring doesn't do anything either. It does seem that in order to unlock the transformation, I would actually NEED to transform. Something to push me into transforming in order to accomplish something." Though right now, the only thing he could think of is if anyone else was in danger. And Ochra didn't want to put people at risk like that. Tarch

This time every thought seemed to click into place almost perfectly. It was no wonder Ochra didn’t transform on Arcose, wherever that was. How could he get power in a time of need if he didn’t care about his own life? How could he care about the lives of others without a care for himself? Finally, Tarch felt like he was getting a handle on this. Maybe not on his own super saiyan transformation, but perhaps Ochra’s. The younger hybrid didn’t even hesitate in telling him his new thoughts.
“Well that’s just it!" he began in a steadfast tone, “You need to fight FOR someone or something. You said you didn’t care about yourself on Arcose. Well, if you think like that then obviously it won’t work.” This was still just the words of a very naive teenager. He knew he could never call himself an expert on something so complex as human emotions. Heck, most teenagers barely have a grasp on their own feelings. “That’s just my guess anyway. Now about your other question…”
Though much more optimistic, Tarch was once again stumped. How did someone like Ochra avoid losing control of something so monstrous? He still had painful memories of hurting those he loved in his own fits of uncontrollable rage. Even out of Super Saiyan Tarch could feel his human temper mix with his saiyan drive to hurt and destroy. But that was only in really bad situations.
“This one, I’m honestly not sure. Maybe you can bring someone with you? Someone you can trust that’s also really strong? Otherwise… I don’t know how to control it when it first hits you. It’s just so much all at once. I know how to control it now. But I think that’s different.” Tarch placed a hand on his chin, lowering his power back down to his base level while remaining blonde. Who could possibly stop someone as strong as himself if he ever lost control? Maybe he was going about this the wrong way?
“You know. I think worrying about losing control makes it worse. Maybe it’s all in here,” he pointed to his temple with an almost goofy grin. “You just need to remember what drove you to be a super saiyan in the first place. Besides, you’re already really strong! I’m sure you can handle something like super saiyan! And heck, if you feel yourself losing it you can come to me. Us hybrids gotta stick together.” He ended, giving Ochra a big thumbs up. He really was a naive child of hope, and he prayed that hope was contagious.

Ochra couldn't help but nod at Tarch's words. So, they were in agreement about the whole thing. In order for the transformation to happen, Ochra actually needed to care about himself. He cared about others, sure, but he didn't want to subject others to danger to force the transformation, or endanger them by transforming near them. There was the option of having someone nearby who could stop him if he ran rampant, but who would want to stick around him for ages, just in the off chance he transformed? He doubted anyone would want to devote that much time to it. Though then Tarch said something that made sense. Focusing on it so much might be making things worse. After all, a wound was more painful when you focused on it. Perhaps Ochra had been thinking too much into this. When he noticed the lingering anger, he had been focusing and worrying about it ever since. Maybe...he just needed to step back and worry about something else. "You know, I think you're right..." Ever since he came to Earth, he noticed that his anger had been, well, much more controllable. When he was on Arcose, he had been alone, with his thoughts. But here, there was much more for him to do. "Maybe, for the time being, I should focus on something else. It's been a while since I brought in any bounties. I've got to get back to work after all." At Tarch's offer to help him if he needed it, he gave the young Saiyan a nod, smiling. "Thank you Tarch. I appreciate it."Tarch

A satisfying warmth flowed through Tarch as his words seemed to strike a chord with the older hybrid. He did something good today. He took something monstrous and daunting and made it something at least a little easier to understand. But he didn’t want to end it there. From his response, Ochra seemed both happy with Tarch’s explanation, but also perhaps a little let down? Maybe he was just reading too much into the situation. The older hybrid just seemed really quick to let the topic go. Either way, he didn’t feel right just leaving Ochra after giving him such a lesson.
“O-oh. Well uh… You’re welcome! And hey! Maybe before you go we can work on it right now?” That sounded like it could potentially come off a little wrong. Tarch was way too nice to try and bring out so much raw emotion. But maybe something to help bring down his anger? “I don’t mean I try and make you angry!” he corrected hastily, “I just mean maybe we can… I dunno, work on controlling power?” That sounded much better in his head. Out loud it sounded a little lame, at least to him it did. “I mean, I’m trying to control super saiyan now too. And you want to be ready to control it when the time comes. So I figured we could try and work on it somehow. Or maybe I can help you with something else.” The fact of the matter was, super saiyan training or not, Tarch felt the need to help a fellow half saiyan after all this.

When Tarch offered to 'work on it', Ochra paused, quirking an eyebrow, as if silently asking for an explanation. Well, he wasn't referring to turning him into a Super Saiyan or anything like that, but more about power control. Well, Ochra wasn't sure how it would help him at the moment. Yes, he had gotten much stronger, but he had a fairly good grasp on his current power. If anything, it seemed like Tarch was the one that needed the help, since he was working to control the power of a Super Saiyan. Well, so much for being able to control it right after the first transformation. Still, the fact that he wasn't a ball of fury right now was certainly something to give him confidence. "Hmm, perhaps that's something I can help you with. I mean, I can't really do anything until I have the power myself, but the least I can do is help you control it." Granted, he seemed to have a pretty good grasp on his power already. But Ochra wanted to help him. "Well, perhaps we should start with what you have difficulty with? Transforming doesn't seem to be the issue. Perhaps power output?" He'll try to provide what he could. Tarch

“Exactly! I can transform like it’s nothing! I mean, I don’t wanna brag,” Tarch’s cheeks burned a little as he immediately put his foot in his mouth. The hopelessly innocent boy was never one to show off, especially when talking about something as serious as super saiyan. “But yeah. Before I was a super saiyan I had trouble putting out my full power. Now I can’t STOP putting out my full power. I may seem at a low power level now but… See it’s like…” As he continued to speak, the right words just would not come to him. How did he describe what was going on inside him? It was like trying to describe how his hearts and lungs worked. Sure he knew how they worked and could even describe them. But that was because he learned about it. He had yet to learn this.
“Maybe I can show you instead.” Tarch held out his fist. After a couple of deep breaths, his hand ignited in an absolute torrent of icy blue fire. Both his fire and his aura began to flare out of control, showing Tarch’s full power. Or close to it. Luckily the fire stayed put. With him flying so high up, there was little worry about hurting anyone down below. Now how did he get this to stop? No matter how hard he tried, the ball of rampant energy would not go down. As the beginning of panic began to set in, Tarch had only one option come to mind.
He chucked the ball of fire into the sky, creating a resounding crack. The people below probably thought it was a firework… a very big firework. “Yeah…” he panted, “I think that sums it up. I can turn super saiyan and even stay in it. It feels so natural until I start fighting or doing anything Ki related.” The younger half saiyan took a moment to catch his breath before laughing. “I think I used more energy to try and stop that then I did making it. So do you think you can help me out?”
