Typha Powerlevel:147,000 Yudi Powerlevel:5,000
Typha and Yudi had heard of an upcoming competition in the Tenka'ichi Budokai Grounds but it was not a martial arts tournament. This was a weapon competition. They were asking to see if they could cut a powerful meteorite that had fallen from the sky. Typha was pretty excited about this since he could enter but he also hoping that Yudi could get some good experience. Their would be many master of weapons in the area. Sure they were stronger then many of them but it didn't mean they were not more aware of the art of swordsmanship. Typha was also hoping he'd run into many good warriors in the little competition. There was a lot he could learn and if he was honest he was not worried about cutting the meteorite. He was quite sure he could cut through almost anything with his blade. He had the power to cut it through maybe he couldn't with just his skill. Typha was just getting giddy thinking of all that could happen when this all started. Typha and Yudi sat waiting looking over all the master swordsman who were already there. Still Typha sensed no one over his strength nor Yudi's.

CUTTING DEEP| Ramen's PL: 175,000 |
It had been quite a long time since Ramen had last visited the Tenka'ichi Budokai. The historic grounds were always a sight to see: as plain as they were on the outside, every martial artist worth her salt knew that this place had a storied past. Some of the greatest fights every waged on Earth had taken place on these very grounds. Though the rings themselves were mostly new, having been replaced or repaired countless times over the years due to the destructive power of some fighters, the lineage remained. She had arrived today looking mostly for an opportunity to hone her skills, but the site seemed to be hosting some sort of weapons-based competition.
Kayen always fought with a sword, and to her knowledge, so had a couple other of the warriors Ramen had encountered in her trials. But she herself had always indicated that weapons were unnecessary: an excess, something that could come to be relied on but that did not reflect the true skill of the warrior wielding it. But for the sake of the day's contests, and in the interest of trying to keep an open mind, she swallowed those criticisms and proceeded onward.
"I don't have a weapon of my own," she told one of the event's organizers. "But if I can, I would like to... rent one. I have a little training with some weapons -- I don't know if you've heard of some of the smaller schools, but..." she trailed off mid-explanation, turning to catch a glimpse of a Konatsian. Not just a Konatsian, but Typha. She stared blankly, unable to even process whatever the organizer had decided to say in response. He could have been holding a sword out for her to take and she probably would have missed it.
"Typha?" she blurted out, incredulously. "You're a long way from home!"

Typha all of a sudden felt some large ki arrive in the area? He didn't expect anyone stronger then him to be here. Typha looked around trying to sense where exactly they were or who they were. Typha could tell for sure but he had felt it before. Yudi looked at him "Something up?" Yudi asked as Typha nodded. "Yah I can..." Before he finished the thought a voice broke his focus. It was Ramen! Typha smiled a bit, it was good that she was ok. Last time he had seen her she and Nashua had been there when they faced off with Monster. "Yah I have a lot to do. I have been running around from Namek to Earth, I guess I do need to back to Konats soon huh?" Typha laughed. Yudi looked on confused, he had never meet Ramen before nor heard of her.
"Anyway, it is a long story. Monster the foe we faced on the lookout was not fully sealed. So he went to Namek and I encountered him. He tried to kill the new guru of Namek and some others So I stopped him. Sadly he was too strong for me and I died." Typha shrugged. "I was able to meet the universe's greatest martial arts teacher so I've become a lot stronger. I could probably face agiasnt Monster now." Yudi grunted. "Don't let it get to your head. Your still a fool for wanting to charge in and die for heroism or pride." Yudi snorted. Typha laughed. "Maybe but I gotta do what I can to protect people. So anyway Ramen, I didn't think you were the type to use a sword what brings you out here?"

CUTTING DEEP| Ramen's PL: 175,000 |
Ramen glanced to Yudi, giving him a brief look over. Given his power relative to Typha, she had to assume he was some sort of assistant or student. Perhaps not unlike that Saiyan that always followed Kayen around. She gave the ogre a short nod, before returning her gaze to Typha himself. "I actually wound up on Konats, not that long ago. It was by accident, and I didn't stay long, but it was nice to see... uh, people."
She had never known Typha to be one for boasting. Dramatics, maybe -- but not when it came to his own achievements. That made it all the more surprising when he claimed to have been trained by the greatest martial arts teacher in the universe. The idea was absolutely absurd, of course. But given who it was coming from, something about it had to ring true. She gave him a long, studious look. His power had certainly grown since last they met. But that was only one aspect of it: aliens who had never lifted a finger in training sometimes still managed to exude power. No, it would be his skill in combat that really tested the truth of his claim.
She made a note of it for later.
"Weapons aren't really my thing," she pressed forward, shaking off his earlier comment for the time being. "But in order to stay in good fighting order, I need to at least understand these sorts of styles. I -- admittedly came here looking for something else. But since this is what's going on, I figured... you know, why not take a look?"
Her eyes flicked between the various weapons-masters in the courtyard. Swords were popular, but surely there was more variety than that here. "If I decided to try something out, what would you recommend?"

Ramen had gone to Konats on accident? That was good to know she had seen the planet. "I hope things were going well. I have not been back in a long time I must admit." Typha rubbed the back of his head. He needed to head back as soon as possible. Typha then nodded as Ramen explained what she was doing here. She wanted to learn about weapons to keep her style up to date. That made a lot of sense to him it would be wise to be able to fight against those who used weapons that were not one's fist. Typha was more than practiced changing how he'd fight based on his foe's weapons or lack of. When she asked what weapon she should use Typha rubbed his chin.
"That not an easy question. Personally on Konats we all learn to use swords. Few here and there learn to use spears or bows but mostly swords. I think it really is up to how you like to fight. I personally think a sword is best for a more technical approach but even then you have nuisance of blades. My friend Yudi uses a Katana which is different from the blade I use." Typha showed his main sword. "He can practice Iaido Techniques quick drawing the blade to make use of its design for quick strokes with good cutting power. Yet the blade is thin so that may not be best if your fighting someone as strong as you and me. If you're a warrior you want a weapon that can take blows especially if you're overspecialized as such." Guess Typha somewhat fell into that camp. "Anyway it is a complex question it is the same in martial arts everything is different and for some people, certain weapons are more natural." Typha rubbed his chin still trying to figure out a good weapon for Ramen.
