The peaceful, late-morning lull of the CURE office building's front lobby came to a sudden halt. At the far end of the great entryway, the heavy steel door that lead to the stairs was thrust open hard enough to tear it from its hinges. As the door slammed into the opposite wall and knocked a piece of the fine embroidery off, a small, blue creature whizzed past at speeds too quick for the unassisted eye to comprehend. As it barrelled its way past the lunchtime crowds, the creature filled the air with a small, yet powerfully high pitched laugh.
Seconds later, a second figure emerged from the stairwell, though much less quickly. The white lab coat she wore had been torn in long strips, baring the slacks and dress shirt she had grown to habitually wear to the office. Her blue eyes hardly stayed on the destroyed door for a few seconds as she raised her voice to the gathered masses, "Nobody move!
"Stay perfectly still, and I'll have it captured momentarily." Nikel instructed the throng of assembled humans and non-humans alike, though few seemed intent to listen to her words. While the faceless masses reacted as frightened animals were want to do, the android's sensory systems scanned through the crowd. Her worry of interference was proven sound, though none in the lobby seemed to have as high a life force as the creature which she sought. Besides, seconds later, the high pitched scream and laugh filled the air again, and the diminutive, blue form leapt up and to the second floor.
"Security, lock down the building and get to the second floor," she shouted over the noise below while her body lifted weightlessly off the floor. As she flew to the exposed hallways of the upper floor that overlooked the lobby, her demand was repeated over the company's scouter signature, along with further warning, "This is Nikel with research and development. A biotechnological entity has escaped the lab; it is small and blue, with an elevated life force reading of two thousand-five hundred. I need it captured alive!"
