There had been a number of incidents recently, all involving a strange little object. This object's shape was a mystery to authorities but many claimed it was just a diamond shaped device with runes etched into it. It had been floating around the outer edges of society for a while not, but details were scarce on it. But one thing was consistent with its details, it was causing great misfortune to those who came across it. In truth the 'relic' was a device Dojiro had created with foul magic, using it to entice greedy humans into killing each other over it. He had spread the rumor that if you managed to live for a week with it in your hands, then you would have a massive boon of your choosing granted... But that was a lie naturally. Currently Dojiro was simply standing next to a rock formation, eyes watching a pair of greedy villagers maul each other over the device. Stabbing each other with it, fighting and biting. It was evident they had only just gotten it and had been arguing over who would get to use it. Dojiro however, was stone faced bored by now, having witnessed this scene many times already. With a sigh, the boy would turn before holding out a hand in exaggerated disappointment, shaking his head as he walked away. He would need to create a new toy to play with he supposed. His mind began to go over the possible choices, a magical device that potentially turned all you ate into ash so you starve to death? No the medical equipment of today would keep them alive... Perhaps he could invent a device that caused hemorrhaging of blood? No that was to movie classic and people wouldn't believe it. "Hmm...."Dojiro muttered to himself as he exited the rock formation, his hands already at work. His magic flowing freely as he slowly shifted the dark magics about, like a sphere of darkness rotating in his palms as he tried to think of something good. It was then that it hit him and his eyes lit up for a moment. A device that could heal the wounds of the sick, but drains their life force rapidly so they age to dust in a matter of days! Ahh it played upon the human heart for those they love AND it caused great misery! Dojiro's face twisted into an sadistic grin, a dark look taking hold as he swirled the magic about into an idol. A simply stone idol that had a blank face and looked Today was going to be a fantastic day indeed! He just needed a way to introduce it to the public and he would be all set. Oh how much fun was this going to be! He normally didn't pursue such trivial things but this week felt like a good time to take a break from cutting up his test subjects. He needed to find a hobby after all and what better way to bring down the whole family then some good old wholesome funerals?

"Repeat what you just said." A calm Creme commanded, kneeling next to a trembling human adult, the taller man seeming comically afraid of the scrawny guy before him. "You won't be in trouble, Twist. I just need to know..." A cold-coated fist slammed the wooden floor, splintering it and sending a gust of cool air across the room. "WHAT THE HELL YOU MEANT BY, 'MAGIC DEVICE'!?" Magic was real, of course. It was magic that had granted Creme his powers in the first place, but the description he had been given was ludicrous. Readjusting his glasses, he let out a deep breath. "Okay, okay. I'm not mad. See? I'm very calm. Now, explain to me why half the squadron here apparently murder each other over a floating polygon."
Having an affinity for... ice, obviously, Creme didn't often show up to the sect of his Syndicate all the way on the edge of a desert. However, a special report had caught his eye and the crime boss simply had to check it out in person. The tl;dr he had skimmed on his way over had reported that some sort of runic artifact had been casually taking up airspace, causing a bunch of randoms (including a few from his subordinate's subordinate's crew) to fight, maim, and potentially kill each other over the thing. "F-frost, sir, we tried to get rid of it with high caliber ammo, but nothing worked. We didn't actively seek the thing out, it was like it had a will of its' own!"
"..." Creme was silent for a moment, staring at the quivering man before lifting him effortlessly by the scruff of his collar. "Did you stop and think, for just one second, that maybe a magic artifact has to be made by someone with... MAGIC!?" throwing the gangster off to the side, uncaring of what the man did next, Creme stopped to rub his temples. "Oi oi oi... we finally get somewhere with our desert smuggling operations and some fuckwit wizard goes and screws it all up!" Desert travel was dangerous for a 'normal' human, but Creme was far from normal. "...Fine. I'll do it myself." Acquiring a pouch of water wasn't that difficult, and with the ability to form anything he really needed from magical ice that didn't melt under heat, he was ready. - It was pure luck that his search didn't take particularly long, Creme coming across a gaggle of villagers already busy tearing flesh and blood from one another in order to get at a small little artifact that looked exactly like it had been described. For a moment, a strange tinge of emotion washed over him - as if compelling him to go and grab it... but he pushed it down. This wasn't about whatever magical false promise it gave, this was about destroying the damn thing so he could get his business back up and running. "Gentlemen." He said, approaching the fight. Apparently, his nonchalance was enough to temporarily distract even the most violent of man, a few heads turning to him.
A quick stomp froze them over in Ki-infused ice. Unlike normal freezing, they weren't irreparably damaged from frostbite or having their vital systems stopped if he willed it - the villagers more akin to being trapped in a perfectly shaped, unbreakable (for them), oxygen rich glass prison. A few protested rather vocally when Creme grasped the object, a dark feeling washing over him again as he shrugged it off. Magically influenced rage wasn't really liable to affect him... is what he thought. Little was the human to know the true influence of Dojiro's magic diamond, but it certainly didn't have the intended effect on Creme.
A layer of ice quickly covered it, Ki rushing to his hand as the human began to apply pressure. If possible in such a short time, he'd attempt to fully shatter the artifact - rendering it useless and nothing more than shards of material scattered across the sands.

Dojiro was about to head off when he felt something, a sort of... off put feeling. The boy looking over his shoulder to where the device from before was located. It couldn't possibly be that someone was resisting his device? But then the sensation came of the artifact breaking, and Dojiro's eyes went blood shot for a moment, momentary rage eclipsing his eyes before he got himself under control. He took a moment to sense out the person in question, and behold to those with patience he was rewarded with the look of ones soul. Slowly Dojiro turned, his eyes darkening as he could see the soul of this human, tainted by magic just like his. Yet it felt chilled, akin to one who was bathed in the snows of a mountain.
Slowly Dojiro began walking back toward the individual in question. He knew it was foolish, after all, this person could very well be dangerous. But nothing ventured, nothing gained in the realms of science and magic. He peered out from behind the rock, the boy looking to see a particular person standing around with frozen people. It was evident that this man was magically inclined, and Dojiro's face twisted into a frown. Oh how he hated it when people ruin things of his but for now he would play nice. He came out from behind cover, walking forward confidently and with a smile.
"Oh hey there!"
Dojiro spoke out to alert the other to his presence, looking the man up and down to take in the full stock of who he was. The man was well dressed, had glasses and seemed confident in his presentation before those who would try to kill him for a magical device. So Dojiro knew he was someone who considered himself above the standard rabble about him. He was strong as well, so Dojiro was aware he would need to play this gently.
"I saw you freeze those guys."
A lie, but one easily thrown as bait.
"I didn't know people could do that sort of stuff! Haha!"
Dojiro gave a friendly little laugh, waving toward the frozen people. He wanted to know who taught this man or how he acquired his powers. If it made Dojiro more powerful then he would simply replicate the events, after all he was a genius! He was unrivaled in magical devices and the arts! What other could achieve he knew he could do it too!
"Names Jido!"
With that Dojiro wave give another wave but in a friendly hello fashion toward the stranger in question. First step was to become friends, or at least on a name basis with the individual!

Creme smirked as the object cracked from the pressure. "Magic or not..." He muttered, squeezing even harder - the Ki-infused ice cracking as the artifact was pushed further and further. Until - it snapped. Exploding into numerous shards which littered the sand like waste, never to be seen again. "...Everything can shatter." Grinding what little of it remained under his heel, Creme sneered and wheeled around - fully prepared to leave. A sudden beep on on his glasses-scouter combo caught his attention, the device set to only register and warn him when Power Levels exceeding one thousand were nearby. "Oi oi oi..." The human murmured, turning his head curiously to see who would possibly be approaching him after his display.
Their Power Level sat at a healthy nine thousand. Nowhere near enough to give him any real trouble at a surface glance, but the crime lord wasn't arrogant enough to assume that energy suppression or a sudden transformation were out of the realm of possible happenings. Hence, turning to face Dojiro before he even spoke, Creme glanced at him with guarded curiosity. "It's not very often that you see people this far off in the desert that aren't natives." He noted, tilting his head and examining the foreign outfit Dojiro was garbed in. Not like Creme was any better, but unlike the iced villagers this newcomer looked far different.
"Did you, now?" Creme said neutrally. "How luck that you were hidden out of sight while this fighting was going on. Any closer and you might've been afflicted by the terrible magic in that floating diamond." Looking straight at Dojiro, the human tilted his glasses down a bit. "That would've been tragic, wouldn't it?" Shrugging in an overexaggerated manner, he snapped his fingers - the 'frozen' villagers instantly thawing and just now noticing how much damage they'd done to each other. Of course one started to scream in pain, which resulted in Creme's boot being swiftly implanted in his back.
"YAKAMASHI! GET OVER IT, PRICK!" A ki-infused strike sent the villager rolling through the sand a good ways away before they got up and ran away - in a direction that Creme didn't bother to note. Readjusting his eyewear, he regarded the half-breed coldly. "Jido, is it?" A short name. Possibly his name, but possibly not. "A stranger like you can call me Frost." He stated, not bothering to wave back. "Tell me, Jido, what is it that you're doing so far out in this desert near the site of this floating device causing so many issues?" It could be a coincidence of course, but once pressure was put upon a person they usually had 'ticks' or 'tells' that revealed lies.

Dojiro remained calm and collected as the man spoke about it being tragic. The boy's smile turning dangerous as his eyes narrowed, This man was interesting, he liked that cold calculating look in this... frost's eyes. It showed a strong and clever mind behind those eyes and Dojiro wondered what would happen if the man's mind was placed in a demon's body. But that idea was out of the question until the boy could defeat the man in combat, which currently was out of the question. Dojiro's features softened as he was asked a question, reasonable in sorts.
"OH! I was here with my team researching or well i should say searching for the palace said to lie in this desert. They say magic could be found there! We are so excited to try to find out just what secrets could be found there! We are hoping to share what we find with the world!"
Dojiro's response was quick, clean cut and to the point. Calculated to the word, but that was yet to be seen if he was believed. Dojiro's smile remained friendly as he looked to the others in question.
"I let my team go a head, I was just packing up to leave. I suddenly heard a bit of fighting going on and I was curious!"
Dojiro gave a dismissive wave, his eyes closed as he chuckled. They say that laughter from a friendly person was a good way to lower ones guard, but knowing this person it wouldn't. He was upfront, straight forward in his way of dealing with his subordinates. It was evident he was a no none sense kind of guy, or at least that was the vibe he gave off. Dojiro had played many faces during his 700 years of being alive. From the victim, to the friend, to the predator... All of them had been practiced to lower demon's guards so the boy could feed on them. What stood before creme was a human who didn't fall victim to the demons... but rather turned the tables and began to devour their souls in turn. If he could see souls, then he would see that Dojiro's soul was an amalgamation if a multitude of souls. An abomination of screaming demon's begging to be set free with the pleas of the damned. Dojiro... was a monster wearing human skin. Yet this monster was weak fortunately to those around him.
But that would change with time...

"How altruistic of you." Creme said dryly, a single eyebrow raising slightly in response. "Aren't you a little young for a groundbreaking researcher?" The human was incapable of truly picking apart Dojiro - or anyone else for that matter - on a mystical level. His method of gauging strength was as cold as he was. Machinery, well-blended in with glasses as to not trip anyone off. Practical and stealthy, perfect for a ruthless and calculating person in the occupation he was. "I didn't think people really believed in magic." Creme said casually, flexing his hand a layer of frost rolled off it - quickly evaporating in the desert's heat.
"In fact, if I recall, when you saw my powers you specifically stated 'I didn't know people could do that sort of stuff'. And yet..." He tapped the rim of his glasses in faux thought, leaning a bit closer to the hybrid. "It seems odd that someone who had been researching magic would say something like that, don't you agree 'Jido?'" Leaning back, Creme gave a non-committal shrug. "Far be it from me to question a scientist, heh. Kami knows I am not one myself." At least, he wasn't in the traditional sense of the word.
"And certainly your team would be missing you by now. Especially if you told them you were investigating strange sounds or had simply wandered off without saying anything first... why don't you let me escort you back? The Desert can be dangerous this time of year, you know." It wasn't a complete lie. The unrelenting heat, bandits, and pitfalls into stupidly designed ancient ruins could be the bane of many a person's day. "After all, I wouldn't want you to get caught up in some trouble and tragically perish. I don't think I could live with myself if such a thing happened."

Dojiro wasn't surprised his little lie was contested, in fact he would have been disappointed otherwise. It was clear that this man was trying to trip up Dojiro, but the little man would not be distressed. Rather he smiled and gave a good hearted albiet fake laugh. This was amusing to say the least, but given his opponent was much stronger than he was, brute force could become an option at any point. Dojiro held out a hand then, gesturing to the cold he had created.
"I stated nothing that should seem out of the ordinary. I said we were looking for a place where magic was 'said' to be. If only I could use magic like you could, our jobs would be so much easier!"
Dojiro's logic there was not flawed, as he had not stated where the magic lay, people used it. Magic was a state of being, similar to demon realm, a place full of dark magic. A place where magic was "located" was not something out of the ordinary. Suspicious fellow this one, but Dojiro couldn't be happier. But he was no match for his genius. The boy had numerous counter arguments for days, even as he stood silently with a grin on his face.
"As for my team... did I not say they had already returned? Clean those ears mister Frost, and I'll teach ya a thing or two. Because unlike my appearance, I am very much older than I appear."'
Dojiro's eyes would open then, revealing a sinister hint in his darkened brow. An air of deathly cold, unlike that of frost, but one of killing intent. But it was gone as fast as it had appeared. Dojiro going back to his casual and friendly self, even if it was completely faked. Though unlike someone who was an amateur in this, Dojiro had spent years practicing how to appear harmless. He had purposely let his murderous intentions roam free, if only for a moment, just to let the man know he was simply toying with him mentally. He felt completely in control of the conversion, and held no feelings of doubt within his attitude. Dojiro was confident in his ability to out play this man.
"As for the risks involved with travelling alone, I am quite adapt at avoiding danger when it well suits me. So no need to worry, I have plenty of practice. But I do appreciate your concern, becoming of you as it were to fake such... concern."
Dojiro's hand disappeared beneath his cloak once more, now waiting and watching his opponents every move. Dojiro would use everything this man said and did against him till it was clear who the winner of wits would be.
