All, We are moving towards retrofitting some of the mechanics so that we can prepare for a larger development, including Tiered Traits. Some of these changes may not be obviously related to development, but are in terms of workload etc. The first of these retrofits, scheduled for this weekend, will involve: - Sagas/Open DEs will now be graded on Yes/No Bonus basis, with a TBD minimum award, and a TDB breadth-sensitive for all "Yes" participants. "No" participants will include those who earn a Saga Slacker Smackdown for being part of a peanut gallery. If it is determined that people are abusing the Saga/DE system for gains, they will also receive no bonuses.
- XP-Per-Word scores will change so that Little Man Bonus and Super Man Malus will only be calculated during XP -> PL conversions.
- Holy Frail will be reverted to its old debuff of a simple -x2, in anticipation of future changes (Shinjin Tiered Traits).
- A hard HP system will be established, including death at 300% damage taken.
Patch notes to follow after implementation.

Hello,
I was rather intrigued and would like to know. While my opinions on these changes won't be completely revealed just yet, my mind couldn't help but think. What was the thought processes and/or necessity behind this retrofitted patch in particular?

It was stuff we identified as necessary to flesh out before we started changing/building-up systems.
A big part of the job of development is eliminating ambiguity and, where possible, to simplify both on the user side and the developer side.
