Construction work was one of the few things that the teachings of Karo had been silent on over the years. The Line of Karo had a lot to say about defending places, particularly very specific fortifications like the Palace, but… rather less about how to build them. And in the end, all those teachings had been about as useful against the wrath of the Arcosians as a pillow fort. Still. As far as her completely inexpert and unqualified eye was concerned, construction seemed to be going pretty well. It was cold, of course. This far north, it was basically always cold. Vegia’s cape helped her weather it, though, the heated filaments doing wonderful work in fighting off the ever-present chill. At least it wasn’t snowing right this second, though, which made it easier to gain an appreciation for the careful work that had already been achieved. From the air, it was difficult to see the entrance into the mountain at all. There were a lot of caves on this mountainside, and most were little more than shadowy slits amongst rocky outcroppings. One of the larger of these had been selected, and the previous bear inhabitants had been absolutely delicious. Now, the interior of the cave carried on unbroken for a good fifty feet, before a small hole opened up into a wider chamber being carved deeper into the mountain. It was a lot of work, carving out the stone, using tools and careful energy blasts to reshape it into useable building materials, and smoothing out the floor of an artificial cavern. They were doing it, though, and whilst it might take them a very long time to make it somewhere even marginally comparable to a proper dwelling, they already had a place where they could shelter from the cold and the snow. In a place as inhospitable as this, that was a good start. Vegia was standing just outside the entrance to the cave, though, waiting for the prearranged visit from the Prince, and for the others she had contacted to meet him to make their appearance. It had been a few days since their arrival on Earth, and things were moving at a fairly respectable pace – she was proud of that, proud of what they’d achieved, even as she was intimidated by the amount of work that still lay ahead. There was always that bit of nervousness, though. She was always scared to be standing in the open. Always worried that the next sound she heard would be the distinctive roar of World Trade Fleet engines descending through the atmosphere, or the high-pitched voice of some space lizard. Every time she let Vocado out of her sight, she feared for his safety. She was pinning a lot on him. He was the Prince, the only Saiyan of any appreciable rank that she had found so far. If he fell, well… what hope was there? Still, she tried to fight those thoughts down. There hadn’t been any reports of the World Trade Fleet making it to the planet yet. She was even starting to dare to dream that they wouldn’t follow them. Maybe they could get through this. Maybe Vocado would be on time. Vocado Ghost Banzo Nashua

Returning to the frozen, blizzard covered mountain most certainly was not Nashua's idea. If they were going to be setting up shop somewhere, the woman would have definitely preferred somewhere warmer and easier to get to, though that may have been the whole point of making their base in such a remote location. The World Trade Fleet would probably have a hell of a time tracking it down, given that the almost permanent snow storm gave them perfect cover from above, below, and practically any direction. It also made it really annoying to find the place, as Nashua found herself almost freezing to death in the hour or two she frantically spent flying around the mountain in desperate search of the cave's entrance. She thought she'd found it on several occasions, but it would always turn out to be some oddly misshappen rock or a cave that wasn't quite the one Vegia had said she'd be standing at while she awaited.
So when the Saiyan garbed in purple did finally spot a familiar re cape fluttering with ferocity in the violent winds of the mountain, she made a beeline towards it with the last of her remaining strength before dropping down directly in front of the Saiyan named Vegia. "There you are!" Nashua exclimed through panting breaths as she rubbed her own arms down to keep warm. "I g-got a bit, uh, lost," she mumbled through her chattering teeth. "Sorry if I'm a little l-late!" Why hadn't she bought a coat? Or at least a jacket or a long sleeved shirt? Those were good questions, and Nashua was kicking herself for only asking them now. But hey, she'd made it, wherever this place was. And wherever this place was was not the kind of place that was easy to find.
"Um, I think I'll wait inside the cave, if you're still waiting on othe Saiyans to arrive," Nashua quickly said. While she doubted the cave would be as warm and cozy as the cabin she had spent the night at with Vegia a while earlier, it was going to absolutely be better than standing outside being pounded by the elements. Besides, that was what they were here for, wasn't it? Transforming this little cave in the middle of nowhere into their cool new secret base. It was going to be hard work, but Nashua had a feeling they'd be able to do it just fine. Without waiting for a reply from Vegia, she jogged past the royal guard and into the aforementioned cave.
It was cozier inside, but not exactly cozy. At the very least, Nashua was glad to finally be out of the snow, and she began ruffling her hair to get all the flakes that had made their home up in her brown mop out, and she sighed with annoyance as most of them began to melt and get her hair wet. Unfortunately, Nashua didn't currently have the luxury of drying herself off as she had before, so she simply sat down against the wall and stretched out her frozen and sore limbs. Hopefully the others wouldn't be too long.

"When they said the north, perhaps I should have dressed up a bit."
Vocado shivered intensely as he blazed through the sky, pulling his gloves up tight. Vegia had said their base would be hidden out here somewhere, but there was a lot of somewhere in the wintry north. The mountains had little but the most minute differences, and the blizzard currently brewing didn't help decide between them much either. Snow pounded down around him, and if it weren't for the warmth of his Ki, he might have already been taken by frostbite.
It would have been hours before Vocado found a hint of his allies, had his Scouter not blipped an incredibly high Battle Power around the bend. Twenty thousand was no slouch; had Vegia found someone from the royal family?
The Prince rounded the mountain, his eyes focused on the litany of caves etched into the mountain. Only one sported that massive power, and as he touched down across from the other Saiyan, he realized who actually possessed such energy.
Vegia had certainly grown.
"Morning, Vegia. Looks like you've been busy," he said, trying to mask his surprise.
The question was how; and more importantly, why had he fallen behind? Having a soldier as strong as Vegia on their side was good, but how could he let himself slip up? Maybe he'd been relaxing too much, or perhaps she'd been pushing herself incredibly hard.
But that wasn't the topic at hand. He avoided bringing it up for now, deciding instead to talk about their hidden base. He pointed toward the cave, a curious brow raised. "I suppose this is our humble abode? Seems... Inviting." Vocado let himself shudder from the cold involuntarily, and smiled sheepishly. "Maybe we should retire to the innards of the cavern?"

Vegia smiled faintly to Nashua as the woman found her. “It looks like I might have to make you a cloak after all.” She commented, noting the woman’s distress. It wasn’t going to be good if Nashua was so cold up here; this was likely to be somewhere they would be spending a great deal of time, and whilst a little discomfort could be useful for sharpening one’s prowess… too much and the poor Ambassador would get sick and be no use to anyone. “I’ll join you in a moment.” She said, though of course, she had no idea how long it would really take for Vocado to make it to the meet. When he did arrive, not long after, Vegia’s relief was palpable. The girl brought her fist to her chest in the traditional salute, and bowed her head. “My Prince.” She said, formally, “Yes, this is where we’ve been concentrating our efforts. It is difficult to see from the air, and we can use the mountain both as cover and as building materials. Hopefully the rock will help to hide us from World Trade Fleet attention.” She had no idea whether that would actually work. The inner mysteries of scanners and scouters were completely beyond her, but, she could hope, and it was the best idea that she had, because she had no idea how to suppress her energy. She’d heard that it was possible, but she didn’t have the faintest inkling how one was supposed to go about it. She didn’t acknowledge Vocado’s shivering, and instead just led the way into the cave herself. “I’ve been training.” She admitted, “But I suspect most of the increase is still down to my zenkai. It can take time to learn how to focus new energy, and as I mentioned before… I was almost dead when I arrived here.”She was aware, of course, that she was much, much stronger than she had been when they last fought… but she didn’t know the exact numbers. Without a scouter, it was difficult to be sure of one’s growth. She estimated she was probably somewhere in the 8000 to 10,000 range now – solidly in the Elite class rather than barely hanging on as she had been for so long. It was a good feeling, but she was still ignorant of the extent of her own fantastic growth. “Prince Vocado.” She said, when they were in the cave and in sight of the sitting Nashua. “This is Ambassador Nashua, one of the survivors of the attack on Planet Vegeta, and a loyal subject of the Saiyan Kingdom. Nashua, please let me introduce Prince Vocado of House Bone Moon, possibly the last surviving member of the Saiyan nobility living on Planet Vegeta.”There would doubtless be other Saiyan nobles who were off-planet, of course, but such wanderers usually had nowhere near the prestige of those who stayed on Vegeta. House Bone Moon might have a less than stellar reputation in the Court, but Vocado had at least been in the right place when the ancient enemy returned. Basko

Suddenly, from out of the snow, a glowing shape came plowing through the air. A spacepod, hurtling through the air. It hit the snowbank outside of the cave, coming to a sharp stop, and the door popped open as it did so. A hairy shape hurtled out of it, rolling across the stone floor like a ball as the momentum launched it out of it's transport. It went rolling across the floor, before slowing slightly. From the sudden roll, Banzo popped to his feet, throwing his hands in the air. "AND I'M HERE TOO!" Cried the mercenary, giving rapid jazzhands.
Dropping his jazzing hands, he put them on his entirely non-musical hips and looked around. "Sorry about that, needed to park my pod but got delayed. So, I'm Banzo. Privateer, Hybrid, technically an elite on my mom's side. I assume you must be the prince Vegia mentioned?" He stuck out a hand, grinning. "Pleasure to meet ya. What're we talking about?" He asked, looking around.
His eyes, however, were focused quite intensely on Vocado, watching his face and his stance. How would the man react to this admittedly rather silly display? Could he take it in stride, would he make an immediate judgement? What would he do?
He wasn't about to follow some hardass, self-important twit.

From deeper inside the cavern Basko walked toward the voices. His steps would have been noticeable as the hollow cave's interiors echoed loudly. Something that needs to be addressed as construction goes on. "Construction's well under way." Basko interrupted them heartily, though still with his unchanging serious look. "Little lady, as ordered."He gave a quick nod of reverence at Vegia before turning to the others who were part of the group. The privateer was there, the timid ambassador also, and Vegia who have clearly been busy training mostly. Their increase in power level was very noticeable for the old man who has a harder time boosting his strength. He gave a quick nod at them all, happy to meet his comrades once more. He was busy, going back and forth the earthling town gathering resources and blasting a hole into the mountain to expand their planned headquarters. This would be the staging point of the whole Saiyan resistance and Basko was proud doing his work. On his spare time, he would be cozy in town with one of the bar maids and had little time for personal growth and training. Still, he considered being strong enough for the time he would be needed in battle and serve his fellow saiyans. Only time will tell when battle breaks out and his strength of arms would be needed in battle, not only for the saiyans, but for the people of Earth who would definitely be in the crossfire. There was another person the group was with however, not too haughty or proud as the other elites but bore regal bearing. At first glance the man looked like a proud lion as with most princes, but he did not have the surety of leadership or of ferocity men of politics usually hold. He must have been the Vocado Vegia was talking about serving when they first met. He gave a quick size up of the man as he bowed low with his fist clasped on his chest to introduce himself. "I am Basko." Basko initiated. "Merely a low class warrior formerly of the Saiyan Defense Force, lord. If I may serve you, please direct me as you would.""The entrance of the cave will be shielded by a proper door." Basko exclaimed as he pointed to the walls of the cave's exterior. "The rest of the interior will feel like a proper saiyan mothership, don't worry. Perhaps the first rooms we'd need would be a communications room, a war room and maybe a room to get 'cozy' in, as our dear ambassador mentioned. It'll be home...for now."

Nashua wasn't really waiting for all that long before Vegia arrived with a taller, older Saiyan that Nashua didn't recognize. Although, she knew exactly who this must have been, with the firm and confident way he carried himself, as well as his Saiyan Kingdom garb. The Prince Vocado she'd heard mention of! And here she was, cold and wet, covered in half melted snow while sitting lazily in the corner of this damp, dark cave. Oh no, she couldn't let this be the way the Prince would see her for the first time! Nashua shot herself up at breakneck speeds, and afterimaged her way several feet in front of Vegia and the Prince, with her head already bowed in respect as she came out of the afterimage. As soon as Vegia finished introducing them, Nashua spoke.
"It is my honor to finally meet you, sir!" she said in a wavery, almost emotional sounding tone, though it wasn't intense emotion impeding her speech so much as it was her sore throat and rattled nerves. "I am Ambassador Nashua, as, um, Vegia just said! I am very much looking forward to working alongsi-" before she could finish her thought, a massive crashing noise erupted from outside, and in walked someone she wasn't really expecting to see. "Banzo?" she asked in a far less formal tone. "What are you doing here?" She knew Vegia knew him, since he'd been at their first meeting, but she was unaware he'd been called to help construct the cave as well. Nashua jumped in surprise again as another voice echoed through the cave, this one from behind her. The young woman glanced past her shoulder to see the older Saiyan, Ba... Batso? What was his name? He'd literally just said it. Why couldn't she remember?
Whatever, she'd just use pronouns for him until she heard his actual name again. It looked like they would have more people helping them to work after all! The young Saiyan had been worried it would just be her, Vegia, and Vocado doing all the work. Nashua cleared her throat, then said, "Er, yes, we should get right to work if we want to finish before the sun goes down. Not that that'd really affect how much lighting we have to work with here, but I'm sure we'd all prefer to be asleep by then." The Saiyan clasped her hands together and rubbed them, turning back to face the other three behind her. "What should we get to work on first?"

"I see. It's a good plan in concept, and its better than keeping things out in the open. I doubt their scanners will have more than a small inkling of trouble finding us if they knew where to look, though." He moved closer to the lip of the cave, already thankful for its protection from the frost. "We'll need to make sure nobody reveals the place on accident; having some scout pick us out because one of our soldiers wasn't looking for trackers would cost us."
Before they could even think about taking a trip inside, something blazed from the sky. A white-hot ball approached, and as it touched down, it both revealed itself to be an attack pod as well as spilling its pilot out into the snow. It seemed the owner had done this more than once, as they rolled to a standing, slightly theatrical position. Vocado tried to stifle a chuckle, but he couldn't exactly help it.
"It's good to see we can still enjoy ourselves in a losing war," he said, a smile cracking into view.
He clasped his hand around Banzo's and nodded strongly. "Prince Vocado of House Bone-Moon. Good to have you. We were just about to tour the new base of operations-- care to join us?"
Regardless of the mercenary's answer, Vocado would follow Vegia into the cavern, sighing contently as the frosted winds finally faded. The inside was nowhere close to complete, but it was the closest to home Vocado had felt in weeks.
Vegia introduced him to an ambassador, who had already begun greeting Vocado with an excited level of dedication. The Prince took a step back, before bowing back to her as honorably as he could muster. "An honor, Nashua."
As Nashua directed her gaze to Banzo, another Saiyan approached from further within. This one was older, more gritted. He was weaker than the lot here, but he had a heart to him that was hard to ignore. Vocado placed a fist to his chest, and dipped his head in respect to Basko. "Glad to hear you made it, soldier. And thank you for your assistance." His eye followed Basko's finger, as he explained his design plans for the future. Blast doors would be a fine step, but for now they needed to keep focus on the interior.
His focus shifted from both Nashua and Basko as he spoke. "Well, I'm not an expert on designing a base, but my gut instinct tells me we'll need to build our lodgings before anything. A war room or a communications hall is fine, but not if we need to sleep in them. Getting barracks and bedrooms settled first should be our immediate priority."

After the degree to which Vegia had dominated the initial meeting, providing the focus and the impetus for the Saiyans to rally together, it was impressive how quickly she faded into the background here. The young woman might have enjoyed an impressive growth in power, but it was good to fade back and let the Prince take charge.
After introductions were made, she stayed close at hand, but it was as though tension she hadn’t been aware she was carrying flowed out of her. Banzo’s explosive entrance was handled smoothly, much to her relief, and she smiled, dipping her head to Basko’s explanation that things were underway. The headquarters was coming together. She knew that, of course, but it felt as though they were finally starting to seize back some control over their own fates.
“Banzo agreed to help us fight back against the World Trade Fools.” Vegia said, gently, to Nashua. It was, perhaps, the most relaxed that the Ambassador has heard the teenager speak. “I thought it’d be a good idea for the Prince to meet him early on.”
She’d pegged the experienced mercenary as a potential troublemaker from the start, but he had quickly shown himself to be more than that. He was independently-minded, casual, and not at all disciplined…
To learn that he was one of the Elite was not the slightest bit surprising to her.
And the Prince smoothly pivoted from dealing with Banzo to addressing Basko with the kind of respect that a soldier deserved. Vegia was pleased; by the moment, it seemed that her faith in the Prince was rewarded. He knew how to deal with his people.
“I have also struck an agreement with one of the local corporations.” Vegia said, “They have agreed to help us if the World Trade Fleet attack the planet, so long as we try to keep fighting outside of major population centres. They can provide up to five travel pods each equipped with a Blutz Wave Generator. In exchange, they’ve asked to send a representative to a training session so that they can see our techniques in action.”
This, too, was a test in a way. She hadn’t asked anyone before she did it. If Vocado supported her, it reinforced her station in the group; if he rebuked her, that would put her in her place just as well. She wasn’t used to taking her own initiative; hopefully she hadn’t messed up.

Basko entered, and Banzo nodded at the other Saiyan as he took the prince's measure. He did, however, pay attention as Basko indicated the plans he had. However, he didn't entirely agree with the ordering. Before he could comment, however, Nashua spoke up.
"Here to help, Lass." He grinned, adjusting his bandanna with a thumb. "Figured I should make sure that I was keeping up with you guys." Tilting his head, he looked around, nodding. "Huh. Nicely done, Nashua." From the fight before, he had figured Nashua as about equal to him at the time. Since then, she had roughly doubled in Power Level. Vegia was sitting at around 20,000, and the prince at about 16,000, a bit above Banzo. Basko was lower, but that was rather to be expected. "Seems people have been training fairly seriously. Ochra was right, by the way, this Ki Sense is bloody useful."
Even better, the prince had a sense of humor. Vocado, huh...? He remembered that name in association with one of the princes, yeah. Interesting. Bonemoon wasn't the biggest house, but it had it's respectable points. Not that he cared much about all that, honestly.
When Vocado commented on Basko's idea, Banzo nodded. "Aye. Well called, Prince. Ya want a place to sleep. Then Bathrooms. Then a place to make food, and a source of it. Suspect we'll be hunting for a decent bit. After that, meeting room, then armory. Afterwards, it's a bit more flexible." Seemed the prince had some sense. Excellent. He was liking the guy already, honestly. He seemed personable, fairly strong, and quite reasonable to deal with.
Vegia seemed slightly put off by him. He was a bit... scruffy, was that the term people tended to use? Yeah, that fit. She was pretty formal, but she had said she was a royal guard. Made sense she'd see a lowly privateer as rather annoying. Still, she wasn't outwardly showing it that much, so no bother. They needed every asset they could get. As, it seemed, Vegeta had realized. She had managed to source several pods with Blutz Generators.
Nodding, Banzo gave a thumbs up. "Good call as well, Vegia. We should start practicing with our Oozaru forms if that's gonna be the plan, actually." He stretched slightly, considering. "My pod's generator works, but I dunno how to control my Oozaru yet. Bit of an ornery fellow. Last time I used it, the bloody thing headbutted a building so hard, my horns poked out the other side and lifted it like a forklift." Clapping his hands together, he leveled them at Vegia suddenly. "Speakin' of, I found some other fighters. Ochra, a bounty hunter that Nashua came across as well. Also found a human martial artist named Terryn, good bloke, and another mercenary about as strong as I am now who's here to fight those bald-headed douchecanoes." Dusting his hands, he placed them on his hips. "Been searching for others, will let ya know, but it seems like we aren't gonna be fighting without support. Earth will nae go quietly into the cold night, it seems." Really, the Saiyans and some humans were a lot alike. Perhaps they had common ancestors, far back in time?

While Nashua asked where to begin focus on the headquarters, Vocado stepped up to the plate and began overseeing priorities. Mostly the group were in agreement that living quarters were to be built first. Vegia was also busy, already off spearheading efforts with making alliances with the local powerhouses. Organizations who, unlike the villagers, would probably be of considerable help in the war effort and fighting back, not just in defense. Lady Vegia and Vocado seemed to be fitting well together, Basko thought. Whether there was tension between the two was only perhaps each of them testing out one another's ability to decide what's best. Indeed, they would be deciding for their whole lives the main course of action the saiyan kingdom will move on. Their survival depended on it. As an afterthought, Basko looked at the two and perhaps saw a possibility of young romantic tension between the two, though he did not dare speak it out loud and dwell on it. "Alright, alright." Basko politely deferred. "I will order the rest of the men to hasten the quarters for the officers. You all seem excited to move in. We will also make sure to prepare the storeroom and kitchen for the food. Refrigeration won't be a problem as the temperature in this forsaken place preserves the meat well. Prince. Banzo. Lady Vegia."If the others were going to be busy building up their strength and forces, he might as well do his part as a lower level saiyan and make the heroes' lives comfortable. They numbered around four at that moment, grunts who were mostly lower class and had begun constructing the facility day and night. Of course they would be even weaker than he, but he was the eldest and most experienced among them, even the young elites who had come to visit. He preferred the role of overseer of the base and mere adviser for the future leaders of their race. He and the rest of the grunts were at their beck and call. As of now, he had little time to train and boost his power as much as the rest of them, having already reached his peak at his late adult age and busy preparing the headquarters, or so he thought. Perhaps Earth would be a proving ground for death and destruction that would unlock Basko's latent potential, having never fought in a life or death situation back in the Defense Forces. Wherever his path may lead, he would always be behind this faction of saiyan claimants he has chosen to join with. "Shall we head further in?" Basko suggested. The party might be getting tired discussing standing by the entrance when there was aready considerable work further in. "We have small fire inside the largest section we've dug out. Some blankets some of the locals generously shared, too. We could discuss further inside."Indeed, they would be met by an impressive central chamber should they choose to follow Basko's advice. It was a large egg-shaped cavern hollowed inside the mountain with a small hole at the top. Should they finish constructing the facility, it would be a large circular chamber that would lead to the various rooms and facilities that will be built. It would be up to their discretion what to put in the center of it. Right now, it contained a bonfire creating huge shadows engulfing the room.

The Prince seemed like a nice person. He wasn't mean or hostile, at least. That was good enough for Nashua, so long as they had someone who could actually function as their leader. Not that she didn't doubt Vegia, of course! Royalty were just best suited for the job. They'd grown up and been raised in a position of authority and power, so clearly they had to be the best people for the job, right? Well, whether Vocado was a good leader or not, he seemed like somebody they could depend on. Banzo was still Banzo, of course, though he seemed to be impressed with something about Nashua. She didn't really know what, though. Did she change her hair since they had last spoke or something?
As Banzo went on to mention his blutz generator, Nashua got a little nervous. She hadn't really been an Oozaru very much; only once before, actually, and it hadn't gone super well. Quite a few lemonade stands met their untimely end on that day. The real concern was just when it came to controlling herself as an Oozaru, which she most certainly hadnt gotten the hang of. She was working on it, though. Maybe she should buy herself a blutz generator to try and figure out how to harness that other form? Its increased power would come in very handy when the World Trade Fleet decided to finally roll around...
Nashua looked up and around after momentarily falling too deep in thought to notice her surroundings, and realized Basko had led the others deeper into the cave without her. Whoops. Nashua hurriedly followed the others in, and found herself quickly caught up with them in the strange, large room with the bonfire illuminating the walls. The shadows it created were pitch black and very stretched out, and would have been perfect for creating shadow puppets if the situation they were in wasn't so urgent. Maybe they could have a shadow puppet competition once they'd finished all the work? Nashua was pretty good at it, and wouldn't have minded showing the others her skills.
Now wasn't really the time for that, though. Clearing her throat, the woman said, "I think this could be very nice, once it's finished." She gazed up and around at the walls, impressed with the amount of work that had already been done. It would look even more impressive once they'd finished, she imagined. Nashua glanced around at the others and waited patiently for some sort of orders, since she'd already asked and been answered about what work she was supposed to be doing just minutes earlier and was a little too embarrassed that she'd entirely forgotten what the response was. They'd tell her again, right?

"Right. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen. Shouldn't be too hard for us to whip up, right?"
Vocado returned his focus to Vegia, who spoke of alliances and deals. It seemed she'd been busy; a good thing, considering their presumably strict timetable. For all they knew the Arcosians would be touching down tomorrow, or perhaps they'd already made their own base on Earth.
"That's excellent Vegia. I've been doing some allying of my own. There's a fighting force called the Pride Troopers who offered to ally with us, though I've yet to solidify anything major." He paused for a moment, rolling his palm idly as he considered revealing something else. Would it be right to mention Ulic? No, maybe not yet. That was a bit more sensitive of a relationship to talk about in the open. For now he'd keep quiet.
Basko suggested they head further inward, to which Vocado gladly agreed. The room they were in now still invited the outer chill; the comforting flame in the central chamber was a welcome addition.
"Training Oozaru?" Vocado asked Banzo idly as he plopped down next to the fire. "Forgive me for sounding so foolish, but the thought hadn't even crossed my mind. I was only ever transformed into the state once, and it was on accident. My father always despised the Great Ape..." He chuckled as he turned his attention away from Banzo, and toward the roaring fire. "... Might be why he's dead now."
"But yes, training our ape forms is integral to success. No reason for us to act wild on the battlefield. We should make sure that none of us train without someone who actually has a mind in that state to watch over us and make sure we don't cause any unnecessary destruction. I hate to admit that I'd be as out of control as any trainee if we started training now... Vegia, you know how to control yourself in the form, right? Maybe you can 'lead the pack' as they might say."
Vocado sat up again, clapping his gloved hands together. "Right! We shouldn't idle too long, I should think. We should split up; get some things done." With a quick scan of the room, he began giving out orders. "Banzo, you think you could rendezvous with those allies you mentioned? See if you can get them to swing by the base some time so we can test them. Nashua, you and Basko can continue leading the charge here, get things set up while we're gone. Vegia and I can hunt for food and building supplies, and once we've done our rounds, I'll meet with the Pride Troopers and set up a more permanent alliance. Sound good?"

Vegia gave Banzo a dark look when he talked about controlling the Oozaru. She didn’t know what sort of joke he was making, but she didn’t find it funny. The Oozaru had always loomed large over her life as an Elite, figuratively and literally – and then, Vocado had to go and make it worse.
‘Vegia, you know how to control yourself in that form, right?’
It was a horrible question, because all at once everything seemed to fall onto her shoulders. She’d transformed a handful of times, and her family had attempted to beat control of the form into her. It was, awful. She remembered very little about the period each time, only the horrible sense of anger that the Oozaru brought over her, and the scorn of her family. Too weak to control the Oozaru. Too ill-disciplined. They explained the trick to it again and again, and she was incapable of overcoming her base instincts.
The girl seemed to freeze for a moment, and then she gave a firm nod.
“Control the Oozaru?” She asked, “O-of course! It’s, a piece of cake. The Line of Karo has techniques designed especially to help with just such a thing. I, I don’t know that I’m the best teacher in the world, but, of course, I can … try!”
The fishman wanted her to transform to show his business how it worked. She’d just have to work harder than before and master the Great Ape before she brought the generators back for the others. That’d be a piece of cake, right? It was only a skill that had eluded her all her young life. She could learn it in an afternoon.
The glow of pride from Vocado’s earlier compliment was completely swallowed by the sense of shame at her own deception.
She didn’t have long to feel guilty. The Prince was ordering her and the others into action, which was after all what he was here to do. She brought her fist to her chest and nodded her head in salute. Hunting and building supplies was definitely something that she could handle. She could worry about the Oozaru and making good on her promise later. “Yes, my Prince.” She said, as though it were some innate reflex.
“There’s not a lot of wild animals in the northern reaches of the planet, but all of the other directions tend to have something. There’s still a lot of wilderness on Earth.”
She was about to just start walking off to show Vocado what she meant, when she paused, and thought better of it.
“Before we go, though.” She said, “I just want to say, you know… thanks. Back on Vegeta, we’d probably never have even met, let alone worked together on something like this. It’s, really good to see everything coming together so quickly. Vegeta fell because they attacked us when we weren’t ready for it. No matter what winds up happening here, at least this time we’re going to be prepared.”

"Aye, sure. Let's go in." Banzo stretched, seemingly unbothered by the cold, but still eager to see more of the place they would be based out of. Strolling inwards behind Basko, he whistled slightly at the cavern that had been dug out. "Not bad. You guys have been busy." There was a bonfire in the middle, casting their shadows on the wall, and illuminating everyone's faces. Banzo's eyes seemed to glimmer oddly in the firelight, the normally black pupils seeming to smolder like coals as he sat down.
The prince sat down as well, commenting idly on his father's opinion of the Oozaru form. From the sound of it, his father had been a bit of a prick. Short of the famous Super Saiyan form, something nobody had utilized in living memory, the Oozaru form was the Saiyan's best shot at fighting most enemies stronger than their base powerlevel. "Sorry to hear that, lad. Dunno what happened to my own parents." Reaching into his pocket, Banzo pulled out a cigar, fiddling with it as he listened.
Vocado quickly bounced back from his introspective moment, though. Clapping his hands, he began asking everyone to do something. Normally, Banzo wouldn't have been so quick to follow orders from someone who hadn't proved themselves, but this was pretty polite, all told. He grinned, and stood, nodding at the prince. "Aye, I can certainly ask. Although I dunno how soon that'll be possible, but I'll let them know. Will keep asking around, as well." Giving a salute, he glanced briefly over at Vegia, then frowned.
She seemed to be freezing up at the comments about Oozaru Vocado was making. There was a slight hitch in her voice as she spoke, confidence seeming to pale a bit. Eyebrows furrowing, Banzo grit his teeth slightly. Whatever the situation was, it was clear she was not exactly comfortable with some part of this. So, he decided to do the one thing he could do at the moment.
Be distracting.
"Ah, sorry, before everyone goes walkin' off, I just wanted to ask...." He swept his hand down through the fire, lighting the cigar, and put it into his mouth. The light reflected off the odd lines on his chest, the ones that looked like tattoos. "I know some people are real big on the whole 'Saiyan Pride' thing, especially about being pure Saiyan. Well, I'm half Demon. On my da's side. That's not gonna be a problem for anyone..." He grinned widely, but clearly humorlessly. "Right?"
Regardless of what responses he got, attention would be taken off Vegia for just a moment, hopefully long enough for her nervousness to pass from memory, unthought of. He shot a quick glance at her as he puffed on the cigar. Hrmm. Maybe he'd need to have a talk with the lass. If she had an issue, better that it didn't get known. Any moral issues could be crippling at this stage. Might be time for the ol' Saiyan Therapy.
AKA: Punching each other and yelling until the problem goes away.
