Kayens trip to Arcose had been a reasonably enjoyable one, even if her fight with Aizu and Kraktus had not really amounted to much everything afterward had been interesting enough and gone well enough that she was willing to consider it all a resounding success. Their effort to claim Arcose for the Kingdom had gone uncontested and while the Arcosians weren’t pleased they were at least not yet in open revolt, and that would give Nashua the chance to show them she could be a positive change for Arcose.

Still though it would likely be some time before Kayen had real access to what remained of Arcose’s military. But the long game was a game she was willing to play, Raiti and Vegeta would more than suffice for her needs when it came to further conquests if a more heavy hand was needed in the future. Not every plant would have one of its own try to destroy it and give her a chance to play the part of a great protector.

The thing that had soured her trip however had nothing to do with Arcose itself at all, it was a call she received from Earth, a message sent to her by Nyaku. She had assumed it would just be a simple update on the situation there, some basic information on how Kabe was doing, maybe an amusing story of Uria growing ever frustrated by the boys voracious hunger outmatching his own.

Instead what she got was a VERY disconcerting message about Nyaku and Uria apparently allowing Kabe to wander off with someone they had not even bothered to learn the name of AND it had apparently resulted in injury to him. It had brought a sharp end to her trip to Arcose, she’d become immediately furious with the pair and within the hour the Stormbreaker was back in deep space on a rapid course for Earth, Kayen had physically forced the ship to its max speed by launching a full power attack from the outside of the ship once they had taken off there was no immediate risk of hitting Arcose.

As such the trip had been a short one but nowhere near short enough for Kayen or the rest of the crew who had no idea exactly what had set off their Captain and the fact she remained at her full power slowing pacing the command room was enough to keep even Barb from questioning her, the moment the Stormbreaker entered Earth’s atmosphere Kayen took off through the nearest airlock.

Her scouter easily picked up on Nyaku and Uria’s scouter signals and were she not so furious she would have been pleasantly surprised to see that Kabe’s power signature was both present AND substantially higher, and on a small level she HAD recognized Kabes growth but it only served in the moment to make her MORE angry, a sudden jump like that felt like Zenkai territory and combined with the report she had gotten things did NOT bode well for the pair of pirates. 

The cigarette did not even have time to hit the ground before Kayen was there hair spiked with furious golden power, Kayen floated above the pair for a moment glaring down at them before very suddenly she was no longer in the air, instead she was in front of Nyaku her hand wrapped tightly around his neck as she lifted him off the ground. 

“So. Who wants to start explaining why I should stop breaking bones?” It was an odd question, after all Kayen had not started breaking bones…

And then there would be a sharp pain through Nyaku’s arm as the Queen grabbed his wrist with her free hand and squeezed.

“OH, you remember I’m the boss? Because based off of your message I was starting to have my DOUBTS” Kayen growled as she released the now broken wrist and every so slightly tightened her grip on Nyaku’s throat as her eyes narrowed on him. A million ways to proceed ran through her mind and exactly zero of them ended in anything resembling pleasant for Nyaku and Uria, none however ended in death, something some might think implied a strong attachment to the pair, but that was not the case, instead it suggested the fullness of Kayens fury. Death was EASY, she could kill the two in a moment, before anyone could even THINK to stop her and in a million ways.

Death would be too fast for her rage to accept.

But that rage was ever so briefly halted as a familiar voice questioned her actions, Kayens grip loosened just a bit and her expression softened as she turned to look at Kabe “It’s complicated kid. I’m not sure you’ll quite understand, you know how I had these two watching over you while I went to Arcose? Just in case something went wrong while me and Nashua took it over? I told you Nyaku and Uria would keep you safe while I was away. But I got a message that said you weren't as safe as you should have been.” Kayen turned back to Nyaku and the calm ebbed away to be once more replaced with rage.

“Instead you were allowed to be taken away from them, and harmed and THIS idiot decided he should tell ME to ‘keep an ear to the ground’” the Queen snarled the words back at Nyaku “I put TRUST into these two Kabe, trust that you would be cared for, trust that any harm that might come to you would only be after they did everything they could to keep you safe. Just as I have done for them” her crew certainly received their share of bruises and injuries but they were adults and there were many of them, but Kayen did everything she could to guarantee the survival of those loyal to her.

Kayen tossed Nyaku at Uria, were it not for Kabe’s presence she likely would have done something equally painful to the green pirate by now but she was past the inflicting physical harm phase for the moment. Now she wanted ANSWERS.

Kayen’s glared never faltered as Nyaku ‘explained’ himself to her showing that his frantic babbling was having no effect on her mood, truth be told the more he spoke the worse he was making things, Nyaku’s own message had made it clear that he HAD left the boy with a stranger, hell his own COMMENT made that clear just leaving Kabe with someone who CLAIMED to be a Kingdom Soldier? At least he had definitely bought himself enough survival to live long enough to expound in excruciating detail who this mystery soldier was.

While Nyaku only served to make things worse Kabe managed to once again draw the Queens attention away from the pair of idiots, her expression once more softening first to a blank almost emotionless state but slowly the hints of a frown tugged at the Queen’s lips as Kabe tried desperately to protect Nyaku.

She remained quiet for a long few moments studying Kabe as he spoke, it seemed that while Nyaku and Uria had been complete and utter screw ups and HAD betrayed her trust, that they had done something well enough to earn the childlike loyalty of Kabe, and if the entire reason for her fury was that harm had been brought to Kabe then she was doing him no favors by doing this. The pair would be punished but in less overt fashion.

“Cmere Kabe” Kayen said taking a knee to bring herself a bit closer to the young Saiyans level, as the young Saiyan appraoched Kayen would sigh and let the golden power flow away returning herself to her normal state with even the ruby returning to dormancy “It's tough to explain Kabe, But they were supposed to watch over you, and they didn’t do it right. I know they didn’t. All I’ve had to think about on my trip back here was thinking about you being hurt, not sure HOW hurt. It helped me understand some things a bit better”

“I’m your momma now right? It’s my job to make sure you’re taken care of, there are people who don’t like me, people who would hurt you to hurt me” assuming they found out about the connection between them, something Kabe was not exactly great at keeping a secret “So I’ve gotta take it serious when things go bad. But you seem set on me not bashing them around anymore. So I’ll handle this a different way”

Kayen was not entirely certain how much Kabe would actually understand of what she said, she was hardly used to explaining herself to a child as young as Kabe, the only time she had really experienced much interaction with children was when she was herself a child, the only vaguely close point of comparison was Tarch and he was old enough and had a general mental maturity beyond Kabe.

But it was clear that he WAS understanding her to some extent as he grew sad, his eyes welling up with tears, and Kayen found herself feeling completely unsure of herself, she had certainly not intended to bring Kabe to tears with her explanation, and she was even less certain of if she had just been a bit too direct in her explanation?

Kayen was drawn out of her self doubt as Kabe moved forward and grabbed a hold of her, it took a moment for her to realize it was not a tackle or any sort of childish attack like usual but instead a hug, at other times she had warded off attempts from the boy to attach himself to her, primarily because at first she had not really intended ‘keeping’ Kabe and wanted to avoid the boy becoming accidentally attached to her.

But it seemed they were both FAR part that point and so with a brief sigh the Queen wrapped an arm around Kabe “You’ve got nothing to be sorry about Kabe, I’m alright, and we’re going to make sure the both of us stay alright. Maybe you should start training with me, I won’t have to worry much about you getting hurt if you can protect yourself.” They would ALSO have to go over the concept of not wandering off with strangers, but that was something to handle a bit later.

Kayen found herself smiling, not her usual cocky grin, or a smug grin, but a proper genuine smile as she hugged Kabe, pleasant enough to let her forget her prior anger and concern if only for the time being, and instead to let her focus on the future, Kabe seemed distinctly interested in training now and while before she had some concerns about trying him due to his technically ‘low’ power he had certainly come a LONG way from that, enough that perhaps she COULD teach the kid a bit.

Perhaps even teach him how to wield a sword, the idea of a sword wielding Kabe was perhaps a bit horrifying but it was really only a concern if he somehow ALWAYS had a sword on hand at least until he had a bit more time to mature and become a bit less likely to use it on a whim without realizing the possible danger such a weapon could present.

“Good, now let’s get out of here, are you hungry?” Kayen asked though she was fairly certain she knew the answer already considering Kabe was essentially ALWAYS hungry, while awaiting his answer Kayen would stand still keeping a hold on Kabe as she did so, she would briefly turn her attention from the young Saiyan and back onto Uria and Nyaku, she gave them a very brief but still very intense glare before making a motion with her head for them to follow, the pair would NOT be getting a chance to simply take off, no they WOULD have to face consequences, just perhaps less strictly violent ones than the Queen had originally intended.
