"oh neat i'm a blue puff of spirit now”
Nashi looked down and saw that he was a spirit, one among multitudes across this great bridge. Nashi had been here before, it wasn’t all that shocking. The Nimbus-like clouds that seemed to stretch on for eternity, nor the large, misspelt ‘WELL COME’ surprised him. His attention was mostly on himself when he found that, when he focused on his self, his body, his ki, he looked like he had his old body back. Not quite so bloodied or armless this time, however. He was bloodied and armless, right? And there was some sort of boom?
”Move it!”
”Woops, sorry!” It was a line, of course it was a line, and that meant Nashi had to keep moving. I died? It was a question he wasn’t as concerned with as you might have expected. How’d that happen? Nashi continued taking a step or so forwards as the line demanded as he tried to remember what happened and search for clues. He looked to the sheath— good, it was there! Much like last time Nashi died, the Power Pole must have followed Nashi through some spiritual connection between them! He looked through his sash to find… the Dragon Radar? Why was this here? Was it just because it was on him when he died? And… hey, what’s this? Nashi felt something in his sash and pulled on it, revealing a small senzu bean. Oh, hey! I must have— wait, is that—? Nashi pulled a bit more, revealing the senzu bean was attached to a stick. He pulled a bit more and more of more of it was revealed, until… ”The Senzu Bonsai!” That’s right. Somehow, the entirely of the Senzu Bonsai, pot included, fit in his sash.
”I said, move it!”
”Ah! Sorry!”
It took five to seven business minutes, but eventually Nashi made it to the big oriental castle sorta thing-place. He was holding his senzu bonsai (which was on the larger end of bonsai-ness) in one hand, accidentally partially covering his face (and sometimes getting bits of leaf in his face, to his great annoyance) as he was called forth to testify before King Yemma. Again.
”Hello King Yemma! Again! It’s Nashi, if you forgot. So, er, I’m assuming you remember all the good things from before the last time I died. Since then, I defended the Lookout a few times, that was neat. Oh, and I prevented the Moon from being blown up, and saved a friend from an evil force!” Though, Abraxas returned and soon after she and Myu weren’t seen from again. ”And, and…” There was something else, it was on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn’t quite remember what happened. ”Something really cool a the very end!” He was pretty sure there were a few other things, too, but he was having a hard time remembering precisely what.
Hopefully having cheated death by means of the Dragon Balls wasn't going to send him straight to HFIL. Heaven, despite the repetitiveness of it, was quite cool!

Chime's PL: 112,000
Chime was flying his way home when it happened. A huge flash, brilliant crimson and gold from the top of the Senbyo tower. A dramatic spike in energy accompanied it and it sent a pang of fear through him. Something was wrong. Something was very, very wrong. Chime sped up as the light of the explosion faded away into the sky.
When he arrived at the tower, it was eerily empty. He couldn't sense a soul up here, not even the one who was supposed to live here. The initial pang became an all-consuming dread. Where was Nashi? There was some evidence of a scuffle, the telltale scorch marks of ki-blasts stained parts of the floor and ceiling, but it was nothing too dramatic yet. Still, that dread remained as he went upstairs into Nashi's room, the 'abode' as he liked to call it. The scene was as bad as he'd feared. Worse, even. There was blood everywhere, still wet and fresh, like something out of a horror story. Chime's heart began to pound out of his chest as dread became panic. Where was Nashi?
But he had to think logically. If Nashi wasn't here, and there was no body (he felt briefly ill at the thought), that meant he had to be somewhere. People don't just vanish. And as long as someone was somewhere, Chime could find them. He just had to focus. So he went back downstairs to the main floor, leaned against the railing, shut his eyes, and did just that.
Nashi...come on Nashi, where'd you go...
Chime felt a lurch in his gut, like the feeling when an elevator drops a floor, and when he opened his eyes...it was to an impossibly long line of people. They were queued up single file, waiting to be attended by the massive ogre at his desk. King Yemma. At the front of the line was Nashi. Blue puff of spirit or no, the ears were unmistakable. Chime ran forward, earning a shout from a disgruntled ogre that he didn't listen to, all the way to his friend. He tackled Nashi in a hug from behind and held onto whatever he could of that spirit form. His voice was shaky as he spoke.
"NASHI! Nashi, what happened to you?! Y-you're not supposed to be here, not again. I only left for the day, it shouldn't--"
He cut himself off abruptly when where they were fully hit him. This was the court of the King of the Dead. His blubbering wouldn't do any good here. So he stepped away from the blue form of Nashi, wipes his eyes with his forearm, and bowed deeply.
"Y-your majesty, sir. Er. I'm sorry about barging in like this. Again. ...I know this is the second time you've met my friend, too," He looked at Nashi out of the corner of his eye, "...I'm not sure if you consider that a sin, coming back to life as he did. But if you do, please don't count it as his. If the blame has to be someone's, let it be mine, whenever I'm going to be here for real not...whatever this is."
He bowed his head again, waiting for Yemma's verdict. Nevermind the fact that it hadn't even been Earth's set of Dragon Balls to revive Nashi. Chime had fully intended to wish for that, just as he fully intended to wish for it now. But Yemma didn't need to know that part.

Business as usual had been pretty slow for the past while - although Yemma was feeling it in his toes that there was about to be some more traffic coming up, if the patterns of the mortal realm were anything to be going by. He'd just sent another hooligan off to Hell when the next person stood up, this one an Earthling of considerable power who looked vaguely familiar...
"Didn't I send you off before already?" he had to ask, and sure enough, the Earthling's file stated just as much when he browsed through it. He listened to the blue cat recount his deeds, and furrowed his eyebrows when he'd finished. "Good and bad deeds, if you will," his voice firmly boomed throughout the hall. He hated it when they tried to sugarcoat themselves. Still, the cat's file looked quite impressive enough as he flipped through it. And it seemed he was a guest of honor, as well, if the little Namekian Guardian of Earth appearing was any indication.
Yemma shrugged as Chime pleaded for him to not count the cat's (failed) second chance at life as a misdeed. "The Dragon Balls are a power beyond mine, and as long as their usage is unimpeded by the Kais above, then I see no reason to deem them unlawful." If they were really bad, one of the big bosses upstairs would just have to swoop in and deal with them. "Needless to say, I think your record and your Guardian friend here coming in to vouch for you speaks for itself." Yemma roughly slammed his gavel against the desk before him, his firm voice bellowing throughout.
"HEAVEN!"

"Whoopsie-doo, give me a second here, Yemma," a somewhat gargley sounding voice called out from down the hall as a short and stout man appeared, whiskers on his face not too dissimilar to Nashi's. His skin was a pale blue that quite closely resembled the boy's fur color, as well. "I didn't think I'd be taking on a second student so soon after the last one," he added as he walked forwards and looked the Earthling up and down, "But I gotta tell you, the heroes of this generation are really something! Been about two hundred years since we last had activity like this."
After he'd thoroughly examined Nashi, he cleared his throat, and folded his hands behind his back. "Oh, don't look so blue about dying," he teased, "It's not all bad. In fact, why don't you make your way across the Snake Way over there and come meet me on my planet? I like to offer special training to particularly noteworthy fallen heroes, and I'd say you fit the bill quite nicely!" King Kai glanced over at the Namekian child, and tapped his chin as he looked him up and down. "Hmm... Sorry, but I think I'll only be taking your friend here, for now. But you keep trying down there!"
The blue deity then turned around and flashed Nashi an "ok" gesture with his hand. "Meet you over there ASAP! And save all your questions for when you arrive!" He then disappeared in a flash - just like magic.

Nashi really needed to learn how to sense energy one of these days. Not only might it have been useful in being better able to pick fights, it also would prevent such dastardly sneak attacks! Nashi stumbled a bit at the sudden force behind him and, when he heard who it was, grew a smile that could almost stretch from ear to ear. ”Chime!” By all rights, that hug should have been more like a tackle, but there was some sort of limiter, as if Chime wasn’t really there. Nashi recognised this immediately, and trust me when I say Nashi wouldn’t be smiling at all if he thought Chime had died. ”I’m all right. I’ve been here before, it’s not all so bad.” Though, what did happen to him? ”I wouldn’t stress it. The ‘immortal’ in ‘Immortal Cat’ may not mean ‘incapable of death’ so much as ‘incapable of not coming back for more’.” Or perhaps that ‘nine lives’ adage was true. He hoped not— he was two lives down and only three years old. ”Heh.”
Nashi let Chime be enveloped in the sublime— the Romantic idea of the sublime, but the chemical or psychoanalytical ones, those are weird. He smiled at the slight sense of wonder on the kami’s face.
Oh, right. Bad deeds. For the slightest of moments there, Nashi had entirely forgotten bad deeds were things people could do. Perhaps it was because he was dead, perhaps it was because he was as good as good could get or because he was simply naive, but Nashi just didn’t get why people did bad things. ”Oh, right! A few minutes ago I held up the line for two, maybe three seconds.” He felt pretty bad about that, but he did have a small tree stuck in his clothes, so, ya know, hopefully Yemma understood. Other than that, Nashi couldn’t think of any misdeeds.
Heaven. Aw yiss!
But that wasn’t all. Before Nashi could catch his flight or be teleported up to Heaven or whomst’ve-ever, some dude appeared out of nowhere. He was short— shorter than Chime, who was short himself— but, more importantly, blue. Kinda voluminous, too, but who’s counting? This guy, as far as Nashi could tell, took in students sometimes? And, if Nashi was following this right, he wanted Nashi?
The Sensei was to become the Student, then!
”I accept!”
And he was a joker, too. Truly, were there any downsides to death if it meant meeting characters such as this?
”hek yiss”
Nashi was about to race off immediately down Snake Way, his smile trying to extend beyond the width of his face, but stopped himself with a sudden realisation. ”Chime!” Nashi moved over to Chime. He’d try to hand Chime his Dragon Radar, but it would go through Chime’s body as if he weren’t really there. ”Oh, dang. Well, whatever. I’ll see you before you know it!” Nashi looked to King Yemma. ”Sorry for the bother, Yemma! I’ll be out of your hair now!”
And, just like that, Nashi was flying across Snake Way so quickly he couldn’t be seen as anything beyond a barely-present blue blur.

King Yemma didn't seem upset with either him or Nashi. It felt like a weight was lifted from his shoulders when he heard the Dragon Balls weren't breaking some cosmic law. That was one less thing for him to worry about on his long list. The weight settled back around his shoulders as soon as he stood up from his bow and looked back at his friend, though. Nashi was still dead, after all. Chime sighed. He'd have to deal with that when he was back home, in the land of the living.
For now, he turned back to Yemma and nodded, "Thank you, your majesty! I'm sorry for popping in like this, again. Next time-- if there's a next time, I really hope not, but next time I'll try to warn you."
He turned back to Nashi to give the Senbyo some last words before he was whisked away to Heaven, but as he opened his mouth to speak, another figure appeared. Short, round and blue, with little round glasses. Chime looked at the new arrival curiously. Was he a shinjin? He must have been, he didn't look like any of the ogres standing around, but he didn't look like any shinjin Chime had ever met, either. Apparently he trained heroes who died? And...he made puns. Chime couldn't help but laugh, despite everything. He'd rather Nashi still be alive, of course, but at least his friend seemed like he'd be in good company up here. Then the mysterious tutor's gaze fell on Chime, and he froze. He had the distinct feeling he was being sized up for something, and he instantly felt self conscious. Before he could give any reply, in defense or otherwise, the strange shinjin vanished, and Chime was left blinking at the space he left behind.
With that strangeness over, Chime looked to Nashi, who was trying to give him his Dragon Radar back, obviously without success. The Kami held his hands up, "It's okay! I'll find a new one! And I'll get you back again! Don't give that guy too much trouble, alright? I'll try to keep in touch." As he watched Nashi run off through the hall and towards that long, winding pathway through the clouds, he felt strange. Nashi seemed happy, excited even. Death didn't seem to have bothered him in the slightest, but he also didn't seem fully aware of what had happened to him. Chime wasn't about to burst his bubble, there was no need for it.
As Nashi stepped over the threshold and out the door, Chime blinked and felt that elevator-drop lurch again. When he opened his eyes, he was laying on his back, looking at the ceiling of the Senbyo tower.
