Kuma didn’t seem to be one for talking much while sparring, which Okra was fine with. The saiyan woman easily kept up with his blows, parrying and dodging every blow. Back when Okra sparred and trained with his fellow guards at the penal colony, he’d have to take it easy due to the gulf in power he held over the average guard. So, being able to fight with someone on his level was refreshing. His spar with Oryian had been fun too, but he was just a kid, not an experienced fighter like Kuma.
As another one of his strikes was deflected, Kuma moved back and telegraphed the same uppercut from earlier. Okra was somewhat confused. She had to know he’d see right through that, right? He nimbly moved out of the way of the strike, noting that it seemed rather sluggish compared to earlier. She wasn’t tried already was s- His eyes widened as he realized the feint. As Kuma brought her knee forward, the saiyan planted a foot into the ground and pivoted away. He was a bit too slow, however; as the knee still managed to clip his chin. The blow stung, but other than a slight bruise, it wouldn’t leave any lasting damage.
Without waiting for a moment, the saiyan finished pivoting around Kuma, throwing an elbow towards her chin as he did so. Now to her left, the saiyan went back on the offensive, however; he decided to attack a bit differently. He focused on using his legs to strike, using his hands to deflect and block incoming blows. He sent a quick kick at Kuma’s gut, following with another blow towards her legs. He pressed his offensive with a high strong kick at her jaw. He tried to keep her at a distance, close enough for his legs to strike, but far enough away that attacking with fists would be difficult.
He was curious how Kuma would deal with the switch up. While he never specialized in fight with his legs, that didn’t mean he was a complete novice at it. He was a saiyan elite after all. Fighting and sparring was how he spent his free time as a child, teen, and even as a guard. It was his way of life, so of course he was skilled in various forms of combat.

Usually one for talking someone's ear off, her mentality switched heavily during fights, even if it was simply a spar. She clearly didn't want to hurt Okra, but she wanted to learn, which mean her focus being split as little as possible. It also allowed for her to notice smaller details when not multitasking, such as how someone would dodge, attack, or their level of aggression and output of stamina. This was where she felt the most alive and where she excelled compared to her other skills and knowledge. Thankfully Okra hadn't quite figured her out in this early portion of the fight, allowing her to step in and take the strike, but he was just fast enough and skilled enough not to let himself be caught off guard and freeze. His reaction spread a grin across her face, but she wasn't simply going to take a strike to the face if she could help it, and he wasn't so fast and she wasn't in such a position not to be able to do anything about it. A simple elbow of her own was thrown, which in colliding would at most hurt for the moment of impact arm into arm, but it was better than elbow to face.
His attacks were smart, and for a moment she was impressed with his strategy, even feeling silly for the moment of underestimating him even the slightest. The kicks weren't connecting solidly enough at her to cause any damage, but they were keeping her back, making it hard for her to move in and land any punches at the distance his kicks were pushing her away just a bit each time. She wasn't much of a kicker and Okra seemed a bit more varied in his strikes, but the best thing she couldn't she was to keep letting him push his pace, trying to get in punches that weren't landing and push away the kicks and dodge what she couldn't parry. Stepping up on her toes and bouncing, she started to dodge a bit quicker to the side over moving back and away, trying to move around him to dodge each kick, and when his hard kick came up high enough to aim for her jaw, she jumped again and spread her stance from a closed boxing style, opening her palms. The moment she jumped to her left, Okra's right side, her palms both came down aiming not for Okra's body, but going for his extended leg instead with both open palms striking below his knee.

Okra grimaced from the dull ache he felt in his elbow. Elbows smashing into each other hurt. It wasn’t a debilitating injury or pain, but it was enough to be a minor annoyance. None of his leg strikes had landed properly either. They were either deflected or blocked in a manner where they didn’t connect solidly. Kuma was a good defender, that was certain. Quick too. He thought mixing his style might throw her off a bit, but she was obviously experienced and a quick thinker when it came to fighting. He figured protecting the homeworld during the invasion would help with that.
His high kick to the jaw swun wide as Kuma dodged to his right. The saiyan grimaced as he realized he was wide open. Quickly thinking on his feet, the saiyan jumped off his left foot, using ki to help spin himself horizontally over Kuma. Her two palm attacks missed his leg as he dodged the attack. He used the momentum while still in the air to swing his leg around at the back of Kuma’s head. After attempting the strike, he landed on his feet right behind the saiyan. He followed with two quick knee attacks toward the back, or front if she had turned around by now.
Going for the legs was smart from Kuma. It had the potential to hinder his mobility, which would make dodging more difficult. That was one of the risks with using your legs to attack. It often left you open and made it easy for someone to strike the leg. If someone countered you while you were in mid strike, it would be difficult to dodge.
While the fight hadn’t gone on very long yet, Okra judged that he and Kuma were close in terms of power level. He didn’t have a scouter so he didn’t know the exact number, nor could he sense ki, but just basing it off the fight alone, they seemed close. Unless Kuma was holding back, in which case he’d be severely disappointed.

There might have been a small gap in there power levels, but Kuma wasn't aware of it and Okra didn't fight like it, so as far as Kuma was concerned they were fighting on equal footing, which made the spar that much more interesting. It was fun to learn from someone stronger but it sucked dealing with someone not strong enough to fight back, and when she had first met Okra her had that sense about him for a brief moment that she was glad to be wrong about. His fighting prowess was also different enough for her own that it made it difficult to simply beat through power or even skill, having to use her brain over muscle memory much more. Okra however was showing his own skill and high use of his brain meats with not only his attacks but his dodging and use of ki energy to do so.
The way he dodged caught her off guard more than the dodging itself as she thought him enough off balance to take advantage of, but he was quick to prove her wrong, nearly taking off her head with spinning kick she lowered under. Things were starting to pick up and the fight was really getting fun now. She only managed to turn just barely as she turned to counter Okra as she landed behind her, finding him back on the offense immediately however and throwing knees right into her face. She managed to bring her arms back up in her boxer stance, but brought them closer together with her fists and arms touching, taking the brunt of the attack to cover her face and drive her back. He was pressing the attack every time she tried to counter and she had to rethink her strategy and move away from simply trying to counter or she would eventually lose a war of attrition from all the bruises from blocks.
"Good", was all she said with a grin as she began to bounce on her toes again, opening her palms into of closed fists as she slid into her full boxing stance. If she was going to land a hit it couldn't be a frontal attack without a lot more speed, so it was time for her to see just how fast Okra was along with how smart he was showing himself to be. Moving back with a quick jump to launched forward and gave a single punch towards Okra's chest she assumed would be easy to block, but pulled back and jumped again, then run around to his left side and started to throw smaller but quicker punches slowly moving around until she was attempting to run all the way around him throwing jab after jab trying to force him to slip up trying to move around to not get hit from behind or take a punch to the back.

Okra’s leg swiped above Kuma as the nimble woman ducked down to dodge the attack. She turned in the nick of time to block his knee attacks with raised arms. She was driven back, but otherwise seemed no worse for wear. Neither had yet to gain the upper hand nor had either even landed a major blow yet. It was a close battle.
He felt as if he were doing an excellent job at keeping Kuma on her toes. If he kept switching up how he fought, and continued to be aggressive, he might just be able to win. Still, the soldier had to be wary of Kuma’s speed. She had displayed some amazing speed so far. Her ability to turn around in time to block the last two blows honestly surprised him. Her boxing style was interesting too. Okra wasn’t used to someone who fought in the stance. He was more acquainted with traditional martial arts.
Kuma launched herself forward, and Okra raised his arms to block the simple the punch. He frowned when she repeated the maneuver, which he again easily blocked by raising his arms. What was she trying to do here? Confuse him? Because if so, it was kinda of working. Was she finally gonna go on the offensive?
His opponent dashed to his left, Okra tracked her, keeping Kuma centered to his own body of mass. She threw a few simple jabs which he either dodged or deflected. However, to his surprise, she started to move around, fast. She was basically circling him, throwing small, quick jabs at him. The warrior tried to keep up, and he did for the most part, but Kuma was fast. Inevitably, a few strikes slipped through his defenses. One caught him on the right cheek which stunned him long enough for her to land a blow on his chest chest. The saiyan grimaced from the ache that started to throb from his cheek.
An idea popped into his head when he sidestepped another jab. The saiyan ducked under a strike, ball of ki blazing in hand. He shot the ball into the ground, right their feet. The blast kicked up a load of sand and smoke, covering the two. Okra would gamble on Kuma’s hopefully being surprised and unable to sense.
He dashed around in the smoke, sending a blow at Kuma before changing positions and striking again. He tried to be hyper aggressive, not giving her space to move. He continued to throw strike after strike at her general location, doing his best not to confuse himself as he moved around. After all, he couldn’t sense ki either. He just had to hope he was being aggressive enough to not give Kuma space to breathe.

Kuma never felt herself a strong fight but she was definitely an agile one and that much she knew. So many other Saiyans used bulking techniques to increase muscle mass and strength training to increase power, but she learned early on in life if someone couldn't hit her then all the strength in the world wouldn't decide the fight. She had gained power naturally through training, but she always trained with speed in mind and the agility to use it properly. Her boxing style had evolved from that idea of always moving, staying on her toes and keeping her feet in motion so she could dodge easier.
To Okra's credit he was keeping up, and while he was a bit slower it wasn't something she could take advantage of easily without putting more thought into it and her attacks. Each time she would throw an attack as she circled him she was already moving and throwing another, none with much power given she didn't stop for long enough to plant fully and strike, but she was trying to overwhelm and confuse him to see if she could find a better opening. Her lack of energy sense kept her from noticing the energy Okra was creating, but her sense of sight gave her a hint of something coming she wasn't liable to like, but she didn't stop running, intent on picking up speed the more she circles him. Her first thought when the ball hit the ground was it was some sort of attempt to blast at her feet and missed, but the dust flying up caused an instant problem, and again her lack of energy sensing only increased the issue.
Unfortunately for her she couldn't simply keep blindly running around in the smoke, and the few punches she took to the body were enough to know she couldn't stand in it and wait to taking another punch hoping the smoke would clear. She couldn't see to tell which direction to run out, she couldn't stand useless in place, so the best thing she could think of was going straight up. Planting her feet she grunted and shot directly into the sky until she was far clear of the cloud and now hovering up above it dusting her clothes off, watching quietly trying to get a glimpse of Okra through it.

In the midst of the dust, the warrior managed to land a few solid strikes on Kuma. He grinned in satisfaction. Finally, he had managed to land a solid hit. However, Kuma didn’t stay in the plume of dust for long. She ascended to the skies, and it took Okra a moment to realize where she had gone. His fists swung through empty air a few times before it hit him that she wasn’t here.
The saiyan took to the skies, looking around for the saiyan woman. It only took him a moment to find her. His blue aura flared to life around like a flame as he rocketed towards her. He reeled a fist back, sending it hurtling for Kuma’s gut when he came into range. Only, he purposely stopped the strike, and quickly struck out with his other fist, aiming for the jaw. He followed the feint with a powerful strike aimed for the gut. Hoping the girl would double over, he would clasp his hands together and slam them into her skull with enough force to send her rocketing toward the ground. If she was sent flying, he’d send a few ki blasts chasing after her.
He felt being hyper-aggressive earlier had been most effective against Kuma so far. If he could keep pressing the assault and not give her space to counter, he might just be able to be the 'winner' of the spar. Not that spars really should have winners, but, Okra was a saiyan and an ultra competitive one at that. Whenever he fought his utmost desire was to win, and sometimes he would tunnel vision in on that. It had ended... poorly for some of his weaker sparring partners back at the penal colony. He had accidentally seriously injured his training partners before.

The moment in the sky alone gave her a chance to look around the area a bit more than she had previously, but it wasn't long before she was found. She wasn't sure what Okra had been doing in the dust cloud alone but she gave a slight laugh to herself imagining him still fighting and looking for her before realizing he was alone. Aggression seemed to be Okra's game plan now, rushing directly towards her, and she wasn't keen on staying in the sky fighting like this for any longer than she had to. This wasn't the place to use her speed and her fighting style was all but useless up here, and any forms of brute strength would have excelled greatly which was the exact opposite of her approach to a fight.
She was still able to move fairly fast up here, but she decided not to run right away and take the attack head on in a manner of speaking, pulling her knees up in anticipation to take the attack to her leg rather than her stomach. Unfortunately the strike never came, but a second was coming towards her from the other side and her only recourse was to bring up her arms and nearly curl up into a ball mid air with her knees still tucked and her head hiding behind her arms. The strike still hurt but she had avoided a more serious blow, but it seemed another strike was coming at her mid-section, though she was already curled up and ready for it, but again it seemed to be meant as a distraction.
Her left hand went numb as two fists impacted down on her upper arm as she cradled her head and fully curled up in a ball as much as she was psychically capable, propelled now out of the sky. Half way to the ground she could feel her fingers again and by now she was right wear she wanted to be, or so she thought, starting to spin out of the free fall to land on the ground, seeing the blasts coming down on her before she had a chance to land. In the heat of the moment she turned and flattened herself out, blasting back towards them, but given the position she was in she wasn't landing on her feet and ended up coming to a stop back first, continuing her return fire until she could get back to her feet. It seemed Okra was playing serious now, so it was her turn to stop holding back and go all out for a while. Looking around quickly she kicked at the ground a bit kicking up dust as she remembered Okra's dust move from earlier and decided it was her turn to make her own variation of it. Taking off running to her left she began to run in a wide circle, blasting at Okra in the sky with one arm and the other pelting the ground to kick up dirt and dust behind her. The faster she ran the more she kicked up dirt and dust until her speed was picking it up around her and spreading it across the area until she stopped blasting the sky or the ground and kept running to kick up the dust ever more as she went. After a short time there was a massive dust cloud formed on the ground and the vortex Kuma had created from running had naturally stopped, leaving a cloud of dust and dirt hanging thick in the air below Okra.

Okra smiled in delight when Kuma was sent hurtling toward the ground. She had exactly taken the full brunt from the strike, but it was still enough to do at least a bit of damage. He felt like he was starting to get the upper hand in the spar. Whether that would remain to be true was yet to be seen.
Kuma struck the ground back first and began to fire back ki blasts. The small orbs of energy smashed into his own, causing them to explode mid air. She continued to fire ki blasts up at him, stopping him from pressing the attack. He raised an arm and deflected the orbs of ki, sending them flying every which way.
To his surprise, Kuma got up and started zipping around in a circle while on the ground. She fired more blasts at him but also, she shot orbs down at the ground behind her. Okra was confused at first, put as the torrent of dust and dirt picked up into the air and formed a cloud, he realized what she was up to. She was pulling the same move he had!
The cloud covered the area and Okra couldn’t spot Kuma anywhere. She was hidden from view, and with no ability to sense ki, it would be difficult to spot her in the cloud. It was like a smokescreen. It’d give her time to think and strategize.
Okra knew going into the cloud would be a bad idea. While Kuma would probably have just as hard a time spotting him as he would her, he figured it’d be best to wait her out. Still he called out to her, “Hiding in the cloud now? Come on Kuma, come and fight me. That dust cloud will only be there for so long. I’ll just wait till it clears up,” he finished with a shrug.
