Fortunately, both Babyl and Kaal were faster than her pleas. They leapt in the way of Boft’s - she thought she heard that was his name - attacks, preventing him from harming their Arcosian guest. Ikra certainly didn’t wish to attract the ire of the Saiyan Kingdom through a perceived slight, regardless of his ability to weather the assault. She just couldn’t allow it. Still, seeing Kaal get hurt upset her a bit. At least her brother, Babyl, had the good sense to put up some kind of barrier. She sighed softly, refraining from rubbing her temples when he offered the strange alien Boft some more tea. Always with the tea.
Ikra glanced toward Riis as he so kindly offered everyone a chance to bear witness to his coronation. Of course, she would attend, but she wasn’t quite so sure that she even wanted someone like, say, Leech to attend. Or this Boft fellow, given by how he had conducted himself thus far. She wanted to argue with Riis, telling him not to allow their disrespect, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. He was right, in the end.
Flip Fortuna responded amicably to her darling Riis’s welcome, though she thought again that dear Riis was selling himself short. She did perk up at the mention of moth people approaching the palace. Golgari? She looked at him, more concerned than anything else. Why was the whole swarm of them coming? Oh, she hoped that he wouldn’t do anything too rash. And, the more Leech spoke, the more Ikra wanted to chuck him out of a window in frustration. Why couldn’t he have sense like dear Anny? When they both suggested an elaborate, grand ceremony, part of Ikra agreed, but part of her was impatient. She turned to the table and then looked to Riis on his throne.
“No, I disagree! Now, more than ever, the Konatsian people need a leader. It may not be as grand as is traditional, but tradition and all the elaborate theatrics be damned! They need you, my lord.”
It was only when she felt Golgari tugging away from her that she turned back to the moth boy who amounted to a son to her. She let go easily, her face going from concern to surprise when he said that he didn’t like Riis. Somehow, that just didn’t make sense in her mind. He didn’t like Riis? Why? She didn’t understand. He stepped out into the room, tilting her head as he made the claim that her condition had been Riis’s fault. It wasn’t his fault at all! She had pushed herself.
He walked away toward his bike, picking it up and starting it up again. His next words shattered her heart. Her ears drooped, and she felt moisture starting to accumulate in her eyes. She tried to find some words, some way to convince him that it was really all her fault that she had gotten that way. As he leaned over his bike, ready to leave her, Ikra stepped forward and paused again as he turned back one last time. He was leaving. Ikra reached out with a hand, but it was too late to stop him. He was already gone past the open doors.
Something in her chest twisted up at the sight of his retreating back. And, perhaps it was too late and maybe he wouldn’t hear her, but she managed to at least send him a silent thought, barring the whirl of confusing and painful emotion from tainting her message. She only wanted one feeling to go through to him.
“Golgari… I love you too, sweetie.”
As she thought it, the form that she’d just barely been holding together tattered away entirely, leaving just a black shadowy form with two white eyes peering out from the darkness. Ikra still had the general shape of her humanoid form, but her expression was impossible to decipher like this. She didn’t want dear Riis to see her as broken as she felt inside. She turned back to Lord Riis on the throne, said again, her voice having dual tones now.
“They need you more than ever, Lord Riis.”

A slight smile appeared on the makeshift defenders face as he stared at Babyls offering of tea first- choosing to focus on the one action that had recently occurred that didn't annoy him to no end. Even without his magical influence as mentioned before, Ikras brother did seem to be that of an upstanding gentleman, someone of whom he would not mind at all getting to know better in the future. Perhaps when all this royal ridiculousness is over and done with, he, himself, and Boft would sit down somewhere for a nice drink- though, then again, Babyl and Boft seem to be more of a tea and crumpet sort of crowd, and so Kaal didn't necessarily want to break the dynamic with his more, beer-loving, side. But still, plans to reconvene and get to know each-other better was definitely something on his long to-do list. Seeing that his egg-headed friend was now seemingly more calmed down, it was probably the tea that did it, honestly, he was a real sucker for it, Kaal took the time to reset his bearings and managed to regain a composure of controlled authoritative nature, readjusting his armor and dusting off whatever dust was left on him as he focused his next words on the shadow sibling, saying in a grateful tone, "Brilliantly done, Babyl. You are indeed a true gentleman, in more ways than just refreshment. Hopefully, if this whole tirade ends itself peacefully we can perhaps catch up later, getting to know you more is something I think would be quite beneficial for the both of us. And, Boft here as well, especially-" gesturing once more toward his egg-friend. He knew Boft was looking forward to getting to know more people, so, it would be nice of Babyl to accept such an invitation.
The second prince of Konats regained his attention as Flip continued to allure him with his grandiloquent ways of the word, with him now openly rolling his eyes at what he now thought was an inexperienced young royal. He found it disappointing that Riis would allow himself to be entranced by such simple tact, and by flattery of all things. Was he more insecure than he let on? If he was, he let it show through this very interaction. Trusting someone who is just as much of a stranger as the majority of those within the room because he scratched your ego a slight bit? How, immature. If he was insecure about his ability or lack there of to compete with his brother, then instead of having others reassure him, he should instead first prove to himself he has the ability to match whatever he has- or else when he finds himself in a situation in which no one could help him or have chosen to abandon him, he won't have the willpower to continue. This was a dangerous revelation, a potentially fatal weakness that Riis had just now revealed to Kaal- and he was sure he was not the only one taking notes.
Then again, perhaps he was just overthinking it- and he was simply appreciating the fact that him and his brother were finally being treated with the respect they deserved.
He still wasn't so sure.
Riis most definitely did not help his case with the valor-valued Vangardian, and Kaals gaze hardened toward the prince as he apparently began to berate the three (Boft, he, and Babyl) for taking necessary action. Why blame them? It had been Friege whom had instigated such an encounter (albeit ignorantly), yet he seemingly got off with the less of it while himself and his two newfound friends took the brunt of the blame, being threatened with double the consequence if they were to step out of line once more. At least, he assumed it was directed to them and not the Arcosian or the Fortuna Syndicate kingpin. Gripping his fists tightly, and then unwrapping them slowly as a way to exert his frustration, he finally opened his mouth to defend himself, saying in a cold yet still objective tone in order to avoid coming off as insolent, "While I understand your concern, Prince, Riis, I do hope that you do not come down too harshly on any one of us- it was simply a case of miscommunication, and my friend Boft here simply has not had the chance to understand intent behind ones words, and so was unable to comprehend just how to handle such a situation. Both I and Babyl were also only attempting to mediate the situation, so to be doubly punished over the others seems, a tad bit unfair." He spoke the last part of his statement in a bit of a lower, more restrained tone. For sure he would have let loose much more if less was at stake, most likely to highlight the ridiculousness of being doubly punished for an action they tried to prevent. But, not only was Ikra present but several people of which who would find his actions to be a case of insubordination, and he'd rather not incur the wrath of most of those present. Nor would he exactly love the prospect of Flip gaining more verbal leverage against him, as he knew he would be able to twist whatever he'd say into something he could use in a negative light.
Speak of the Devil, the so-proclaimed leader of the Fortuna Conglomerate, or as Golgari would lovingly put it, the Fortuna Syndicate, began to speak again- this time now actively peeving him to a line he did not wish to cross. Now walking forward in a pressuring stride, Kaal stopped until he was just a couple feet in front of Flip, choosing such a distance to avoid having to be too close and possibly igniting another violent interaction. Speaking in a tone one would expect to hear from his younger, more bolder years- his words now came out with a delectably confident voice, Kaal retorting in response to his "concerns" about security, "Fortuna, I am not the commonwealth."
Once the hologram of one of his troops appeared in front of Fortuna, and thus inbetween the two, talking about some sort of swarm heading for the palace, a small grin came upon Kaals face again. It had been quite some time since he and Golgaris family's last meet, and he loved them as much as they did he, so it would be indeed nice to talk with them once more. Though, the mood began to take a downward turn as Golgari began to explain his intent, yet, at the same time, Kaal found himself agreeing with him. Even though he'd never openly admit it, he found Riis' treatment of Ikra quite poor, and along with being easily influenced by Fortuna, his opinion of him began to sour a bit.
Though, he was caught offguard by his decision to leave the planet entirely, and as the winged biker finally spoke for the first time within this entire exchange- Kaals call to halt was drowned out by his hoverbike as he rode off out of the palace, his family following in hot pursuit. Frowning, his irritation now bubbling just below the surface, he turned to face Riis with a sense of finality, beginning to speak directly once more, his posture now resembling that of one who hailed from nobility as well, saying, "While I do wish we had gotten off better first impressions, I must take my leave to go to Golgaris aid. In order to both ensure he doesn't do anything rash. Besides,"
Running a hand through his now slightly messy hair, he continued, saying in an exasperated tone, "I grow tired of this bluster. And the fact that you are so quick to entertain Fortuna's words and have come to ignore your own peoples doubts, the doubts wherein most rulers have come to find their greatest guidance from, is a telling fact. But I do believe you have potential, Prince Riis, and I hope for you all the best."
Turning around with a bit of dramatic flair, his cape flipping around in a climatic manner, Kaal motioned Boft to follow, and then turned his gaze to Babyl for the last time, saying with a warm smile, "While I would also implore of you to join us, then who else would I trust to keep an eye on Ikra? Keep her safe, for the both of us, Babyl. And, Ikra?"
A more comforting smile now took its place, heart-wrenching at the sight of her near tears. He hated to leave her, but he needed to ensure Golgaris and his family's safety.
"It's not your fault, please, stem your tears. I hate it when you cry. Hold steadfast, my Queen."
Kaal slowly returned his gaze to the doors, and began to stride out of the palace, immediately starting off toward the direction of The Swarm- as he could sense the multitude of energy from miles away.
Attempting exit with Golgari.

Babyl's PL: 26,000 52,000
Babyl sighed as the situation came to a calm. Fortunately, it had seemed the pressure in the room had calmed again after Boft's attacks were blocked. The chance was still there, so he wouldn't let his guard or his transformation fall just yet. Walking back to Ikra's side, Babyl turned his head and smiled politely at Kaal, who expressed an interest in getting to know him better. "I would be greatly pleased to accept your offer, sir Kaal, in better times than current. I hope that this whole farce ends quickly so that I can truly enjoy a spot of tea without the pressure of entertaining strangers..." Babyl's eyes glanced to Flip and Freige, the two individuals here who he was concerned about. Flip certainly had a way of stroking Riis' ego, and that made him dangerous. Manipulation is a great skill to have, but a dangerous one in the hands of a potential enemy. "Ikra, dear sister... Please be patient. A coronation isn't something that can simply be done with those present. A king cannot be named simply by exclaiming it in front of strangers protecting their best interests and trying to garner favor if there are not also common people present. A coronation must include the people, else there is little point." Pausing in his explanation, Babyl turned to Riis with a bow. "I feel with time, you could be a fine leader, Prince Riis, but if I may be frank... Actions speak much louder than words. If you wish to go from Prince to King, by all means take those steps, but they must not be rushed. One slip up and every step you've taken so far will be for naught. The people's opinions are flexible, but also quite fragile. You can change it, mold it, even design it to fit your every desire if you wished, but the moment you let them down, all they will see is the negative impact of your actions. They already have little faith in you, yes? So think about their desires and take the necessary actions. I won't pretend to be a leader of any sort, but if there is one thing I have learned in my long life, it is that the people want someone that can protect them. They care not if it is through strength or intelligence. What do a wall, a gun, and a mother all have in common? They protect people."Babyl frowned as Golgari made his exit from the building after a long speech directed at Riis. He never got to have much of a conversation with Golgari, as each time they would meet, something would come up that led him away from Babyl in one way or another. He had come to Ikra's rescue just as quickly if not more so than Babyl had. "Good luck Golgari. Stay safe out there." He knew there was no convincing the moth man to stay, despite the look saddened look on Ikra's face. He knew what she meant to Golgari, so the fact that not even she could stop him meant there was no reason for him to waste his words. "Until we meet again, Kaal. I shall of course protect my dear sister."Babyl turned once more to Flip with a small smirk. "As for you, kingpin or otherwise, mind your lips around either side of the prince. I'd rather his mind not be tainted with the stench of his own rear end. Ego has no place in a palace when people's lives are on the line. You can show your support by being there at his official coronation, once the arrangements have been made." Turning now to Freige, Babyl smiles gleefully, he was certainly happy that another had come to defend his home. "I thank you for your proud protection of this place, you are an honorable man and Konats is lucky to have you."His gaze once again returned to Riis, this time taking to one knee and bowing his head. "After the unfolding of recent events, Prince Riis, it is clear to me that my sister is in need of more guidance when it comes to effectively aiding you in your mission without causing further panic. I offer my own services in this time of need. I have hope that another mind working with you to both protect this land and its people will see you to your goal quicker. It would be an honor to aid the next King of Konats."

And there it was. It always amazed the prince how people could forget that there existed a time beyond this very second while also only thinking of the here and now. Riis rolled his eyes slightly as the obvious points were brought to his attention. Of course, he wasn’t going to hold a coronation right here and now. There were much bigger things to worry about.
“Really now? After an event such as this, you don't think I know to make sure my people are safe first and foremost.”
However, things seemed to take a bit of a turn. As suspected, this Flip person was indeed taking the prince for a ride. Trying to pass himself off as a businessman. Well for all intents and purposes he was. However, the business he was revealed to be a part of was of a shady variety. That was hardly a shock though. A man with such a silver tongue must either be a politician or a criminal. Where did that put Riis?
“So quick to doubt me.” he sighed. “A man who presents himself with such honeyed tones is obviously up to something.” he looked over to Flip, his smile faded into a bored frown. “Believe me I would know.” the noble son couldn’t help but smirk once more though. “I simply admire the confidence and swagger he carries himself with as well. Perhaps we should talk more later though, Mr. Fortuna.”
The biggest issue now seemed to be the horde he could sense heading toward the castle. “Now what?” he groaned. His worries were soon dissipated as Golgari issued his goodbyes. For this Riis remained silent. This was beyond himself. Something he rarely admitted. Perhaps this entire situation was beyond him. He couldn’t listen to the people’s doubts because. There was a single person whose doubt overpowered everyone else in the entire world, perhaps the galaxy.
After his moment of silence, Riis stood from his throne. He gently placed the teacup on the table. Staring off toward the departing swarm of moths he took a moment to take in the rolling dunes of his planet. His world.
“Babyl. I would be honored to have you by my side. But I must clear something. Ikra though rash is my greatest…” Ally? Servant? Companion? “the greatest inspiration I’ve had.” He turned to her, “my dear Ikra. You’ve shown me what I must do. I only regret that it took so many others screaming at me for me to see it. Babyl while I certainly understand why you say I should wait, I think we’ve seen what happens when I wait for too long. My greatest misstep has been doing nothing.”
Finally, it was made clear why he was so slow to ascend. Everyone made it clear. Especially Ikra.
“To hell with it then…” he started at a low murmur. “Wait a moment Kaal.” He was not going to force the man to stay, but he hoped he would at least hear his words. “You say I ignore the doubts of my people. That is not entirely true. There is one person whose doubts scream out and drown out all others. Not yours, not Golgari’s. Not even Ashi’s.”
He turned back toward his throne. “He hides behind flowery words and a stone-cold face. Talking when he should be acting. Afraid that his lack of physical strength would be his demise.” Was his talk with Typha and Aisise just that? Talk? “So to hell with royal traditions and fancy ceremonies.” Riis waved his hand in a swift decisive motion. The torches in the throne room roared to life with roaring flames.
“I’m done talking about it. Konats needs a leader now! I’m done sitting idly by and watching fear and doubt take over my people. It’s time to act! My action is to ascend the throne and protect my people. Mages!” Riis called with an almost monstrous echo to his tone. “Tell the people that their king has come to keep them safe. Let anyone who doubts me now come here and challenge my rule. If that is their action so be it but otherwise I intend to protect them from any further threats.” The soon to be king looked to his guests, his steely eyes narrowed in a determined stare. As the fires roared around him, the shadow he cast was clearly not his own. The monster, as if standing directly behind him cast his hulking shadow toward the throne.
“And what of you all? What is your action? Do you stand with me? Against me? Or are your actions elsewhere entirely? If your action is to stop me or make me wait, then I’d be a hypocrite to stop you.”
Riis takes no action to stop Golgari and no KP or even physical action to stop Kaal. He does, however, try to stop Kaal verbally (which mechanically amounts to jack unless he wants it to). He then finally combats Ikra’s claim with his own and attempts to become King of Konats

Well, it had seemed like he had thoroughly driven a wedge between the bug boy and the prince. Though, to be fair, he didn't really need do to much to do that anyway. It was clear there was a lot of ill feelings towards Riis, feeling he couldn't do the job as ruler. Flip would remember that for later. Even the bug's comments about the Syndicate didn't cause his smirk to fade for a second. Sure, others threw barbs at him for it, but Riis didn't seem to even care about that fact. "Kingpin I may be, but I'm also a leader, and a rather successful one I might add," he gave Babyl a smirk, "A healthy ego is essential for a competent leader. After all, how can they be expected to rule without confidence in themselves?"
And then, in response to his comment about security, the humanoid alien approached him, Flip half expecting him to make some sense of bravado or threat. Instead, what he said caused a small look of confusion to cross Flip's face. Something about a commonwealth? "What...does that even mean?" Was it a reference to something? An attempt at some obscure insult? Flip had no idea. Well, he was leaving after the bug anyway.
Or so it seemed, with Riis calling him to remain, before declaring his full intentions. No ceremonies or anything, just the Konatsian prince declaring himself king of Konats. Well, points for efficiency, Flip had to give him that. The leader of the Fortuna Syndicate leaned on his cane, glancing around the room in case anyone tried to challenge Riis. Sure, with things as they stand, Flip could reasonably challenge him for the throne, and win as well. But there was the issue of the Arcosian in the room. He had a feeling if he tried anything, the Arcosian would step in and beat him down. Besides, Flip didn't NEED to be ruler of Konats. Not when he can get in good with the royalty.
It always helped to have someone else in the forefront.
"You have no objections from me sir," Flip said casually with a smile, "Only my congratulations."

The vulgar moth finally saw fit to leave, an event that saw a muted sigh of relief almost verbally escape the Arcosian's lips. As of now, the entire affair was winding down to a point where no further hostility would be needed. Though he'd initially accepted the offer for a tea, chatter over The Venerator's comms quickly tilted his expression into a small frown. "I am glad that this got resolved without the need for... much senseless violence." He said smoothly, mind wandering to the... overly buff alien with a head in the shape of a chicken byproduct who had yet to really move or do much ever since they'd been halted. "As much as I appreciate your offer to stay and watch such an important event, it has been made clear that many do not exactly welcome me on Konats. Be that to my position, my kind, or any other reason is not of concern on my part."
Freige stretched, relaxing a bit now that many of those in the throne room were leaving. "I'd like to stay, but Arcose demands attention and anything non-critical cannot be afforded time. I bid you farewell..." He paused, throwing a glance at Flip who had remained still. "...Knowing that I'll be sure to send an official congratulations at some point in the near future, celebrating King Riis' coronation." As much as he would've preferred ensuring the soon-to-be king's safety himself, Arcose was in dire straights and so he must entrust the task to the pair of demons. "So as a parting statement, I am glad to have helped ensure peace even if it was perceived initially as unwanted. Adieu." And with that, the Arcosian would turn tail and march out of the palace, intending on boarding his ship and shooting off to the stars.

Leech and Anny started things to keep going crazy first that Golgari guy seemed to be done. He was going to leave with all his moth buddies. Anny didn’t even sense anyone else outside. Maybe it was because there were so many strong powers around. All Anny knew was it was a big mess. She also didn’t want to be involved much more this was not her place. Anny looked at Ikra. Her friend seems to have unraveled slightly. She was always so confident but right now she seemed manic. She was made crazy by Riis. Or maybe this was her true self. Guess if a gallant warrior saved her from the darkness she’d fall for Riis too. Though Riis was anything but gallant. If anything he seemed to be more like them. Self-serving and egoistical. She sighed looking at Leech. “You are almost ready to go.” He nodded. “Yah we can head out soon I think Ikra gonna be safe.” Leech crossed his arms. “And I don’t care about everyone else that much.”
Anny eyed Babyl as he spoke. He made a good point about the whole people thing. People's opinions of leaders could change on a dime. One wrong move and they would not be willing to let you rule. Would he force them to keep his spot? Anny shook her head, she didn’t care that much. This planet was a desert and the only thing there that kept her coming was Ikra. Despite all this and everyone's advice. He even invited challengers to his rule and if anyone wanted to step up they could. Leech looked at him. “I mean sure I’d love to rule this planet but nah. You seem like a snake. Plus If I conquered a planet from a weakling like you. That does not do it for me. If I am going to conquer a planet it is going to be Vegeta. When I put that Queen under my fucking boot.” Anny grunted her brother was an idiot. “What he is saying is no. I doubt anyone gonna challenge you but I’d say your family may not be happy. Guess they are not here so does not matter. Anyway, we're heading out.” Anny waved. “Sorry for causing you all a mess.” Anny turned and Leech followed. Leech then leaned back at Flip. “Tricky guy. I might fight you too. You seem like a scumbag. So you're my type.” He grinned. “See yah later King of Konats.” He said to Flip as a slight to Riis and to make his point that he thought that Riis was not the king at least yet. He still had one man challenging his throne in Flip. Then he went to leave with Anny.

Ikra did not expect Kaal, of all people, to admonish Lord Riis. She did think that he was misinterpreting the situation. Golgari was just mistaken about Riis’s treatment of her. It was her fault, really, for pushing herself so hard. He shouldn’t have blamed dear Riis for that. This was all just a misunderstanding that she wasn’t going to get the chance to clear up. Because he was leaving. It hurt that those closest to her doubted her Riis though. It hurt… but she didn’t show that on her face. She didn’t show anything on her face. Her shadow form had its advantages.
As Kaal called out to her, Ikra turned her head to look at him. On his face was that same smile that she had come to know during his stay at the palace. Comforting and boyish and cute. She wished that he wouldn’t point out her loss of composure, but she appreciated the sentiment. It gave her some strength of will to wrestle her tumultuous emotions back into place. She had just about managed it too when Babyl addressed her. She frowned at him, not that he could see it, but he was probably more familiar than anyone with how shadows expressed themselves. Why did they only see potential in Lord Riis? He was great even now! Was she the only one that could see it? Of course, if he could get even more wonderful, she would love to see that and behold it. But she didn’t see room for improvement as they did. It made it seem like they didn’t think he was good enough. It was a notion that Ikra really couldn’t stand.
But, when Babyl offered himself to Riis, she calmed down a bit. She didn’t appreciate the jab directed at her, but his offer of help to Riis… well, it made her happy that not everyone was leaving her all alone. Ikra wanted her brother close. In response, Lord Riis took Babyl up on his offer, though he, in the same breath, called her rash. She felt terribly ashamed of herself. But… he also said that she was his greatest inspiration. The compliment filled her aching heart with much needed joy and lightness. As he turned to her, her heart fluttered in her chest. She felt like she would melt and turn to butter at his kind words.
“Oh, Lord Riis…” she murmured softly, swooning a bit. Her darling Riis then launched into such a wonderful speech. Ikra hung on every word. The fires blazed to life and illuminated Lord Riis’s monstrous shadow. It wasn’t an unfamiliar sight to her, but it might have surprised others in the room. Perhaps they would think it was her doing. He called for challengers. Those that doubted him to rise up now. And he asked where those that remained stood. Ikra, for her part, kneeled before Riis.
“I stand with you, my lord. Now and forever.”
Her eyes flitted to the others assembled, checking for hostile intent. Friege excused himself and departed. Flip Fortuna… well. Whatever the man’s thoughts, he congratulated dear Riis. He wouldn’t make a challenge. Leech...was his usual rude self. She made a mental note to smack the man around when the opportunity presented itself. Anny was a sweetie as usual. Neither of them challenged Riis and they excused themselves. Ikra wanted to thank Anny and catch up with both of them after this was all over.

Babyl's PL: 26,000
Babyl stood up, smiling at the newfound confidence Riis had managed to find in such a short period of time. The truth of the matter was that Babyl believed he could be a good leader if he would just put himself into the situations required of him. He wasn't a bad person, either, just... passive. It was that passiveness that originally turned him off to the idea of Prince Riis becoming the king. Still, he would be lying if he said his offer of service to the new king was completely selfless. With the acceptance of his offer, Babyl would be able to watch over the progress of the young king while also managing his sister, Ikra, which admittedly he had been absent from for far too long. If he had been here from the beginning, perhaps he could have talked her down. Of course, that might have meant the Riis never stood up for himself like he had just done, but one could never know. Babyl bowed his head with his smile as his form shifted back to his normal, care-free form after being covered in shadow for a short moment. "I am happy that you have accepted my offer, Prince- no, King Riis. I shall do my best to ensure your rule is carried out to the T. And with Ikra as my guide, and vice-versa of course, I have no doubt that even the people will come to accept you and love you just as you deserve it." Turning now to face everyone else in the room, Babyl lifted his hands and bowed dramatically. "Let this day be written down as a new, great point in history! The coronation of King Riis! All Hail the King!" Turning slightly to see Ikra, Babyl smiled in a comforting way, the way he had down to her a thousand times before when he was in the shadow realm. It somehow felt more... genuine when he had a face to show real emotion. He never intended to chide her in such a way, especially in front of people, but she needed to learn a valuable lesson in assumption, not that Riis helped any with that. He is far too soft on her, and it was those actions that led Babyl to the idea that he might need a second guide, one that wasn't so biased toward him that they would agree with any plan so long as it was coming from his mouth. Ikra was so lost in her obsession with the king that it might become dangerous if it kept going this way. He would need to teach her constraint. He knew what she was capable of, she was brilliant and a grand strategist. Riis seemed strong-willed when he wasn't being compared to his brother. What they needed... was a diplomat. Someone who could solve issues with words that would reach the hearts of all those involved. Luckily, that was Babyl's specialty. Babyl dropped his demonic form and returned to normal! He also has offered and been accepted by Riis to assist in his endeavors as king! All Hail King Riis!

With much gusto, his new favorite siblings stood with him. Despite just meeting Babyl, he could see the King had potential and would no doubt help him to reach it. Not to mention he was the brother of Ikra. His most trusted and loyal partner. Were it not for her today would have never come. He would naturally keep an eye on Babyl, but if Ikra trusted him that was enough for now.
“Thank you both. I only hope to be a King worthy of your loyalty. Despite any mistakes I have made or may make in the future."
Finally, things settled down. Riis’ questionably bold speech put the situation at ease. All of the original party crashers seemed to realize they had better things to do. Of course, he did have some parting words for his new “friends.” First were the not so polite siblings. Leech had in a very short time proved himself to be an annoying meat-headed brute. Honestly, Riis could not wait to see him being scraped from the bottom of Kayen’s shoes. But his sister while overt seemed to be nicer.
As such the King would reply in kind. “Best of luck to you sir. When I have a strong army at my side I would love to see you again. As for you madam, I wish you luck keeping your brother both in check and alive.” Then it was Freige’s turn to take his leave. This one despite the rough start turned out to be a rather welcome guest in the end. Riis could easily overlook his previous encounters with fellow members of his race. This was no Lord Chill. “I know I was a little terse with you before Mr. Freige, but I must say I was out of line and I apologize. Thank you for your concern. Consider yourself welcome to Konats at any time. Just be sure to give some warning next time.”
The last one left was both surprising but also not entirely unexpected. Flip, the one more conniving and silver-tongued than the King himself. Riis had to admit, he liked this guy.
“I’m surprised you stayed. Though I must say I am glad. Put it simply, I like your style. I’ve aligned myself with… seedier organizations before. Though I like to think those days are behind me, I believe you and I could still be allies if you are interested.” Riis couldn’t help but feel a sickening thought clawing at the back of his mind. Ikra would still stand with him no matter what. But what about Babyl. Would this already cause him to lose faith on the very first day?

It seemed like nobody else was going to challenge the one prince for the throne. Well, certainly good news, and one that didn't complicate matters. Flip was more than aware of the princes' brother Typha, and figured the powerful Konatsian would object to anyone taking the throne. Part of the reason why Flip didn't try to make a move himself. Besides, it was much easier to have someone else sitting on the throne Flip could work through. That way, when things went wrong, you had a nice patsy to take the fall.
With everyone gone, it was just Flip, the new king, and the two demons in the room. And despite knowing what sort of man Flip was, Riis was still interested in being allies with him. Either Riis believed he could possibly pull one over him, or he was desperate for allies. Well, both Flip could work with. He didn't get to where he was by allowing others to get the better of him. A cordial smile spread across Flip's face. "Why sir, I would be happy to discuss such things. Though at the moment, I do believe I must get back to my ship. Place doesn't just run itself after all." He pointed skyward with his cane, "I believe you may have already noticed it. Feel free to come up sometime and we can talk business. But right now, I'm sure you've got plenty of settling in to do. Good day to you."
With a tip of his hat, Flip turned and strolled out of the throne room, whistling a small tune as he twirled his cane. Well, this had certainly turned out to be an interesting day. Now to see just where this turn of events led.

Babyl's PL: 26,000
Babyl watched closely as the syndicate leader walked away, jolly as can be. That man is definitely up to something. I can feel it. I'll certainly need to keep a closer eye on things. Babyl waited until the hall was silent and he was sure nobody else was around before sighing under his breath with relief. "Now that this matter has been settled, Ikra, I'd like to talk to you in private later. There are some things I must attend to first, though. King Riis..." Babyl courteously bowed, lifting his head once more before asking his question. "Is there a room I may use for my personal effects? I wouldn't dare choose a room without your word." Waiting patiently for an answer, Babyl simply smiled and bowed once more when it was given. He wanted to give him and Ikra some privacy to discuss matters without his intervention now that prying ears were gone. "I thank you for accepting my offer, but might I offer some advice I'm sure you're already aware of? Watch that man. I'm certain he'll try something, and if you attempt to beat him at his own game, I have hope that you are prepared for an intense duel. Especially since it would not be his head on the chopping block should something go terribly wrong." Babyl fixed the buttons on his vest and tidied up his shirt. "Anyway, I trust your judgement, King Riis. Take care." Babyl carefully turned to leave, ensuring his back was never turned while Riis' eyes were upon him as a sign of respect. He would be putting his life into the hands of someone who has up until now been shown to be quite passive. If he was not up to the task, Babyl would not hesitate to pick up the pace and show him how leadership should be in the most respectful manner. He would never abandon the man who has his sister hypnotized effortlessly and without intent to do so. He had the charm of a demon, and he could respect that... but it certainly still warranted careful observation. Observation which would unfortunately have to wait. Attempted Exit

As the rest of those present filtered out of the throne room, Ikra let her defensive facade drop. Shadow retreated from the room and her own body, disappearing inside of her like they had never even been there in the first place. Ikra knew that she should be happy. Overjoyed even. Her beloved Riis had finally taken his rightful place on the throne of Konats. But… it wasn’t how she had imagined it. It felt awfully bittersweet with Golgari’s outburst and subsequent departure. Not only that, but Riis hadn’t quite received the support that she had been expecting. No one else could see his greatness for what it was. Well, except for maybe Babyl. She was grateful that her brother had been so supportive. She didn’t relish the talk he wanted to have with her. He was probably going to fuss, and she felt bad enough already for her earlier misstep.
Babyl offered some final advice before excusing him. It would be nice to have him around in the castle. She had missed him. Turning her attention back to the object of her affection, Ikra bowed her head and smiled warmly at him if a bit sadly, putting her true emotions on display for the first time since everyone had arrived.
“My king… congratulations,” she said softly, moving over to his side, “We’ve much work ahead of us, but today, you have truly shone as a ruler… and as the man who has captured my heart. I wish Prince Typha were here to see your ascension. I think he would be very proud of you as I am.”
Ikra tilted her head to the side curiously and smiled. She was sure that he already had many things that he wanted to do. “What do you wish? Shall we forge on into the future together? Tee hee!”
Attempting to exit with Riis.

Finally, the king let the fires die down. His shadow returned to its normal form, his humanoid visage. He was king. Like any good king, he had supporters and adversaries. At the moment Flip was hard to peg in either way. Yet Riis did long for a game that he could actually play. These physical shows of brute strength were all well and good, but not his forte. Babyl, of course, did warn him of the danger of this game.
The King simply chuckled to himself. He made sure the human well well out of earshot before speaking. “I know his type. Believe me, the last thing I want to do is go anywhere near him unprepared. If nothing else he’ll just be a friend with similar mannerisms as me. As for rooms, there are plenty to choose from. A rather well-kept servants quarters directly below my room. I assure you, my father’s… my servants are taken care of. And you are already much more than a servant. For now, I will leave you to your business. Thank you Babyl.”
Last was Ikra. His most loyal follower. As expected she was ready to wait on his every word. The King smiled, slowly planting himself on his throne. “My dear Ikra. They have a point. I have neglected you in recent days. Yet you helped me more than anyone today alone. Thank you.” With that, he let out a deep relieved sigh. What was next for him? As his demoness so accurately stated, there was much to be done. “The future is ours to mold now. But today was a trying one for sure. For now, all I ask of you is to stand here with me.” He gestured to the right-hand side of his throne. “Typha,” he mused, his gaze turned upward, “wherever you are now, whatever heroic deed you are doing, I hope you can come home to see me. Perhaps now I have at least started to earn the right to call myself your equal.”
Once everyone else is gone (except Boft who seems to have had an aneurism) Riis will exit with the title of King of Konats. He does right? Finally?
