Warm sands were so much different than the lush grasses of the forest. It reminded her of the prevalent dusty gravel of the Demon Realm wastelands. Except, instead of red and gray, it was all just… brown and blue. Oddly contrasting colors but this was Earth, after all. One of the main reasons she’d landed and explored the area was to… well, appraise the land if it was worthy enough to train upon. The forests provided too many risks to just destroying everything and, ever since her fight with Cress, the Demon had hoped that she could avoid the guilty feeling of destroying something she actually liked about Earth. At the moment, she was on the fence about whether sand was an acceptable terrain to fight in. Standing immobile for a few moments, a grimace on her face as her legs would be practically eaten up to her knees by the course particulates… No, she was not liking the idea so far. “Ugh!” She pulled one leg out, inadvertently pushing the other farther into the sandy bank as she struggled to move. “What an absolutely HORRID place to walk. I didn’t even realize sand could get such places…” She’d need to take bath soon after this. When she hardly got very far, Zriracha would give up on standing and instead float into the air – shaking off the remaining sands like a dog would from their fur. “Disgusting.” Thankfully, there was a small grassy ‘island’ she could stand upon and relax. It was hardly what she would call a ‘proper’ size to train on but it would due for some meditation. Whisker

Whisker's PL: 18,000
Under the shade of a palm tree, Whisker was lying rather relaxed while thinking of all the neat things Polarus had recently taught him. While Polarus' methods were very straightforward and somewhat aggressive, Whisker had enjoyed the company of his training partner. Unfortunately, he had other things to attend to today and Whisker was left without an instructor. The small cat may look relaxed, but upon closer inspection, one might actually realize the poor feline is bored out of his mind! He had already done his morning solo-training, but was falling flat when it came to new ideas. The heat didn't bother him too much because of its similarity to his home planet, but it didn't mean he wanted to stay out in it forever and risk scorching it! Coming up with a decent idea as he gazed upon the small spring of water in the middle of this vast desert, Whisker carefully changed into a set of training shorts and hung his cloak on his tent gently. After whispering a few words to it, the small kitten jumped into the pool of water and tried to stay under as long as he could! Breath training would surely help his stamina, thus allowing him to last a lot longer in battle. Staying there under the crystal clear water for only a minute or so, Whisker emerged from the water, breathing heavily and shaking his fur off. Not a bad start! I can do this! Over the course of the next few minutes, Whisker submerged and reemerged over and over, extending his time by just a few seconds each time. He had to train hard so that Plaris and Master Tini would be proud!

She’d only been able to just settle into some meditation, the soft whisper of the wind helping to calm her thoughts, when a sudden scent of power caught her attention. Its potency was much stronger than an average mortal’s, and familiar at that! Her eyes snapped open in recognition, her turning in the direction it came from with a soft gasp, “Whiskers?” They weren’t too far away, perhaps a good handful of meters, but the thought of meeting with the young kitten was enough to convince this Satyr that meditation could wait. Curiosity would always guide this one’s actions. Bounding from the island, Zriracha would glide along the sands just enough to not have to get any in her fur before following the young one’s power to a surprising oasis! “How does this exist?” She questioned, floating above the water with a contemplative expression, brow furrowed. When Whisker’s would surface again above the water, the Satyr would float down silently before extending a hand out and attempting to scratch the kitten behind his ear, “Whiskers!” She announced, a grin on her face as she tried to surprise her little friend. “It’s me!” She would pull her hand back and cross her arms, floating nearly completely upside down above the water. “What are you doing here, in the water of all places?” She would ask, head cocked to one side inquisitively. Whisker had certainly not been expecting his ears to be touched when he reemerged from the refreshing pool of water. Jumping back with his arms flailing wildly, Whisker screeched in surprise before seeing who it was that decided to sneak up on the poor cat. Breathing heavily from both the breath training and the sudden startling presence, Whisker held his hands above his head and stretched, shaking his head so that some of the moisture would remove itself from his fur. His hair was now spiked all over the place, and when he did finally address his visitor, he did so through gasps of air. Huff. Puff. "Zira? Is that you? What are you doing here? And WHY did you sneak up on me!" Whisker climbed up onto the edge of the spring and shook himself once more before attempting to tame his wild fur. It hadn't been too long since he saw her last, being that he was in Central City just a week ago. It was there that Whisker had first seen her in this form. She looked like a cute, tall goat person with soft fur! She said she was a "Demon," whatever that meant. All he really knew was that his friend had been in the same place as he was and he liked being with his friends! "I'm... here to train! Mister Plaris and I have been training in the desert for a couple of weeks since the first time I asked him to help me. But he couldn't come today... so I was gonna train alone but I got bored... Then I started doing breath training! That's where you hold your breath as looooong as possible, then come up for air and do it again! If you do it enough, you can stay under for a long time!" The cat's big, goofy smile was indicative of his earnest goal of self-improvement and his general lack of self-doubt. "You wanna try? It's pretty hot in the deserts here, but not as hot as Konats was. The water feels really good!" Whisker combed back his fur, which at this point was covering his tiny ears and making his head look much more round than normal. To anyone else, he might not even look like a Hakaijin!

She chuckled, turning herself back over while in the air to look at him properly, “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help but tease you – just a little.” She followed him over to the dry land of the shore ad landed, crouching down as he shook his fur clear of water and cleaned himself. She listened, her smile fading slightly as she understood that Whiskers was still training. She felt a little bad for him that Polarus couldn’t come to assist his training but when he offered to let her training with him during the breathing exercises – the Satyr couldn’t help but glance at the water with intrigue. “Hmm,” She thought about it. It could be fun, and she recalled a similar thing that her Father had tried to teach her once – a long time ago back in the Demon Realm. She turned back to the Hakaijin and grinned, moving her hands forward to push in at his furry cheeks with two fingers, “I think I’d like that. But, ah – you might be much further along than I am. I have never tried this in water before.” She stood to her full height and began to walk into the water. “Back within the realm of Demons, my Father would bring me and my siblings to a blood-river falls and encourage us to stay beneath its surface for a long as possible. It was difficult because, for some of us, it had the power of negative empowerment and we’d only want to fight and beat each other up afterwards,” She laughed, finally reaching the deepest part of the waters. However, because she was much taller than the kitten, the water didn’t quite come up to her head and so, she would have to duck down and sit beneath the water’s surface. She looked to Whiskers, “Are you ready?” Then, after a moment, she would suck in a deep breath and submerge quickly. There, sitting as she floated (assisted by her weight so she wouldn’t bob back up to the surface) Zriracha would count the seconds that went by as she held out for as long as she could. When it felt as though she was going light-headed, the Demon forgot what number she was at and coughed – bubbles rushing from her before she scrambled back to the surface. She gasped as she broke the surface, panting as her fiery hair weighed down heavy with water. “Th-That… is terrifying. And you just… keeping doing this?” She asked between breaths. Whisker

It certainly seemed like the two were close enough that teasing would be considered normal, but he still wasn't expecting Zira to suddenly appear! "How can everyone but me fly? It looks so fun and it's totally not fair. Hmph." He mumbled and puffed out his cheeks for a moment before laughing. He couldn't help but think about how funny Zira looked floating upside down! Whisker finally caught his breath and eased himself back into the water before turning back to Zira. It certainly looked like she was interested. "Come on! It'll be fun! And if you get too tired, you can just splash around!" When she suddenly poked his cheeks, Whisker giggled and rubbed them gently. They were one of the fluffiest parts on him, and he always laughed whenever someone poked him there. "I'm not that far along, I just started a little while ago. You've never done this in water?"As he listened to her short story about these "blood-river falls" He couldn't hope but cringe a little at the thought of blood everywhere. "That sounds gross! And super sticky. What's 'Negative Empowerment'? Is that a demon thing?" When she did enter the water, He was sure the water would at least be deep enough to cover her head. When it didn't, Whisker just puffed his cheeks out and gently splashed her. "So tall!" Still, he joined her, swimming close to her before they both went under. When she asked if he was ready, he nodded, then dove deep under water and kept himself on the bottom of the spring and closed his eyes, focusing only on maintaining his breath. He would have been down there a lot longer, but Zira started panicking and wound up taking water in! Lucky all she had to do was stand up, but Whisker quickly swam to the surface to make sure she was unharmed. "Are you okay Miss Zira? You're not supposed to breathe in the water! You're only supposed to stay under until it gets too hard, then you quickly swim up. It's not so scary once you get used to it! Certainly sounds a lot less scary than blood water..." Whisker then dove back down to demonstrate. He managed to stay down for a solid two and a half minutes before needing to come up for air, and when he did, he kept his arms above his head to make breathing easier. "See! Huff... huff... It's not so bad! It just takes some getting used to! And this has the bonus effect of making you feel reeaaally refreshed on hot days like this." He smiled and patted Zira's soaking wet hair, giggling and pushing his own out of his face. "I know you can do it! I bet you can do anything!"

As she caught her breath, Zriracha would wave dismissively at the concern, “Y-Yes, I’m… fine. Phew…” She chuckled weakly when he mentioned that she wasn’t supposed to breathe in the water or drink it, the thought more endearing than potentially upsetting her in anyway – even if she knew she wasn’t supposed to breathe it in. As she made to speak, he would bounce back down into the water and proceed to hold his breath. She looked at him, still catching her breath and counted. As she passed the minute mark of counting, Zriracha couldn’t help but be VERY impressed with him. While she couldn’t be sure because of the light-headedness, the Demon could believe that Whisker’s held his breath far longer than she did. When two minutes passed, Zriracha wasn’t really impressed as much as she was concerned. Eyebrow furrowed upwards and she was fighting against the urge to reach in and pull him back up to make sure he hadn’t drowned in showing off to her. Just when she was about to plunge her arm into the water, he burst from the surface with both arms held up. As he huffed and puffed to get his composure, the Demon felt herself sag with relief and place a hand over her chest as her heart nearly beat out of her chest. When he pat her wet hair, telling her that he bet she could do anything, the sheer potency of such inspiring words nearly had the Satyr face flush a deep red and almost heat up the water with how much it threw her off kilter. She grinned widely, touched by the affection of such an innocent and encouraging gesture. “Alright! I’ll try it again! OH! Afterwards, if you want, I can help teach you how to fly. We might do it differently, but I imagine the concept is still the same!” She held up her hand, inviting him to a handshake, “Sound like a deal?” Whisker

Whisker's PL: 18,000
Whisker watched as his words seemed to brighten Zira's face. This in itself made Whisker smile even larger and brighter! He was ready for round two! "W-wait... You can teach me how to fly?! Yes please! I would love to learn!" Whisker Grabbed her hand with his little paw and shook it vigorously. He was so excited that not only would he get to be useful, but he would also get to learn a really neat trick! Preparing himself to go again, he instructed Zira to hopefully help her get used to it. "First we have to take a few deep breaths to maximize airflow!" Whisker breathed in deeply, then exhaled fully, and repeated this several times. "Then, after we've done this for a little while, take a biiiiiiig breath in and hold, and as soon as you do, go under and stay completely still! Moving too much makes you lose air quicker!" Finally, he dove down and held his breath for as long as he could, adding just ten seconds to his previous record of two and a half minutes. He continued this for around half an hour, watching Zira carefully from both under and above the water, making sure she would be alright each time she tried. She certainly seemed like a natural, but he could tell she wasn't used to this. Taking a small break from diving, Whisker swam back to the edge of the spring and relaxed a little, taking in the warmth of the sun. Training was way more fun when there was someone there to talk with, and he felt as good now as he did when he was training with Polarus! The next time Zira came up for air, Whisker called over to her. "Let's take a break so we don't overdo it! It could be more harm than good if we don't take time to breathe normally. Besides, I wanted to ask about how you've been!"

Zriracha gave a soft laugh at how excited Whisker’s was to learn to fly, her arm wiggling up and down in vigorously in the wake of the kitten’s vigor. “Of course! Not only is it a necessary skill, but it’s fun too!” She grinned, much more concerned with helping the Hakaijin to enjoy themselves rather than just become stronger. When they were both ready to be serious, for however long that would last while together, Zriracha would give a nod of agreement and begin to take in some breaths and breathe out; her chest moving in and out in great motions compare to the little kitten’s chest. When she was ready, keeping in mind the importance of not moving, she would quickly duck under the water. For a minute, she managed – not quite impressive but better than before. When she’d gotten close to the minute and forty five mark, she could feel the sinking feeling of her body losing connection with her head and – instead of nearly eating the water like last time – she pushed herself back up to the surface and gave a loud inhale of breath. She laughed nervously in between breaths before continuing, giving a little shaky thumbs up as it was apparent that she WAS improving. When they were finished, and none too soon by the tiredness in her eyes, Zriracha would swim/walk back to the shore and practically crawl onto the sands to flop over onto her back. It was quite obvious to the kitten that Zriracha didn’t really train that often and certainly not her lungs. Well, the good news is… the Amaterasu should be a bit more potent now… She looked up at Whisker’s, mouth open in a small ‘o’ as she thought about how to answer. “Well, I’ve, uh… been well. Thank you. Earth is still very strange to me and I never really know what to expect, but it has an unpredictability that only enhances it’s endearment.” She looked up at the sky, still lying on her back with hand holding her stomach. “I never knew that such a world could hold so many different possibilities… Oh, well,” She rolled her eyes. “Not exactly for me, but for many mortals within the realm. I am more keen to just enjoy the contrasting differences between this realm and my own. Things are… very different back home.” Whisker

Whisker's PL: 18,000
Whisker sat cross-legged as Zira spoke, listening to every word she spoke with intrigue. Learning about the Demon realm was certainly interesting, and he wanted to learn as much as he could about everything! "How long have you been on Earth? What is the Demon Realm like?" Whisker's eagerness to learn more about Zira was almost blinding. "What do you like most about this realm?" Whisker's tail wiggled as he listened, and he played with the grass idly, just enjoying the breeze. It was rare he got to talk so long with someone without having to worry about doing anything else. He felt good about spending time with a friend, especially when he got to learn more about interesting things such as realms and rivers of blood. When Whisker hopped up onto his feet, he stretched and scratched his ears gently. "Are you hungry Miss Zira? I have some snacks if you want some! It'd be nice to eat before we train some more." Whisker waddled over to his tent and dug through to grab some of his snacks, which consisted of dried fish, meats, and fruits. He offered some to Zira with a smile and picked some out for himself. Whisker dried himself using a towel, forcing his hair to become very puffy and soft for a few moments as he started to brush it down. Waiting for the food to be finished before stretching once more, Whisker offered a hand to Zira. "How hard is it to learn how to fly?"

“Oh, uh…” She blinked, looking over at Whisker’s as he inquired about her home. She wasn’t expecting such an inquisitive response and certainly none so… positive. She thought about it, recalling all the places she’d been and how long she’d been on the planet, “Perhaps… about 6 months or so? It is hard to recall, so much as happened…” She laughed, trying to put into words just how different the realm of Demons was. “Well, it’s-” It was hard to describe – especially to a child as kind and innocent as Whisker’s seemed. Her face fell into one of regretful sadness, “It’s not like Earth. There is freedom to do what you want, yes, but… there are expectations. It is a realm filled with chaos and corruptions; lawless and fraught with dangers,” She smirked and leaned up to hold a clawed hand near the kitten, “Imagine! A world where, instead of justice and law, you must commit crime and acts of atrocities! It’s like opposite day compared to the relative peace of this democratic society,” She laughed, laying back down with her arms under her head. “As for what I like about this realm, well-” She pursed her lips, thinking. “It definitely has to be the forests. Lush, green places that carry on as far as the eye can see… animals that seem to have no fear of you, no matter how you look. There’s a great… satisfaction in that.” After some time, Whisker’s offered some snacks – to which the Satyr’s stomach would quickly respond before she would have a chance to decline. She laughed, “Yes, I would like that very much.” She leaned back up, watching as he retrieved it before cocking her head to one side and picking out some fruits and meats. As she ate Whiskers had begun to clean himself and she found herself… oddly mesmerized by his habits. With how fluffy his fur got, she was almost very tempted to give him a scratch or two but held back; teasing was one thing but invading personal space was another. Later, perhaps… If he is acceptable to it. She mentally noted, just before he asked about how hard flying might be. She finished her last bite and licked her lips, thinking. “Not… too hard, I would think. If you can control energy or manipulate magic, I believe you’re not too many steps behind. Come,” She got to her hooves and moved away from the oasis, “Let’s see how much you know of energy. You might be able to teach me a thing or two, as well,” She delivered with a wink. Once they’d gotten far enough away from the water, Zriracha turned back around and then crossed her arms. “This should be good. Magic is a bit different from energy but, if I am correct, the concept is still the same. Energy is within you – that you draw out. Can you push that energy out in the form of a wave or ball of energy? Like,” She held her arm out and away from them, toward the great expanse of sands. Then, with a soft ‘fwoosh’, she released a ball of fire that would impact ground and create a super-heated area of blackened sand and glittering glass shards. “-that?” Whisker

Whisker's PL: 18,000
Whisker hopped up to follow Zira away from the oasis. He thought about what she said, about how the demon realm seemed like a bad place. "But miss Zira... you're not mean at all! You're one of the nicest people I know, so I'm glad you're here and not in the demon realm cause you're my friend and I know you're not a bad person!" He smiled as he explained that it would be pretty easy to learn how to fly. He was so excited! He had always wondered how people could fly but had never tried doing it himself before. When they finally stopped a ways away from the oasis, Zira started talking about energy and magic, and how they were pretty similar. He had learned about energy previously from his master, but they hadn't gotten to controlling it in that way yet. When she blasted the sand with fire, Whisker clapped and giggled. "That was so cool! I can't do that, but I can do this!" Whisker lifted his hands and concentrated his Ki into his fists. Small, dense balls of Ki formed at them with a clear blue hue. As he launched his fists toward the sand, the balls flew out and reformed quickly. He threw a few punches slowly, blackening the sand in small bits, then rapidly like a machine gun, and finally he put a lot of energy into one hand, leapt into the air, and launched himself at the ground full force, leaving a blackened glass crater larger around than he was where he landed. "It's not much, but it's what my master taught me!"Whisker ran back up to Zira with a big grin on his face and his hands behind his back. "Did I do well miss Zira?" Whisker rubbed his hands together nervously. He wanted to impress his friend and show that he was strong, but did he show off too much? She wouldn't dislike him for this would she? "W-what do we gotta do now?" Whisker turned toward the sand, ready to take whatever instructions he was given to heart and try his best to learn how to fly. He was sure to make Polarus proud if he learned how to fly during training and surprised him with it! Next time, he might not have to resort to using that... weird, super scary power. He could finally be strong on his own!

There weren’t many things that could melt a Demon’s heart – it just wasn’t how they were wired. Good Demons simply didn’t exist as a whole and were very much considered to be contradictions to their species. Zriracha, to her credit, didn’t consider herself a very successful Demon… but neither was she a complete failure, either. She’d killed before. Lied. Cheated. Stolen. Imbibed and performed other… inappropriate acts in her 200 years of life. However, it was during this short period that she had learned – through strife and error – that there were key differences between what she could do and what she wanted to do. Wreaking havoc and mayhem was one… killing senselessly was not. She learned such lessons the hard way. Although she wished she could believe what Whisker’s had said to her – there just wasn’t enough goodness that Zriracha could see in herself to believe it. It is a nice thought, though… isn’t it? It wasn’t the time for such thoughts, however, as the Demon refocused on Whisker’s training. She observed what he could do; gathering what looked to be concentrated bubbles of energy around his hands and launching them like little projectiles. Even being able to use it to project himself in the air. She clapped, impressed, “You did! I’m quite impressed! You’re not very far off from being able to use it to fly, that is for certain.” She could tell he was nervous, but he had no reason to be. For someone so young and talented, he had much potential and she intended to draw it out to it’s FULLEST! She stood next to him before kneeling down and placing her hand against the sand, “This is how I was taught as a child… Place your hand upon the ground.” She instructed, waiting for him to do so. “Feel that? Press down against it? When you do so, does it not press back against you? Resisting? When you fly, you must imagine this beneath you all the time; this pressure that holds and supports you. As we bring our energy – or magic – to bear, it is always a push that you feel, but sudden. To fly… or even levitate… we must push that below us slowly and but with force and consistently. Does that… make sense, young one?” She smiled weakly, eyebrows curving upwards. "Would you like to try it?" Whisker

Whisker's PL: 18,000
Whisker smiled and cheered, he had done what she expected! Sure, it's something he was used to, but it's not something he had been complimented on! It felt really nice to get compliments on something he'd worked hard for! "I can use this to fly?" Whisker looked at his hands in amazement and tried thrusting it in the air to make himself fly, only for nothing to happen. He tried again and again, and when nothing happened, he puffed his cheeks out and realized he might have been doing it wrong. He then sighed and watched Zira explain how she was taught. Huh... That makes more sense. Whisker blushed and looked a bit embarrassed for his silly presentation earlier, then placed his hands on the ground nervously. Controlling the Ki in his body was easy, and projecting it in a direction was pretty easy as well. Balancing it? That might be a bit harder. He focused the Ki into his hands and tried to force it out like he normally would through an attack, but all that did was throw sand everywhere, causing him to cough and hack up plenty of it. After he wiped it all away, he tried again, this time in a smaller area and with less potency. It dug a hole, but that wasn't what he wanted! When he tried a third time, he attempted to widen the area in order to cover his whole body instead of just the one place. To his surprise, his entire body jumped into the air gently. He had done it! He had managed to push himself away slightly! Too excited to leave it at that, Whisker tried again, this time putting a lot more pressure into it. The problem was, he forgot the "consistent" part, and let go of it immediately, and he put a little too much pressure into it, launching himself several feet into the air and then onto his back. "Oof! I-I think I did it too hard..."Standing up again, Whisker dusted himself off and rubbed his sore hip. He couldn't stop now, not when he almost had it! Whisker breathed in and out like his master had once taught him, focusing his energy into his hands and feet. He started off slowly, allowing it to build power over time by consistently pushing Ki from within himself to the outside world. After a few moments, his body lifted off the ground and hovered for a just a couple seconds before dropping. Then a couple more... Eventually he was able to find the perfect amount that it would take to lift him up for longer. He concentrated hard, and had been using a lot more ki than what was necessary because of it. When he had been hovering for about 20 seconds, he finally fell to his feet, breathing heavily. "Did... Did I do it?"
