Thread PL: 5 No Modifiers Active
Kabocha after sleeping for most of the 3rd day, waking only in the afternoon after her dangerous encounter with a tiger fumbled her way through the snow. It took hours of movement with the weighted clothes on. Her body felt like lead. She felt like every single step sent needling pains through her. Yesterday was such a mistake. She should have remembered to take it slow and steady. She should have known to be careful afterwards, and she should have remembered the general rule with lactic acid in your body. she was meters from collapsing from the buildup and being eaten by a near blind tiger. She found herself tearing up as she passed by the mountainous region and slowly into a rocky biome of the Wasteland. She sniffed and wiped at her face to keep herself from outright crying as she berated herself for her incredibly stupid mistakes [ Yamu would have told us 'you're an idiot' for being so reckless, I really just ran with stupid reckless abandon, even after all the time Garruk spent trying to keep me safe, I immediately nearly got myself killed.] She bit her lip as frustration took hold to stave off the disappointment coursing through. Thankfully, she didn't dwell for well too long of self loathing. She cheered herself up by taking a moment to enjoy the sights while she could unlike with the east. [ Wow, I know it's 'just a bunch of rocks' but you really have to appreciate the rocky formations here. Imagine how long it took for these to form from rain/snow storms...] her miserable pout turning to a more wondrous look on her face. [I know I should keep going but...] She took a moment to relax- sort of. She walked to one of the tall pillars of naturally formed stone and threw herself at the formation, gripping onto the stone and whimpering as her whole body screamed from the immediate action without stretching [ BAD IDEA! OW! Mmmmnmn..] She grumbled a bit from the pain. Though the longer she hugged the rock, the more her body relented and relaxed enough for her to begin climbing up the stony pillar. When she finally found her way to the top she collapsed on top and rolled over onto her back, watching the sun slowly set closer to the horizon. Not enough to become sunset or dusk, but that nice bright yellow glow that fills an area. She sighed happily on top of the stone and looked about once more. Surveying the rolling mountains that came into view when she got to a higher point. seeing the clouds split around it and come back together soon after, even the sight of how the sandy plains of rock seemed to glisten in the yellowing sun's rays. " Wow...." she muttered to herself. She smiled brightly at the scenery before her. Then. A thought occurs. [ H...How am I gonna get down?] [ Oh no.] and with a moderate bellow of " FUCK!" she flopped onto her back

"Watch your language!" A distant voice called, followed quickly by the arrival of a flying half-Konatsian half-Saiyan toting a blue sword slung around her back. Hazel had been in the Gizard Wastes for... not that long honestly, and this was the third person she had come across while simply moving about. It was odd, the sheer number of dudes and dudettes that populated the usually desolate area. The first one attacked her, the second one wanted to help with training, and now there was this roughed up looking girl who seemed rather upset about something freaking out on top of some random rock. "What's the matter, random rock girl? Surely you weren't swearing to the ancient rock deities." She had no idea if there were ancient rock deities, but that'd be pretty cool if there were. Landing to sit next to the girl, Hazel would offer a comforting pat on the shoulder.

Kabocha was going to continue with a rant about 'Dumb rocks' that she literally just complimented, but after hearing that exclamation in the distance she sat straight up. A confused expression plastering her face as she looked left, then looked right. [A... Am I going crazy? It's only been a minute being up here, how did the delirium set in this quick?] She thought to herself, and paused as she felt a shiver go down her spine. She turned around just in time to see the Konatsian fly towards her [HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN FLY?! IS THIS JUST A THING?!] She emoted a bit of disbelief, but muted the sheer volume of her actual astonishment as much as she could. The first words out of Kabocha were a polite "Sorry" in response to the proclamation earlier. [Well, good to know i'm not crazy] "I- ah... kinda got stuck on the rock. My body's aching from running so far yesterday, and I climbed up this pillar, forgettin' that climbin' down's a lot harder and i'd rather not die from the fall" she explained her little outburst the best she could as she watched the other sit next to her. "Dunno if there's rock deities, but if there were, they really did a great and terrible job with this place. Tip to the possible rock gods, maybe make your beautiful formations with stairs" she joked chuckling a bit at her situation.
Kabocha took a moment to assess this new person as her tail swished side to side against the cold sandy stone. She... looked pretty normal actually... I mean, she's got some EARS, but not gonna lie, it kinda made her look like an elf and with the sword it kinda pulled the look off well together. [Are we gonna skip by the fact she has a sword?] a brief thought passed her mind, but frankly- given her week with meeting a super tall arcosian that could lob a boar like it was made of paper, nearly dying to a tiger, and said boar, and learning that there's this weird thing called ki? this was the least concerning thing to her. "Oh- ah- hey. I'm Kabocha, my friends tend to call me Gourd, who're you?" she introduced herself while relaxing now, sitting down at rest now instead of the 90 degree angle she was sitting at attention with.

"You got... stuck?" Hazel said curiously. Usually, 'normal' people never came out this far into wastelands like this for reasons just like that. The girl didn't look like a child, either, so her judgment shouldn't be skewed or stunted enough to wander around in places dangerous for them. Then, another curiosity popped up, that being the sight of a tail. "Aren't you a Saiyan?" She said, pointing the appendage. "Or at least, half-Saiyan?" Even just a little bit of blood made most people way stronger than usual, which theoretically meant that Kabocha should be well equipped to handle some climbing. Of course, Hazel couldn't exactly sense ki so had no way of knowing how powerful the stranger actually was. Still, though, there wasn't a case that came to mind in which someone with Saiyan blood was on-par with normal Earthlings. Supposedly, even the President of Earth was half-Saiyan and while he wasn't that strong, he still was leagues above the general populace. "I'm Hazel." She introduced herself back, offering a smile. "Half-Konatsian and half-Saiyan wandering warrior." Pausing for a moment, the hybrid gestured towards the ground below. "If you're stuck I could give you a lift? I doubt you'd be that hard to carry." Assuming Kabocha accepted... Hazel would wrap her arms gently around the girl's torso, floating carefully to the ground below and dropping her off feet-first. "So why are you even out here in the first place?" It was a reasonable question to ask, especially since Kabocha had trouble navigating the terrain by herself. "Did you vehicle break down? Took a wrong turn on a hike?"

Kabocha cocked her head to the side a bit at Hazel at the curious questioning on her being stuck "w-well yeah" She started, feeling a wash of mild embarrassment run through her. Her tail curled up a bit pensively as she tried wondering what Hazel meant by that. [She's makin' it sound like that's super weird. I don't think it's weird to get stuck trying to climb down when you're exhausted] "I mean, I can't fly like you or my friend Garruk" She shrugs and leans forward, pulling her knees up and hugging them. "And ah- yeah, i'm a full blooded Saiyan. My Mom and Dad were both from Planet Vegeta." She started the explanation on herself again, being more careful of how she phrased things this time. "I was born here on earth though, same as my sister Radisa, my other sister Renkai, and my brother Yamu." She paused and found herself back again at mentioning Potana to someone. Why was there hesitance on it. Maybe this person had met her eldest sister. "My uh- My oldest Sister Potana was born on Vegeta though before my parents and her left to Earth" She said a bit quickly, trying to keep the conversation going
"Hazel... Nice name!" She gives hazel a smile "I'm not really familiar with Konatsian, I don't think my dad ever researched that." She ran over her details on her race a bit more, and looked to her ears [That must be where the ears come from, and... why's her tail blue?] She blinked at the surprising note, then back to attention at Hazel's offer "Oh- yeah, sure. If you're okay with it" She stands up and watches Hazel carefully. She raised her arms up to make it easier for hazel as she felt a rather gentle grip around her torso. Honestly it was a lot gentler than Garruk's flight plans. When hazel lift her off her feet, she blushes a bit as she realized [1.) She's strong, I still have my weights on 2.) Not gonna lie I kinda wish I could fly like them, and uh. 3.) I FEEL LIKE A TEDDY BEAR BEING CARRIED AROUND] Her mind raced a bit at the realizations that kinda hit her all at once. Thankfully the half-konatsian's questions kept her mind on topic. "Oh- uh, well-" she started, trying to be coy around the subject like she was with garruk. Though... at this point she was starting to recognize that it wasn't really any use. "I'm headin' west. I'm from the east, and my friend told me a rumor that there's a person out west that i'm looking for. They're supposed to be a guardian. It's a legend, but it's worth going to see"

"You're pretty soft and squishy," Hazel commented idly after Kabocha had been set down, the thought seemingly having just come to mind. "Oh! Not like in a bad way or anything. You just kinda feel different from all the other super strong people I've had contact with. Gentler, I guess? It might make sense if your Power Level is as low as I'm assuming it is, to be honest." Though, when the girl revealed she was headed West in search of a guardian, an idea came to mind. One that had been planted by Yanwang the stout red Ogre not too long before. "You're probably looking for the Kami, Chime. I met someone who knew them personally, and they were wicked strong so I'm pretty sure they're trustworthy. Anyway, they claimed that this Chime lived in a super-duper high up floating bowl-like thing called the Lookout and was basically the spiritual god of this planet and the one who made the Dragon Balls in the first place. Neat, right?"
Pausing to take a breath and to allow the Saiyan to process all the information, Hazel continued: "I am heading there myself actually! I'm on the search for people who could teach me magic to help unlock the full potential of my sword, Penn-" She waved the crystal bladed armament around for a moment just in case Kabocha needed a visual cue. "-Because it's a Konatsian weapon forged with ancient techniques that allow the inscription of runes upon it that give it magic power buffs." Letting out a puff, the hybrid scratched her head for a moment. "So yeah, that's my whole goal and purpose right now aside from getting stronger to protect Konats. My dad was a Saiyan, that's why I gotta tail and why I recognized you as one."

Kabocha's already pink cheeks from being handled like a plush turned a bright crimson at hazel's comment [oh m-y god, ooooooh lord oh gosh i'm blushing. Okay no, no nono! Do not turn red at this!] but she couldn't help it. It was a nice compliment to her and she was not used to that. Though her more flustered expression that betraying-ly plastered her face shifted at the mention that she had a low Power Level. She saw that on a few documents on scouters, but she didn't really understand how the metric was measured. She pursed her lips into a neutral like pout and crossed her arms "...Not that weak..." she huffed, though it wasn't genuine frustration. In fact it kinda felt like something dwelling below coming to the surface in a joking manner. She put on the scouter that Garruk gave her, and tapped it a few times to get to the sensor module for power level. She wanted to prove Hazel wrong- [not sure why though, i'm not actually mad/weak] She paused at that stray thought and looked to Hazel when she started revealing some information. Okay. Some was a lie, a lot of information she didn't know. A modest mountain of information she didn't know. INCREDIBLY. LARGE. SEGMENTS. OF INFORMATION. SHE. DID. NOT. KNOW. Kabocha paused completely as she just kinda stared at Hazel blankly while the konatsian explained.
For an analogy, imagine Kabocha's reaction like a crumbling building. A screw gets a little loose / Her Tail twitches a bit, half swaying and then just pausing again. Then a washer and bolt came off / Kabocha's left eye twitched. Then a support beam fell / Her attention snapped back to Hazel sharp as a tack. As her mind processed this information. So many reactions she could have. So many. Spin the wheel of emotions, and where do we land?
"WHAT?!"
Strike one, let's try again. Her posture seemed to relax ever so slightly. Like a mouse trap being slowly unwound.
"GODS A THING?! MAGIC'S A THING?!"
Strike two, alright let's try one more time. Bring her around home
"WHATS A DRAGON BALL?!"
Ehhh, close enough. Her thoughts scattered in so many directions in her head as she began trying to wrack around her head the information this just gave her "HOW HAVE I NOT KNOWN THIS. I LIVED WITH A SCIENTIST FATHER FOR YEARS. Oh my god i've been living under a rock for yeeeeaaaaars!" She had turned around at this point, hands at her head bellowing all of this out towards the empty wasteland. There was one final pause before kabocha turned towards hazel and sighed "Hazel plea-se explain a little more i've been living under a rock apparently. and not even this rock." she pointed towards the formation she was stuck on

"Woah hey! Slow down!" Forming a T with her hands, Hazel took a step back as Kabocha had a miniature breakdown, looking surprised at the questions and confusion emanating in waves off the poor girl. "I w-would've thought this stuff was sort of common knowledge?? I mean I'm not even from here and I heard of Earth legends as far away as Konats. Well if you need someone to explain I guess I could...?" She trailed off, unsure of what to make of this situation. The thought that Kabocha had lived here for years without knowing while Hazel, a near-total foreigner, had intimate knowledge of Earth's extreme side was odd. "With the powers of mighty summarization I, Hazel, will act as your exposition hose for today! Hopefully, I can explain to help your mind to expand, in a way you might understand."
Rubbing her hands together in preparation, the hybrid took a deep breath and began her tale: "OK so as far as I know the title 'god' is more of a mysticism symbol of respect rather than like an all-powerful deity, as most people including Yanwang who was the one who informed me, call them Kami more often than God. Magic, as far as I know, is kinda similar to the way more commonly seen Ki, with a few unique differences in how they operate. The basic rules for use including skill and exertion apply to both equally... somehow. Dragon Balls, remember the plural are a set of seven orange orbs with varying amounts of stars in them that can be found on both Namek and here on Earth. If one person collects all seven they can use them to summon a mighty Dragon that can grant a wish or wish-es in Namek's case."
Puffing out a breath, Hazel gestured to Kabocha. "Is that good?"

Kabocha relaxed a bit more realizing she just popped a gasket in front of this new person. She nodded as she listened a bit more. There was a small pang of frustration that apparently this stuff was all common knowledge. Gods she was disappointed with her lack of foresight on this. She must have missed every opportunity to learn about all this crazy interesting stuff. She wondered a bit internally [I wonder how much they know/hid] She paused, and pursed her lips a bit, pushing that to the back of her mind, shaking her head as hazel trailed off. She however smiled gratefully as Hazel offered the chance for the clueless saiyan to be brought up to speed. "I'd really appreciate it, thank you"
She sat down on the stony ground, leaning back on her hands even though the muscles whined from minor overexertion while trying to recover from her excessive work yesterday. Kabocha took this moment to really just wipe away any preconceived ideas about the world. She was pretty alright with this at least when given the chance to prepare given her family. The mention that the "god" is pretty much more like a symbol to the world than a deity sort of disappointed her. It would have been nice to meet a legit deity. "I'll be honest. Ki and Magic have honestly sounded like the same thing since i've started my journey. To be fair on myself though, what do you call a mysterious energy that lets you fly or make weird orbs from your hands?" she mused to the konatsian, half jokingly
Then... came the dragonballs. "Oh. Oh that's a thing?" She paused and thought about it more "So you could legitimately make a wish and it'd just grant it? No Monkey's Paw situation about being careful what you wish for? No ulterior motives with using them?" She sat up and pulled herself up off the ground as she started actually absorbing the information properly now. "So... This spiritual guardian made the dragonballs" [Okay that checks out, makes sense given what lucy said...] "You can make wishes from them. aaaaaand Magic is similar to Ki. Okay- cool" She briefly re-summarized to hazel to show that she was getting the gist of it. "Well- thanks for catching me up- but if you have the time for a few more questions..." She cleared her throat and stood a bit straight "ah, do you said warrior earlier... and... you've got that REALLY cool sword. That sort of implies that you're super strong. How did you get strong? Garruk suggested I get strong to survive this journey- but i'm not really making a whole lot of progress. Is Ki / Magic the secret to this?" She asked, feeling a bit dumb that she still didn't entirely get the concept of ki even though she was the daughter of a scientist. In fact, it was starting to make her think that maybe there was actually something to the minuscule thought that her family hid things from her. Though she focused on the chance to ask her really interesting helper another more personal question "And ah, have you been to konats before? What's it like? and, what's your Saiyan side of the family like?" [Oh wow I hope she doesn't think that last bit's weird.]

"Yeah, sure. I guess I just sort of expected most people to know this stuff, but how are you supposed to know about it if you aren't told?" The Konatsian shrugged, rolling her shoulders. "I guess you're right, to an extent. I heard that some people call stuff magic when they don't know how it works. Konats has always had mages, at least as far as I can remember, so the line between Ki, technology, and magic has always been pretty clear." It wasn't meant to belittle Kabocha's knowledge (or lack thereof), instead pitched as a moment of thought. The two still had bit to sort out in terms of communication and whatnot, but by now Hazel was getting rather comfortable. "Though it is a bit odd to me that you didn't really know about Ki OR magic. Did you just live a very sheltered life, or were you on some sort of like far off planet a while back?"
"'Monkey's paw...?'" The term was unfamiliar, though the Konatsian brushed it aside for the moment in order to refocus on the rest of what Kabocha was saying. "I don't think so, at least. I've never made a wish nor have I seen one in person, but from what I've heard the celestial dragon that grants it usually tailors it to be specifically what you want, even if you didn't vocalize a part of it. So I guess it's like the opposite of stories where wish-granters always try and make it as terrible as possible for the people wishing for stuff?" Now that she thought about it, the whole thing was a bit odd. It was pretty nice of the eternal dragons to make sure the wishes went as well as possible for the users rather than tricking and cursing them with a thousand different ailments or something.
The Saiyan girl started rambling a bit about Hazel's gear, prompting the Konatsian to pull out her weapon, careful to point it away from her fragile companion. "This? My sword's name is Penn. It's crafted from a Konatsian resonance crystal, built for taking magical enhancements and far stronger than most other metals in the galaxy." The words were said with a hint of pride, partly because it was a birthday gift made by her own mom. "I'm relatively strong, I suppose. Like probably way, way above the average? I've met a lot of people on my own journey that far outclasses even me, though. And as for how I got this powerful... well, Ki is generally the easiest and most consistent way to go. If you can learn to wield it properly, it basically enhances your entire being to a super level." She paused as Kabocha asked a question about Hazel's very own home planet: "Konats? Yeah, I'm actually from it. It is where I lived for most of my life until I decided to visit Earth! It's mostly just really big and desert-y, since most of our towns are sporadically spread out and most people live in the big huge capital city, which houses most of our important stuff that appeals to offworlders. My mom is a Konatsian and my dad... well, he was the Saiyan part of the equation, but he's no longer with us."

Kabocha's attention grew to hazel more and more as hazel began explaining a bit more about their perspective. Her tail curling up towards the sly and tentatively swishing back and forth like a metronome. "I grew up with a dad that was a scientist. He taught us the basics, the intermediate stuff, and a whole lot in between, but he never told me that crazy magic energy existed." She was starting to get a bit more comfortable with hazel, and found herself feeling comfortable to admit her thoughts to her new friend "Honestly I don't know how much of me not knowing this was coincidental..." She crossed her arms and sighed, her eyes trailing down to the floor for a moment, though pulling back to hazel's attention soon after. thinking about the dragonballs a bit more. Maybe she should look into them.
Kabocha was also mesmerized by the sight of Penn. The sword looked super well taken care of to her. She wasn't an expert but she could see that it looked pretty rad. "That's wild- How do you take care of it? Do you just use a whetstone or somethin'?" She asks, resisting the small gremlin side of her that kept whispering [touch the blade, shiny thing, very very shiny.] Her tail jittering a bit as she continued to look at it, only tearing her gaze at it when hazel spoke again. "That's incredible! How do you wield ki? wait- wait- is there anyway to feel or see it?" She asks excitedly. an excited sensation fluttering in her chest near her heart. "Do you think you could teach me? Or should I ask this Kami since you're gonna ask if he could help you work on magic? Ooooh this is so cool!" she giggles excitedly. Her tail's fur standing on end like it's fluffing out. Seemingly hitting a second wind as she looks like she forgot all about her exhaustion from earlier.
Her excitement only built up as Hazel began to describe her home world a little bit. Where hazel said big and desert-y all she heard was [UNEXPLORED] "Oh, so konatsians live in huge communities instead of spread out ones? Cool!" though her excitement hit a dead end, like a rake sitting on the lawn and accidentally blatting yourself in the face with it, Kabocha's question about Hazel's father just up and blew up in her face. She pursed her lips once more and stood up straight. She looked to the side, embarrassed for a moment as she squeaked out a near quiet "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up a subject like that..." [Oh dear god, why did I ask that. She's been nothin' but nice and I just kinda- 'oh yeah want me to bring the mood by accident?!' ooooh heck.]

"I'm not embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it," Hazel said neutrally, offering a shrug. "Sure I'd rather not go into explicit detail, but it helps remind me why I chose to fight. To train. That sometimes even the magic wishing balls people covet can fail, and people will end up dead without those strong enough to protect them." Realizing her words had little context, the Konatsian decided just to divulge the rest of her short story. "Ah. The whole wishing ball thing, well... my home planet got attacked a little while ago by an army of rogue machines. They wiped out around half of us before finally being halted and one of the princes, Typha, made a wish on Namek using the Dragon Balls to restore Konats to its proper state. ...Except it didn't fully work. Some people, like my father, stayed dead. And due to that I can't help but wonder if things could've been different if I had bee stronger."
Wanting to shift the conversation back to warmer topics, Hazel leveled Penn towards the ground in order to allow Kabocha a full view of the bluish hued blade. "Penn? It's partially magic, a gift from my mother who was one of Konats' finest blacksmiths despite living in such a remote village. I think that and her natural strength was what really caught dad's eye since those traits seem to be people for Saiyans looking to... er, have a kid. It doesn't require maintenance, as the blade never nicks or wears down so long as someone of great power doesn't deliberately try to cause damage." It was all-around incredible, and part of Hazel couldn't help but think it was crafted for her because she might one day wander off-planet... but her mother couldn't have known that at the time, before the scourge even happened, right?
"As for you Ki question, yes there are ways to remotely see other's Ki and even your own. However!" Hazel held a single finger up. "I don't know how to do it. Scouters replicate it as far as numbers go, but from what I've been told it isn't nearly as intricate, detailed, or personalized as using natural sensing is. It is one of the techniques I'm trying to learn, but that priority takes the backburner due to other commitments at the moment." Thinking for a moment, she responded to Kabocha's next question: "If you wanted to learn specifically magic then sure, ask the Kami as they'd know more than me. If you wanted to learn Ki stuff, I'd like to think I would serve as a decent starting platform for newbies like you to gain a boost from."

"Oh-... I wonder..." She piped up for that [I wonder why he didn't come back?] She finished the thought in her head. Not wanting to spark the same fuel of anxiety that she had stirring in her stomach, to hazel. Her mind wandered to Garruk's initial warning of Ki. It could be highly dangerous. It could destroy a planet... There was a sense of weight in that statement now. He wasn't saying that in hypothetical. Not even in theory. From what hazel made it sound by her pacing... this has probably happened. She missed so much information. So much. A beat in her heart hit hard as her mind wandered to her desires. She could nearly hear her heart in her ears as it beat a bit quicker and harder. If she knew how to use this ki. Or Magic. That's one more person keeping her family safe. A few heavy beats began to blur her thoughts. " I'd Love to learn how to use my Ki." she accepted happily the chance to learn how to use this effectively. A sense of desire and pride beaming from her face
[I'm gonna do my family pr-] She continued partially as there was odd squeezing in her chest, a pressure that she associated with an anxiety [-ou-d.... what? Why is my chest squeezing? Am I really that anxious about this...?] there was a pause where she racked her mind for the cause before reaffirming the obvious [Of course, it's not a game.] She rationalized in her head and restarted. "I'd be happy to learn." She says slightly winded from that. holding her breathing steady knowing it would come back, but wanting to hold it down from hazel's perception. when she was able to feel the air fill her lungs just right, she continued. "I'm sorry to hear your dad's still gone, but i'm sure you'll do great things gettin' stronger" She smiles wide and flexes her admittedly not noodly arms, but compared to some people hazel or most warriors may have seen, fairly thin.
"I don't know too much about this stuff, but I mean- I've got a feelin' that maybe we could find out how to do that if you teach me" Her goofy wide grin returns as she half seriously bows to Hazel "I'm clay in your hands hazel, mold me into a proper warrior" She said, again- like with the bow there was the sense that she was exaggerating, but she was fairly earnest in wanting to be taught properly. and she'd happily be hazel's student [I mean, she told me about a whole lot I was super unfamiliar about, so that puts her at par with any other teacher already. I mean, seriously how were they not tempted to just blurt out to the class "OH HEY REMEMBER HOW MAGIC EXISTS?! Cause if that was me i'd never shut up about that. Cause. Yaknow. MAGIC.]

Shooting Kabocha a thumbs-up, Hazel adopted a bright smile. "Epic! Don't worry about your current body either. Ki comes from within and makes looks deceiving. I mean, I'm not exactly the epitome of muscle and sinew myself, yet I still have become decently powerful because I work hard on cultivating my Ki." Tapping her chin, Hazel fell deep in thought. "Hmm... trying to think of the best way to help an admittedly squishy pupil get started without breaking them. There's like this exponential curve, and once you hit a certain power point then it becomes much less likely for you to get like destroyed." Taking a moment to give the Saiyan's arm a poke, she nodded. "Well, I guess we can always just start at the non-physical stuff. See if you have the real potential to utilize your Ki like a talent, or if you're gonna need to work doubly hard just to manifest it."
Stabbing Penn firmly into the ground, Hazel stretched a bit before standing upright. "So! Explaining this to someone who hasn't done before is going to be one of the greatest challenges in my natural born life across all planets, but I'm determined to see it through! First things first you're gonna wanna limber up a bit. I know you might still be tired from your journey, but we shouldn't be doing anything that'll put unnecessary strain on you or your Ki." Assuming Kabocha followed her instructions, the Konatsian would continue. "Next! Close your eyes. It may seem cliche, but honestly, most new people can't focus on drawing out their own power when the entire sense of sight is interfering with their focus and concentration. Worry not! If something bad was to come along I would protect you in this vulnerable state. After that, we have step three!"
Holding up three fingers (that Kabocha shouldn't be able to see right now anyway), Hazel took a deep breath. "Alright, so just try and feel around in your body. Every living thing has Ki, given that it is literally life force incarnate. That means even a tiny squirrel has it too! Of course, not everything is capable of utilizing or shaping it to help them fight bad guys and stuff, but the potential is always there." A slight shimmer surrounded the Hybrid as her own aura effortlessly sprang to life. "If you think you feel it, try to get a grip! It may feel slippery, kind of like trying to grab an oversized wet bar of soap with one hand, but keep trying! This is the first important step in trying to coax your body into letting Ki outside the body." Hazel would pause her teaching to observe Kabocha and her progress so far.

Kabocha smiled at the introduction to ki that hazel was giving her. She listened VERY intently to her mentor's instructions starting with the basics that she doesn't have to be beefy to be stronger- which, to a degree is a relief to her considering her brother's idols looked like they couldn't scratch their own shoulder. Though she gave a mock pout at Hazel when the konatsian poked at her arm. " Alrighty! I'll ah- do my best then! First test!" [ Aaand I hope I do better on these tests than I do at school cause crap i'm in trouble if not] she jumped a bit in surprise as penn was stabbed into the ground before her, and she looked back up to her mentor. Though she did as she was told and sat still, and slowly began to relax. the winds gently swaying made it a nice comforting breeze as her tail swished along the ground before settling around her waist. She closed her eyes, and tried to keep them closed, she was admittedly nervous given her near death experiences so far, but with a confident mentor letting her know that she would be secure, she felt more comfortable having her eyes closed. " Right!" The final step admittedly- sort of confusing to her. How would she feel around inside of herself? She... supposed there was probably a sense she'd been neglecting since she's supposed to keep her eyes closed off to concentrate. [ Like a limb you never use, it'd probably feel weak...] She took a deep breath and relaxed even further, but... she couldn't feel this... thing she'd been missing! Until... When Hazel's aura sprang to life, a feeling beset kabocha. That feeling you have when you feel like you're in danger, that sense that permeated your senses when your body recognized something your brain couldn't. She was going to try to suppress it, when she started to think [ W-wait, this... this is probably hazel! i-if it wasn't, she'd probably have pulled penn out of the ground! this..!] She let herself relax in the moment and try to take hold of that sense that racked her body with warnings. Slippery in a way but for her it felt like a gas, exemplified probably to hazel as what permeated kabocha's body was a weak, almost distorted aura. like a shimmering cloud of steam it rose from her body. It probably felt even weaker than she was as a whole. She probed around her energy, trying to get a single grasp on it but it wicked away like vapor, like trying to grab smoke. Legs, arms, head, everywhere she tried to consolidate her aura on the outside was met with no good result. That is until she tried to find something more centralized. she felt her heart with a strained beat, she confusedly tried to feel her ki around there. solid, solid wisps of her energy... [ it definitely felt like soap- like a block of heavy soap...] on the outside her energy started to shine around her heart. nearly non-transparent as she probed. [ R-right, what hazel taught me, try to... coax it out....] What came next was an immediate burst of her own ki, flaring further and further away from her body as the opaque aura slowly became less solid in color to what it should look like. Kabocha's surprise was topped off by excitement as she opened her eyes and saw a flare of orange around her body- it was absolutely gorgeous to her, and same went for Hazel's aura! It looked so awesome! [ Hazel! Your aura looks cool!] she tried to speak but her lips didn't move. the surprise of this compounded as she felt strange, it felt like she was petrified to a degree. Her eyes slowly going wide in bewilderment as her aura started to produce more darker blobs of orange that focused back to her heart, slowly pulling her aura back to her heart, she reached at her chest and was terrified to feel that she didn't have a pulse! The terror of the feeling would only be relieved as when her aura finally dissipated her heart began to beat again, and she gasped for air, released from the shock of FEELING HER HEART STOP. She looked to Hazel with panic on her face, worried that she might have messed something up, if hazel had seen this happen.
