BACKGROUND:
One day, an egg was left at a person’s doorstep. It was in the middle of the night whenever this egg was left within the doorstep of an old hermit’s home, with little to no traces of whoever this egg might’ve belonged to being left behind. It was as if it had appeared out of nowhere, wrapped with only just a blanket and a knock at the door. The hermit that lived in the home didn’t take too kindly of strangers knocking at her door, so whenever she begrudgingly answered to see who it was, she’d be surprised to see that what appeared to be an ostrich egg was at her door!
This hermit lived deep within the woods, so she was curious on why someone would’ve left it behind, especially at her door of all things! But she’d take the egg inside her home, for she wanted something to snack on for tonight anyways.
The hermit, not realizing that it wasn’t an ostrich egg, would immediately find out that this egg was just about to hatch! As soon as she cracked it open, a chick would come pouring out onto a (luckily) cold pan! The hermit immediately realized that this wasn’t an ostrich at all and was instead a zoan, so instead of having just her own mouth to feed, she’d soon have another one to feed.
Biko obviously had a strange start whenever it came to her upbringing, but as years began to pass, things would seemingly become brighter for the young owl. The hermit, who she figured out to be named Mahou, would raise the chick on her own. Mahou was a woman that lived all by her lonesome within the woods of the north, leaving herself in isolation so that she could live a comfortable life while also working on spells and potions. The woman was a witch if it wasn’t obvious enough, but she wasn’t one of those disgusting green ladies… because unlike a witch, her skin wasn’t green!
Mahou would just raise the chick as any person would, even if they were entirely different whenever it came to their species. But they’d both find out that they weren’t in fact different, for Biko was gifted with an affinity with magic! Mahou discovered this the hard way whenever she saw nearly every object hover in the air all at once, being carried by some mysterious purple glow. Whenever she found out that Biko was the one doing it, just about everything would fall to the floor, all of which broke upon impact.
The hermit would begin raising Biko in a not-so-ordinary way upon finding out Biko’s affinity, teaching them primarily about the fundamentals of magic as well as alchemy! She’d soon coin the name “Bright” from the hermit due to her seemingly bright future within the magic field! It was cheesy, but Mahou thought it was neat upon making it up. But anyways, Biko was quite gifted in this field of study, growing up to be pretty intelligent. The only thing she had no clue about was the outside world, which the hermit refused to teach her. Mahou strangely disliked the outside world, believing it to be a ‘harsh, strange world’ that isn’t ‘fit’ for someone such as Biko.
But being the curious owl she was, Biko would decide to venture out whenever she was old enough. Mahou would allow this, believing that it would be wrong to imprison the owl here even if it guaranteed her safety. Biko would begin her adventure towards the outside world, paving her own path and finding out the mysteries that lay beyond the woods she grew so familiar with!
