Kabocha took a drink from the flask that whisker graciously offered her. She nearly sucked the water right out of it as she chugged. her throat which had more resembled the grand canyon in dryness, had finally gotten some relief. She sighed happily as she pulled the flask from her lips, and she mused at how precious water felt when she was dehydrated. She listened to whisker, and at the mention of demons she muttered a "of course demons are real, why wouldn't anything be real?" she softly chuckled to herself, cupping her face with her hands as she kept quiet while whisker explained more. When he finished she nodded, letting go of her face and letting her hands drop to the ground. It was only gonna get worse. She could barely make her way to the top with the help of whisker. She stared at the unlit campfire and thought to herself. [Was Potana right? Am I really cut out for this? Whisker can just fly if things get dangerous for him, but- this could kill me if I didn't have him by my side.] There was a brief pained look on her face as she briefly reconsidered her journey. Not for what she's done, but trying to hard just to meet someone that earnestly didn't want her to come. But the memory still lingering in her mind. The last memory she had of Potana hugging her before she left lingered still. [Cut out or not... I have to know why she left. and, even still. I have to help out whisker however I can, I owe it to the adorable lil fluffle] She sighed and sat up, not quite as optimistic of her chances of a clear shot, but more determined now. "I'll be sure to let ya know if i'm having trouble alright whisker?" she said to reassure the hakaijin. "And i'd love to learn how to fly! I'll be outside for a moment while you rest, I wanna see if I can fix some of my breathing issues"
She walked outside of the cave, to be met with the buffeting winds that would have caught her off guard and off the cliff if she and whisker hadn't just spent the last good bit of time dealing with them. She climbed down one or two steps, and tried to breathe. It was hard, but not as hard as it had been when they first reached the top. though as her muscles began to strain, and there was a feeling of renewed vigor to keep holding on tightly, she could start feeling the effects of the tightening in her chest. She climbed back up, and she went back into the cave, shivering a little bit and throwing on her weighted gear and blanket to keep her warm. bad mistake to have forgotten that, but not costly thankfully. She relaxed while Whisker was probably finishing up "Hey whisker, when we start up again, if I tug on the rope, do you think we could pause? I think i'll be able to catch my breath better" In truth, it felt bad to ask this. It was when her strength was picking up that her chest hurt, that it got hard to breathe, but she had no clue why. it was so odd.
When Whisker was ready to go, she'd happily follow him.

Whisker's PL: 48,000
Whisker nodded as Kabo confirmed she would let him know if she was having trouble, but even without any way to sense energy, there was one thing his little body could do, and that is sense when someone is distressed. He had learned to read body language from his travels and many experiences with people in trouble, not to mention his own internal struggles. It was evident from Kabo's body language that she was struggling internally with something, he just didn't know exactly what. Even so, he wanted to help her by any means necessary. He had to be subtle about it, because if he just asked her about it, she might not tell him or might even get offended and he didn't want that. When she did return, Whisker was sitting down with his knees up to his chest. Looking at her as she asked him if they could stop whenever she pulled the rope, Whisker smiled gently and nodded with an "Mhm! Sure thing! That's no issue!" He didn't get up immediately, nor did he pack his things to prepare to leave the cave. Instead, he breathed in deep and let his legs sag. He would need to tell the truth about how he felt about this whole situation, as well as perhaps tell a story to his new temporary travelling companion. "C-can I tell you something Kabo? It's a little embarrassing, but I think getting it off my chest is really gonna help..." He waited a little bit for her answer before continuing. "I'm... scared. I was scared at the bottom of the mountain too. I've never done something like this before, and I was waiting for any excuse not to have to go. But when you came along looking for your sister and talking about how you needed to get up the mountain, despite how dangerous it was, It motivated me to keep going. Then on the way up, I was sure I might hold you back because of how small I am. I'm not a bad climber when it comes to trees, but my claws don't really grip rocks that well... Even now I don't know if I could have made it all the way up here without you. Thank you for bringing me up here with you. I really don't think I could have done it myself! I sometimes have trouble believing that I can do things on my own... but then I realized, you don't always have to do things alone! Sometimes, in order to get stronger, you gotta have help and there isn't any shame in that!"The kitten grinned widely and hopped off the makeshift stool. Whisker then started packing everything up and sighed in relief. "Whew! I'm glad I got that off my chest! I feel a lot better now! Are you ready to go Kabo? I can take the lead this time if you want!" Whisker's words were genuine and caring. He was very childlike in his ability to form connections with people over short spans of time, especially when it came to dangerous situations like this. He was a caring little guy and always wanted people to be happy.

She paused when he didn't pack up, and looked back to him curiously as he started to bare his feelings. She looked worried, and she could tell her hakaijin friend really needed this. She walked over to him and sat down next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder as he began. She was surprised to hear that he was scared, she put a whole lot of stock into what she could sense, and detected on the scouter that she'd somewhat forgotten that he seemed really young just like her. The surprise that she motivated him to come up the mountain too was another bit of shock. When he finished she pondered to herself what she should do. She didn't think of many things really, she more or less debated the two actions she could take. She could take it in stride and try to be a rock for him, or... She sighed, and felt it was more important to be earnest.
"I uh..." She started, trying to find the words she could think of- only quitting when she realized trying to find words wasn't going to help. "I'm pretty scared too..." She admitted. "I had no clue the mountain was going to be this crazy... and, well... I'm worried about continuing up because getting less air the further up we go is terrifying for me. Every time my blood starts to really pump and boil, and I have the feeling 'YES THIS IS SO MUCH FUN' I get this- squeezing in my chest and it gets harder to breathe... and recently- I actually think I had a heart attack heading to south city by running near a hundred miles to there within a few hours. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't think properly... It was terrifying" She began to pause as she felt the sheer terror of the moment start to overwhelm her, she started shivering, and when she continued again it felt like she was really close to the brink of sobbing. "but... I have to meet my sister again, I haven't seen her in 14 years... 14 whole years cause she left home when she was 15... I don't even know why she left, my mom and dad wouldn't tell me anything" She hiccuped slightly, her young age showing as she started feeling overwhelmed with emotion. She was just an 18 year old, doing her best to be the strong person she believed her sister was. "But... I'm still glad i've gone through all this, cause... well i've got to meet you, and Garruk, Hazel, Draft- I'm really lucky...!" She wiped her eyes that had teared up slightly. She turned and without much warning, she wrapped her arms around the small hakaijin, not breaking down but earnestly showing her appreciation for the hakaijin's comfort, and wonderfully caring personality. When she felt herself coming back together, she sniffled a bit, and pulled back, wiping her eyes again- this time with a look that showed she was feeling so much better than before. "I'm ready to go now, and yeah it'd be nice if you took the lead this time, let's get this goin', let's make it to the top Whisker!" She said, feeling good enough to even cheer the both of them on.

Whisker's PL: 48,000
Whisker listened attentively to Kabo's own fears, getting teary-eyed just as she did over the course of her explanation. This was obviously very hard for her, and Whisker understand and felt her feelings as his own. When she hugged him, trying her best not to break down into full-blown bawling, Whisker couldn't help but to wrap his tiny, very fluffy arms around her to try and comfort her. Amidst the hug was also a gentle purr, something he often did when he wanted to comfort someone or when he slept. Then he realized that one of those names, he knew personally. "Wait... you know Hazel? I met her not long ago! She's really cool and training real hard, just like us! If not for us, or the people we're closest to, then for our friends we must keep going!" His huge smile lit up the cave as he spoke, then when he stood and dusted himself off, he put his thumb up resolutely. "We're gonna find your sister and train while we do it! I won't stop helping you until we find her or... you know, you wanna stop travelling with me hehe!" Embarrassed a bit by his own oversight, Whisker finished his packing and put his blanket over him. He quickly and tightly retied the rope to the both of them and took the lead this time as they began their climb to the top of the mountain with renewed vigor. With his fear behind him and a friend there with him to share the burden of climbing, they were making much better progress than they were before. It wasn't easy by any means, but his refusal to let his new friend Kabo down kept him going strong! When they got to the last quarter of the climb, the winds picked up again, but heat and cold had died down. Replacing them instead was a thunderstorm that raged above them, sending rain and lightning flickering all around them. This had to be the most dangerous part of the climb, as the rocks became slick and smaller, which while it didn't affect Whisker with his claws and small paws, it would surely have a negative impact on Kabo's climbing experience. Whisker gritted his teeth and held on tight, feeling carefully for if Kabo needed any help at all. He was ready at a moments notice to leap to help her or, if worst comes to pass, transform and get them both to the top even if it meant he passed out in the process. "Are you okay Kabo? The storm is getting really rough! Do you want to find a place to take a break?" Whisker called down. Even if she didn't want to admit it, Whisker wanted to make sure Kabo was going to be okay. The weight on his chest had made it harder to breathe so high up, but he wasn't about to stop now! He had to do this for Kabo! They were friends now and friends don't let friends down!

Kabocha appreciated Whisker's help with calming her down after her breakdown had hit it's peak. The fluffy comforting purrin' hug did wonders to help steel her up, it gave her a moment of reprieve. She nodded when whisker exclaimed about Hazel, having known her, and an encouragement to continue on for their sakes. She smiled and nodded "yeah, Hazel absolutely looks really cool!" she says, cheering up as she stood back up and stretched. On the mention of finding her sister no matter what, she smiled gently to the small hakaijin "Absolutely, and that's fair, but I don't think i'd dislike adventuring with you Whisker, you're an incredibly strong, kind friend!" she complimented. When they got back to it, the knowledge that both of them were going to go all out to make it to the top renewed her sense of strength. The squeezing in her chest- of course, would return- but it took much longer before it became a problem. When it finally did, it had started to thunder, flash with lightning, and the rain was starting to impede her. Though... she could feel something... deep down in her core, something burning. a fire deep in her gut as they climbed against what seemed like insurmountable odds for someone like Kabocha. She shook her head, and gripped tighter on the rock, and actually found it was getting easier to hold onto.
"Nope! I'm fine, we've got this! Actually I'm feeling great!" she said, fairly 2/3 true. She was starting to lose feeling of discomfort and couldn't feel anything other than great as her senses started to drift into a flurry of adrenaline and excitement to see the top of the mountain. It actually wouldn't be long before Kabocha's pace started to ease the pressure on Whisker's chest. She didn't notice the growing tightening in her chest though. The most telling thing was that she felt her own strength grow by the moment, growing by digits of ones, but considering her initial power, this was an incredible change. The factor she had been so terrified of, had been slipping more, and more- and it was all thanks to the words of kindness and encouragement of the Hakaijin.

Whisker's PL: 48,000
Whisker climbed his way up the mountain, the rain beating down on him harder than ever. There were several moments where the lightning struck the rocks beside or above him, sending the entire mountainside a massive shock, enough to shake the two of them quite hard. With Whisker and Kabo holding on tightly, to the rocks, they managed to hold on until the shaking stopped. The higher the climbed, the worse the weather got, but still they persisted! Whisker knew they had to be closing in on the top of the mountain because they had pierced the cloud layer and were still making their way up! The air was thin, it was hard to see, and the air was filled with static. Whisker's hair stood on end involuntarily as they continued to climb. It was when the edge of the cliff that marked the top of the mountain made itself vaguely visible that the most dangerous part of all appeared. What looked like a super charged cloud neared the two of them ominously, threatening to unleash hell on them if they continued up the mountainside. Whisker, having seen this cloud closing in, furrowed his brow and clung to the wall even harder, picking up the pace in an attempt to close the gap before the cloud could get there. While he might have been able to on his own, with Kabo just behind him, there was no way he could have made it there in time. Instead, he steeled himself, thinking the cloud might strike one of them with lightning at any given moment. He was prepared for that much... Instead, what he got was a kick in the gut when a massive bolt of lightning struck a boulder above them, sending it careening over the edge with criminal intent. If whisker did nothing, the both of them would wind up at the bottom of the mountain... if they even survived the fall. "Hold on to the cliff side and don't let go!" Whisker yelled down to Kabo, waiting only a moment before cutting the rope between them and flying close to the mountain to stabilize himself. The winds were strong enough that they could easily blow him away if they desired, but using his back paws to cling to the cliff, the tiny cat clung to the wall and started gathering his Ki into his palms. It took moments, but it felt like ages that passed as the massive boulder tumbled down toward them. In the moments before it could hit them, Whisker's entire body filled with Ki as he launched himself up toward the boulder, using the cliff face as his ground, and punched the boulder with enough force that it stopped dead in its tracks. For a few seconds, the world seemingly stood completely still. The rain froze in place. The lightning no long struck. Even the thunder remained silent. And at the end of it all, the boulder in front of Whisker shattered into pieces, sending a rain of debris everywhere but where he and Kabocha were climbing. Having used up much of his energy, Whisker started to fall back down the mountain, slightly unconscious before snapping back awake and catching himself mid air right above Kabo. This journey had exhausted him, and with the large amount of Ki he had just used, he was nearing his limit. Managing the last of his strength, he led the two of them up the mountain and through the cloud layer to the top. When they did finally climb over the edge, Whisker dropped all of his supplies and laid down on his back, breathing heavily and near to unconscious. "We... We made it! Whoooo! We made it to the top!" Whisker's weak cheers and giggles could put a smile on just about everyone's face. Against all odds, the two had made it to the top! That was a feat anyone should be proud of.

Kabocha's growth in power, albeit still slight, was halted as she saw the lighting strike and the boulder before her. It jarred her out of her excitement immediately. Whisker's shouted warning knocked her back into sense, and she clung tightly to the side of the mountain. Unfortunately, being jarred out of her adrenaline stupor reminded her of the fact that she was hardly able to breathe. It was do or die for her to trust in whisker's strength, or fling herself towards the relative safety of the cave, even if it did shatter her bones. She remained steadfast however- She knew her friend wouldn't ditch her, she trusted him- and her trust was rewarded as she watched the Fluffy cat launched at the rock like a glorious fuzzy rocket, and absolutely SMASH the boulder into bits and pieces. Her eyes widened, and her surprise was only complimented by the single thought in her brain [HOLY CRAP THAT WAS COOL. I WANT TO DO THAT!!] Her shock didn't stop there, though- it hardly ever did. She was worried to see the young cat in freefall, and was ready to reach out and catch him by any means necessary, though thankfully he caught himself just above kabocha. She continued with him, fighting against losing the last of her strength, and being ready at a moment's notice to intercept the hakaijin if he looked like he was going to slip again, but the feeling of the topping out of the summit gave her, and him one last push to pull their sorry cadavers onto the stone, near unconscious the both of them.
"I'm...! Getting...! Way...! Too...! Used...! To...! Anaerobic...! Exercise!.... Oh gods this is awful...!" she was mouth wide open, gasping for all the air she could fill into her lungs. The sight would probably look exceptionally silly, like a fish out of water trying to breathe the best it could. "We...! Did it!" She cheered along with whisker, their weak cheers joining together in a victorious harmony.
It took her quite a while to recover, especially since above the cloud layer, there was going to be less, and less air, but! When she was finally able to sit up, she looks around. The summit was- actually really expansive, when she thought of searching up here, she thought it would be a quick look but- well given how massive the mountain was- it actually made a weird kind of sense that their work wasn't done. She stood up and stumbled a bit as she felt dizzy "Oh jeez... that's right, not a lot of air..." She shook her head and looked to the hakaijin. "You okay whisker? Do you need any help? That was crazy! You literally punched a boulder into dust!"

Whisker's PL: 48,000
Whisker slowed his breathing, allowing deep breaths in and out. Because of how thing the air was, it was clear they would need to take things slowly from here on out, which meant taking plenty of time to rest so as not to exhaust their air supply. As he stood slowly, the fatigue from the climb weighed on his body and he fell back to one knee before getting up again. "We need... to take it easy from here on. If we're going to search for your sister, we'll need to be at the top of our game. I think we need... to rest for a bit before we continue." His breathing slowed down to normal eventually, yet his body could go no further. Instead of letting his body collapse, Whisker sat himself down next to his bag, allowing it to keep him upright as he rested. "Besides... I can't walk another step right now. Punching boulders took up a lot of my Ki, and I was already low on energy... Do you mind if we set up camp here? At least that way, when we DO go looking for your sister, we'll have a point of reference! And if she finds this here, she might stay around it or look for its owner!"Truth be told, Whisker was more exhausted than he looked. He kept himself looking strong for the sake of Kabo, but if he didn't get some true rest soon, his body would force him to, and it wouldn't wait for a good time to do it. He was strong physically, but he was still a small bundle of fur that used a lot of energy up constantly. Perhaps it was just that because of his new power, he wasn't able to fully control his Ki output, which meant that he was wasting Ki constantly. If he didn't take the time to recharge it, it could become unstable or dangerous when he needed it. With all of his training, the one thing he hadn't done was focus on sustaining his Ki for a long time. Most of the combat he's faced has been short and relied entirely on who could produce the most power in the moment. If he didn't work on his stamina, it could mean big trouble for the future. His supplies were soaked, including the tent he brought along to set up when they got here. The proximity to the sun and how high it is above sea level would allow it to dry faster, but it was also quite cold up here. If they didn't dry the blankets, they could both catch a cold, and with nobody around to help and no medicine available, it could quickly turn deadly. Whisker took off his blanket and cloak, set up a makeshift drying rack, and placed them upon it before beginning to set up his tent. "I would recommend drying your stuff as soon as possible Kabo, We can't afford to get sick up here!" He flashed a small, strained smile at Kabocha, trying his best to last as long as possible. It wouldn't be long now until he was unconscious from exhaustion, but he had to fight it off! For Kabo!

Kabocha nodded in response to the Cat's request. She absolutely agreed, the trip was... well rough was a very kind way of putting it. "I'll set up camp alright, you just rest as much as you can, alright?" She turned and walked about the summit, looking for anything that she could see that could make somewhat good kindling. She doubted she'd be able to find any trees this high up- but if someone had climbed up here before, as long as the wind didn't pick up all the way up here, they should be fine. and what luck she was able to find a abandoned burnt bundle for a campfire. She nearly tripped jogging over to the burnt remains. It wasn't going to be great, but- the remains should hold up a fire for a little bit- at least enough to dry their clothes. She brought her hand to the remains and recoiled in shock. "Damn... it's still hot- why did I do that!" she waved her hand in the air, thankful that the cold air was cooling her hand off... wait...
She jumped back and looked around for any immediate signs of life. Nothing... but... With the cold, and how recent the wood was... [OH MY GOD, YES! YES YES YES!] She screamed excitedly in her head. She grabbed the wood from it's still slightly fresh base and beared through the mild uncomfortable warmth it was still radiating. She jogged back to the camp, and was about to shout excitedly that she had found, when she noticed her friend very clearly in not good condition. She bit her lip as she debated in her head [He's so exhausted.../we're so close!/ He saved my life.../just a few more steps, that's all!/ ... / ...?!] She sighed and walked closer to the camp and set down the wood underneath the drying rack with a gentle smile on her face. "Hey, I got some fire wood, someone's been here- but it's a bit older, so we've got a lot of time to kill" She lied, reaching back and pulling a lighter from her pocket, and lighting the fire. [He's my friend] She thought, finalizing her answer. She might miss her sister for a few more days, but whisker was now a buddy, her friend- and he needed help too, just as much as she needed his help. "The fire will heat from the bottom which'll make a current of heated air so it'll dry it a bit faster" She smiled at her cat buddy and sat down next to the fire and whisker after pulling off her weighted gear that was soaked through. Thankfully she had the luxury of her turtleneck being fairly dry, and under workout shorts under her shorts, so she could dry one set while wearing the other. Good thinking! but it would have been bad even still if they hadn't set up a fire and drying rack for the extra clothes, as they would have soaked though eventually. When whisker managed to finish setting up the tent, she patted the ground next to her looking to him "C'mon, fire's warm and it feels great!"
