NAME: Curie (Pun: Curator)
ALIASES: Discordia, Goddess of Strife
SPECIES: Shinjin
AGE: Two-Hundred and Twenty-one
GENDER: Female
STARTING PLANET: Otherworld
APPEARANCE: Curie is a Shinjin of abnormally tall height, coming in at roughly six feet, a strange phenomenon among the wild variations of rotund and lanky Kais. Her other features are typical of mystical race, sporting an otherworldly soft pinkish hue to her skin, flowing puffs of white curly hair, and piercing cerulean eyes. Her ears are long and pointed as most Shinjin's are, a pair of green inactive Potara attached to them. Her attire consists of a purple sleeveless turtleneck, baggy pants, and black Boots. She also dons the typical formal 'robe' of the Kais in a black and silver coloration, but it most often kept unbuttoned and hangs around her torso, leaving Curie's upper body exposed.
PERSONALITY: Curie is seemingly a deviant, hypocritical Shinjin. While she still considers herself to be divinity by birth, her perceived role is less about lording that position over others and more doing something with it that no others could possibly do. This creates a confusing mix of haughtiness and humbleness that freely intermingle broadly across her personality. More than capable of forming interpersonal connections, that is caring for and genuinely liking others, Curie sees the masses of people as mere numbers. She believes that the gears of Otherworld and the balance between Good and Evil have shifted in a dangerous towards the side of light, and if not restored by properly balancing it with death and negative energy, an even worse outcome could arise. Seeing her kin as idle and uncaring of the galaxy's true plight, Curie has taken it upon herself to find a way to restore balance. The concept of 'evil' as it were holds no negative connotations to her, murder and theft won't make the Shinjin bat an eye unless it affects her or someone she directly cares about. This means she is perfectly capable of acting pleasantly and without malice one second, and switching to a ruthless and cold-blooded killer the next if she determines it necessary.
BACKGROUND: Like every other Shinjin ever born, Curie's journey starts as a fruit upon the World Tree deep within Otherworld. Hers was a perfectly normal growth, set happily in the middle row of branches alongside several other multicolored Kais in the making. From her birth, Curie seemed set to follow the status quo of her kin. Pomp and circumstance often led to the ever-repeating cycle of Shinjin's detachment from the lives of mortals entirely, content with watching their struggles upon a screen. Yet Curie was given a job that many other Kai did not have, one of a soul watcher. For hundreds of years, she sat obediently as spirits of all kinds - good and bad, suffering and at peace, human and alien, passed by. This was the natural order of things to keep the universe running smoothly, and the experience greatly desensitized her to the concept of death as a whole.
Eras of peace were not uncommon, the streams of souls slowing to a trickle as the galaxy rested from a period of strife. This, too, was natural, yet more and more often the Dragon Balls were used to shamelessly commit cosmic sins. Souls were ripped from their proper place in Otherworld, and most of the time they were solely ones considered 'good'. The villainous, those naturally attuned to negative energy, were trapped as normal. They expired, recycled, and were born anew according to the whims of fate. Yet that only left a surplus of positive energy. Slowly but surely it grew and grew and grew until the Shinjin couldn't handle witnessing the imbalance any longer. The self-proclaimed righteous and heroic of the mortal realms were defying the will of the Gods themselves, thinking their actions merited the circumvention of nature.
Her pleas fell on deaf ears, the other Shinjin nonplussed by the ordeal. She hadn't even the power to selectively restore life to evil souls, lest she is threatened with retribution from both the Kais and the Ogre King, the retribution that couldn't be executed upon the Eternal Dragons and their wish makers. And so one day, Curie decided to take matters into her own hands. If the other Gods wouldn't do their duties as the galaxy's guardians, she would step in. Curie knew she was weak, inconsequential compared to the Galaxy's mightiest. Yet it did not deter her from her mission. One way or another, the Shinjin would restore the balance of the universe to its proper state of a revolving door, the morality and ethics of mortals be damned.
TECHNIQUES - (Two extra starting slots from Shinjin Racial)
Ameliorate (SIG): Either upon physical contact or touch via an gentle energy wave, Curie is capable of her natural powers of creation and nourishment, restoring vim and vigor to the target with a magical influx. This heals them for 100% OR 200% of their total PL at the cost of 1 or 2 KP respectively.
Magic Materialization (UT): Naturally gifted, Curie can use her talents as a Shinjin to bend magic and matter to her whim, shaping objects from seemingly thin air. It is not a free ability, however, and repeated use will tire her out.
Godly Sense (UT): Curie can naturally sense the energy of living beings to deduce their power levels, though androids are immune to this.
