NAME: Dr. Sycamore
SPECIES: Android (Formerly Calamarian)
AGE: Twenty-Six
GENDER: Male
STARTING PLANET: Beppa Danger Zone
APPEARANCE: Sycamore can assume the form of either a roughly hand-sized robotic arachnid or stretch and twist to form wearable 'augments' upon another living being.

BACKGROUND: A gifted prodigy from birth, Sycamore never truly fit in with his own native species. While the Calarmarians settled for stagnation - both culturally and technologically - the rest of the galaxy grew ever stronger. The scientist resented his species' own distaste for attempting to grow more powerful and their reluctance to use cybernetics, a path that Sycamore was convinced of its validity. He became something of a pariah, seen as both too arrogant and ambitious to be trusted or befriended. Undeterred the Alien worked alone, dedicated to his pursuit of science and the field of robotics. Eventually, his research came to a grinding stop, a wall of biology standing between him and the results he craved. He began to use less-than-willing subjects for participation in his experiments - which oft ended in their deaths. Sycamore was no remorseless killer, though, and each and every death pained his heart to watch unfold - but in his eyes, the ends would justify the means.
The path to complete augmentation was so close. The opportunity to live in a stronger, ageless form was a tantalizing one. Years had passed, and eventually, his people discovered the true nature of his depravity. With righteous fury, he was put to the blade, struck own in his prime... or so it would seem. An incomplete project, built to house a soul of lesser caliber, became his new shell. It was clunky, it was painful, it was far less useful than even his original form. Yet he was still alive... even after death. Gathering what research and projects he could in his limited capacity, the newly christened android made his way off his home planet, a vagabond to the stars. Without an assistant to aid him, both for protection and practical work, Sycamore was essentially stuck. Yet who would willingly work with a crazy robotic spider? He found his answer in the underbelly of Knutts.
The station, still a pirate and criminal infested haven at the time, was a cruel mistress. His own 'home' in the ventilation maintenance shafts wasn't ideal, but the android made do. A chance opportunity happened one day when Sycamore was skittering about in the vents as usual. A Heran child, abandoned by her family and now her own criminal group, had been left for dead. It wasn't a rare sight on the cutthroat space station, but yet he couldn't help but feel sorry for the child. The life had almost fully faded from her eyes, consciousness gone as the blood continued to pool from her chest. Over the process of a few hours, dragging parts and pieces from his own hiding place, Sycamore saved her. In place of her damaged heart, a shining new core was installed. And when she awoke, confusion evident in her eyes, a bond was forged that would last through trials and tribulations.
Rangda was her name, and after her recovery, her fire returned. Even though she was reliant on Sycamore for the upkeep of the core keeping her alive, she didn't let such a fact keep her down. Sycamore was still a friend, close to family, and the reactor was a mere byproduct of his continued kindness. In turn, Rangda evolved from a mere convenient set of hands to a true friend as well. She didn't mock or shun him for his eccentricities, despite sometimes not quite understanding them. They became a drifting duo together, the Heran's jacket stuffed full of capsuled bits and bobbles from Sycamore's whenever they made the next leap. And, as it stands, they just so happened to be laying low on Knutts - Rangda taking up a job as a scrapper to earn as much money as she could to continue funding their lifestyle. Yet all was not right on the normally isolated planet...

TECHNIQUES -
Amplification Matrix [SIG]: Deploying an additional projector arm in either of his forms, Sycamore creates a field of specially tuned energy that is synced to Rangda's specific Ki signature. For the next two offensive moves the Heran makes, the power of each is increased by +33%.
