The training session was going smoothly, the setting of a 110 gravity barely effected him at all and he was even thinking of turning it up higher. Going though a few more kicks the Acrosian finally moved to the controls, his eyes going to the small dial with currently set to a hundred and ten times earth's gravity, a mere eleven times vegeta's gravity if he thought about it. Reaching over he gripped the dial and turned it another ten degree's, the small Acrosian's blood going cold as the realization that he felt nothing change. He felt no heavier in fact then he would at the city in fact and perhaps that was why he had felt like it was no challenge the last few days, a perfect reason for his lack power level gain the last few days.
"Computer run a diagnostic on the system and locate malfunction" he ordered, the lights on the ark shimmering as the computer ran the numbers. It would be a long wait as the machine took nearly a half hour to locate the problem, Garruk being forced to step in and start the Diagnostic by hand on more then a few parts due to the machine being unable to locate the problem. However it was soon discovered that the anti gravity matrix was the source of the problem, the power source for the entire ship shorting out on anything more then the basic life support. The repair would be a quick fix the computer had informed him and would be able to talk him though the entire thing process.
"Remove the panel marked thirty seven A, the composite plating should lift easily after the magnetized seals are powered down. After that you should see one power junction C just a few feet form the matrix, please pull it up so you may take a closer look at the junction." The machine droned on stopping after each step to allow Garruk to catch up for the next step, the small Acrosian working quickly. Lifting up junction C Garruk quickly realized the problem even without the machines help, the small orb riddled with cords had broken loose form its position knocking several hookups off. "Visual scans show that the junction must have the cords hooked up again before the gravity system will work again, however before any of the conduits are hooked up again please inspect them for visual damage." It voiced again in the cold dark, the machine pausing again as it let him work and it was not till he was finished that it started up again. " Now place the junction back in its container before hooking up the conduits, once secured safely prepare to hook up the junction once again. At this stage it is unsafe to hook up the conduit to a live junction so the ark will be shutting down now" the voice said before quickly shutting down forcing a cry of panic form Garruk as all went dark. The cold water of the sea rushing in on him as pitch blackness filled his sight.
Hours later Garruk was still frustrated as hell, the small Arcosian angry that the Ark did not warn him ahead of time of the power shut off. Still he was in luck that his Arcosian body was easily able to live survive the depths of the ocean, his scouter able to inform him the direction of the surface. With those two assists Garruk had managed to pull the ark though the water to the surface, the small lord placing it on land to finish his repairs in the light or at least the light of the stars. After that it had taken no time at all to get the machine in running order and now he was back under the water ready to try again. Reaching over to the dial he slowly turned it up again, each click of the dial increasing the gravity by ten until he was back at his goal of a 11 times Vegeta's gravity. This time he felt it for sure as he did a few stretches to test the effects, his muscles protesting the sudden strain of the increased gravity.
With the stretches Garruk decided that a small warm up was required after his down time working on fixing the ark, the time mostly spent on his knees going over the wires for the junction manually. With a warm up in mind the small Arcosian went though his basic kata slowly, his body going though his attacks purely based of muscle memory. It was not until after the second round of the work out that he allowed himself to go faster, each kick and punch sending shock waves into the nearby water as he worked his body to make up for the lost time. By the end of the short work out his body was a flurry of punches and kicks, his attacks all set up to allow him lunch a surprise attack with his tail.
After a good hour or two of the workout Garruk decided it was time for something new, his muscles had long adjusted to the gravity and it was time for something else. He had worked on his shields with his partner but he wanted to try some thing new and this was a good as time as any, the time frame for them was far to short for his liking."Ark please charge the blaster wave" he ordered as the machine began charging the attack, a process that would take quite a bit of time. The ark's power source was not strong enough to create a powerful attack but with several back ups installed it could do it after a lengthy charging process, the ark lighting up brightly as the tell tell sign of a charging cannon fill the ocean.
With the cannon charging Garruk went to working on the shield he needed to create to block it, the small lord gathering his energy around him in a sphere. His concentration keeping all the energy form moving away form him, the sphere glowing a bright purple as he tried to condense it further. With each pulse of ki that left his body he added to the barrier around him, the Small Acro turning the ki into strings of energy to weave around him much like a tapestry. It was by this method the small lord was hoping the barrier would not require his focus to keep going for at least a little bit and the end result was certainly promising. The sphere around him looked quite solid and even with him no longer focusing on it seemed to keep its shape, the energy trying to untie itself so that it could disperse into the air.
With the barrier in place the small lord floated above the ark and prepared block the arks attack, a nagging feeling at the back of his head warning him to be prepared to defend himself in the case the barrier failed. With the signal set the ark fired all the stored up energy at him, a impressive attack for sure for a machine built by his people. However compared the solid ki barrier he had managed to erect around himself it might as well been pointless, the waves of energy bouncing off the shield in nearly every direction. Garruk still held his breath as he watched the shield expecting it to break at any moment, his doubt on the forefront of his mind after many months of failing to figure this ability out. To his surprise it held, the barrier weakening under the pressure of the attack but not falling apart as defected the attack.
"YES!" he roared, his arms throwing them self up as his celebrated some sort of success on his ability. The barrier was far to weak to use in real combat and he still could not do it quick enough to use in combat, however it was a start and with some practice it would not be long till it was a viable move on his part. With this set up it would not be long till he could defend and attack at the same time, a scenario he was sure that would come up many times the battles to come.
For now he needed to work on the speed of its creation, the weaving of his ki taking far to long in its current state to be of much use. With that said he started to create the barrier as before but this time in much smaller size, the size allowing him to do more practice due the fact it used so much less energy. It would not be long till the ark was filled with small barriers of varying strength and states of mastery, many of the barriers failing to form at all due to his efforts to create them faster then before. He would be at this for some time he felt, however he sure he could master it form here with only a short amount of training required.
With his return home he quickly ordered the engineers to go over the ark design again in order to prevent more malfunctions, their new task to make sure it never happened again. He could not afford to lose so much of his training time to fixing the machine again, he needed to get stronger if he planed to protect anyone. His people needed him to be strong enough for the earth to want him as a ally, a fighter on their side worth negotiating with. After that he could rest easy for a time and allow his people to settle the earth like he planed, a home away form the Saiyan control home planet and the twisted world trade fleet. A place that they could learn to be the hero's that they should have been all along, a place that they had to work to be every ones equal's and not simply their betters. It would be a process though and might even take a few generations before anything came of it, the current population was very set in their ways. Their future was with their children, a generation born without privilege their parents had grown up with.
With the though of their children going though his head Garruk wondered about their own eggs, the two where the efforts of him and Friest trying consummate their marriage. Still it was odd that he often felt the urge to go and simply watch the two eggs in the incubators, the time passing quickly as he simply stared at the two eggs. Perhaps it was just his instincts but he seemed to enjoy those thoughtless times, a reminder of what he fought for. The future was looking bright indeed for his family and his people, with a smile on his face Garruk retired to the incubation rooms.
