The sun unveiled the night once again in the Sleepy East; one day like may others, albeit different. The smell of fresh food can already be detected all around the continent, or so you would believe so. This day was the first Harvest Festival of the year, a celebration of crops, cooking, amusement and all the little things that makes the world a happy place! All across the continent, there were huge grouds occupied for the festival with enough food, entertainement and friendly people to last the whole day! This is how this day started, an interesting one at that!
Even if he usually gets up with the sun, Vangreth realized from the start that somethind was different; while he was used to see farmers around when he started his training routine, now there was just everyone up already! Children sheepishly following their parents, crates being moved and the smell, what could possibly be going on today?! The Alien did not wait to see it for himself, he noticed that everyone was heading in the same direction, and not only from the village he was staying in, but from others as well! He hurried in that direction, hoping it was something positive and not some kind of crazy overlord asking for tributes... both seemed just so plausible.
When he finally caught a glance of the fun fair, a smile drew itself on his face as he descended from the sky; today was a cheat day alright! At ground level, the multiple temporary structures set up was impressive, and he did not even notice them the day before! Multiple tent were sheltering food stations, caravans full of toys and prizes for those willing to pay and succesfully pass a skill check and colossal peculiar structure from which a lot of screaming came from, but those could not be mistaken for anything other than enjoyment.
The alien had already seen something similar in his early days on Earth, but not to that scale, and seeing a massive amount of people just running around and having fun was too much to pass!
When Vangreth walked to the entrance, a teenager stopped him politely.
'' That will be an alien entrance? We have a discount for first-timers as well.'' He said in a voice betraying a lot of excitment, he was probably eager to finish his shift and go out there himself. The Muko-Jin also recognized him as one of the oldest kids from home and smiled back at him.
'' Sure! Let me just...'' Vangreth answered, getting the proper amount of zenis out of his pocket and to the youngster, who in return snapped a bracelet around the alien's wrist.
'' Have fun out there Van! ''
'' Sure sounds like a possible outcome!'' Vangreth answered with his typical weird choice of words before heading in.
While he walked amongst the people, Vangreth quickly grabbed himself a cotton candy bar, something he was somewhat familiar with, having also eaten one last time, and began to wander around, observing around for the interesting phenomena that took place all around him.

When people think of the life of a wandering vagabond, they usually picture dusty roads, lonely treks through the wilderness, and a distinct shortage of hygiene facilities. To be honest, that was mostly accurate. However, there are some fringe benefits, too. For instance: You get to see all kinds of new things and people you never would have if you were tied down to one place! This was the thought Lao had in mind as he weaved his way through the crowds at the local Harvest Festival, apparently an eastern tradition. He had never been out east this time of year, and now he was regretting not stopping by sooner! With some kind of grilled meat on a stick in each hand, he took in the atmosphere of the crowded festival grounds. There were crowds of people in all directions, surging towards various amusements and attractions. Somewhere off in the distance, a band was playing raucous music to the cheers of an enthusiastic (and slightly drunk) crowd.
As he wandered through the maze of stalls and booths, one immediately caught Lao's eye. The sign proclaimed "Test your strength! Only 5 zeni!" in big letters, promising a prize if you could hit some sort of machine hard enough with a hammer to ring a bell at the top of the contraption. Not one to pass up an offer to test his strength, Lao stepped up to the plate with a slightly mad gleam in his eyes, hefting the mallet over his shoulder and preparing to strike...
CLANG! The deafening crash of steel striking a bell rang out across the festival grounds, only mildly drowned out by the roar of the crowds. At the source of the disturbance, an ecstatic Lao, struggling to manage both his array of grilled meats and the massive plushie dragon toy he had just won. Its green, snakelike tail dragged along on the ground behind him as he left behind a rather defeated-looking carnie holding a seriously mangled hammer. "This festival is great!"

Garruk had never been one for to enjoy party's or large events in the past, the politics at a Arcosian party allowed for very little fun and games. No those parties were filled with honeyed words that hid the malice each lord had for each other, each of them plotting to further their position at any cost. So when Friest had asked Garruk to join him for a the Harvest Festival he had assumed it was in order to create a few back room deals or to use Garruks title to change the mind of some Arcosian noble. What he had not expected was to leave Brumal city and head into a human occupied area to enjoy a small festival, the many tents and structures promising no end of amusements for all that entered.
"All right one adult and one kid ticket?" Asked the teenager, his eyes going to Garruk when he asked about his ticket. It really was a innocent question by the young adult, his People unused to dealing with his kind the sole reason for him not realizing Garruk's real age. This did little to ease Garruk's irritation however as he let out a scowled, the little aliens staying silent as he tailed swiped back and forth in anger.
This mistaken reaction more often then not amused Friest who simply smiled as he pull amount the correct amount of zenny for two adults, the taller man quickly handing him amount before Garruk said some thing he might regret."Two adults you mean? My husband is quite a bit older then you think" he replied after taking the two bands, his words making teenager stare at Garruk speechless for a moment before he started to spew apologies.
Garruk simply waved him off silently, the small lord not trusting himself enough to say anything out loud at the moment. Heading deeper into the fair both aliens looked around simply taking the sights in, each trying to grasp just how each attraction was meant to be played. Most of them they avoided since they were intended for normal humans to play but a few of them caught their attention as they wondered about aimlessly, their eyes lingering on more then a few as many of the humans simply watched them in return. While aliens where not unknown to the people of earth they still where fairly rare and more so for a Arcosian since they could differ quite a bit form the normal form many races had.
Garruk stopped to watch a attraction for a moment, the small alien unaware of the approaching human carrying his assortment of prizes and goodies.

The whole festival thing was somewhat impressive for the Alien; not only was it something he could never hope to see on him home planet, what with the abundance of food and all of the fun happening, but it was also a few steps up from what he had seen on Earth this past year. There was just this powerful energy, not like ki, but this general feeling of wholesome overall that just felt good! Vangreth himself had not even participated any of the activities so far, he had remained an observer for now, but something in the distance caugh his attention.
As he approached a strange stand, some kind of 'strenght check' thing, he noticed an Earthling dressed much differently from everyone else. A quick glance at his signature confirmed to Vangreth that this one human was much stronger than any of his peers! He stared unsurprised as the man completely obliterated the strenght challenge and laughed at the owner's reaction to it; it seems like people here were still not used to seeing strong people around after all! Vangreth decided to approach the man, who was now wearing his prize with some form of pride, amusing the Muko-Jin.
'' Right? I knew I couldn't be the only person thinking this!'' Was the line he chose to approach the human with, kind of answering his monologue in a way. He would walk beside the human, cotton candy in hand, smiling at him.
'' Saw you win that game, you're pretty strong! My name is Vangreth, or like people usually call me at first ' what the heck are you?', nice to meet you!'' he would simply introduce himself in that manner, as he recalled it having a positive impact last time he introduced himself in that manner, not that it was false anyway.
While walking, he noticed a similar alien face standing ahead. '' Hey! It's virtual reality guy! And I see you're with your child!'' Vangreth said, looking down at Garruk with an innocent smile, what other explanation was there for Fries to be with this small Arcosian anyway? Plenty of human were the same, so Vangreth just associated that concept to Fries.
'' What's your name little buddy? You liking the festival so far? '' Vangreth would ask, though he was not using a particular voice; his usual talking was already childish enough. Turning his head to what they were looking at, Vangreth saw it was a human, no particular signature there, balancing himself on top of a mid-air giant flying lizard with a long nose... and doing flips on it too! Impressive what some Earthlings managed to do without the use of ki!

Lao was so caught up in his post-victory celebration that he almost didn't notice the pale alien coming up alongside him, and introducing themselves. "Oh- uh, hi! I'm Lao, nice ta meetcha, Vangreth." He briefly considered offering a handshake, but the fullness of his hands made that fairly impossible. Lao decided to settle for a friendly wave, which was only slightly diminished by the food clenched in his hand. Now that he examined the strange man more closely, he realized that he couldn't feel any aura coming off of him at all! How weird. He thought, curious how such a thing was even possible. Lao had never encountered a living thing he wasn't able to sense, so it was definitely cause for some concern. He was about to ask about it when Vangreth stopped abruptly to greet another strange pair. Lao's attention was immediately drawn to the short Arcosian- he was incredibly strong! Lao couldn't help but grimace a little when Vangreth greeted the purple fellow as if he was a child, knowing from experience that Arcosians come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, and this one was very clearly too strong to be a child! He just hoped the guy didn't take offense...
"Uh... It's nice ta see so many strong people around lately! I oughta start hitting you guys up for tips..." Lao said, after a pause. Hopefully that would move the conversation away from Vangreth's faux-pas. Plus, Lao couldn't complain if he actually got some tips.

Friest started at Vangreth for a moment, his mind taking a moment to recall him before realization set in. His memories about the awkward alien coming back to him as his face twisted in realization, a small smile forming on his lips about the encounter. The figure next to him however was not someone he knew however, his tattered gi and unkempt face would be a dead give away. For a moment one might think he was a bum living on the street but the healthy amount of power coming form the man suggested otherwise. "Ahh yes Vang.....wait child?" Friest replied, his mind not working quite fast enough for him to stop him form asking Garruk his next question. At the moment he could have face palmed if he was not so worried about what Garruk would do, the small husband of his having a complex about his size. So much so that before he would often only been seen in his second form to at least appear to be big, a habit he had only just recently gotten over.
Garruk had been watching one of the carnival rides with some amusement, the one named the mountain mainly. The roller coaster seemed to make certain earthlings scared and others excited, a clear way to see the daring form the less daring. He supposed with just how weak their race seemed to be it was a exciting thing for them, the current batch of humans screaming as the coaster started another dive down the tracks. It was not until the word child was used that Garruk snapped back to what was happening near him, his eyes scanning the strange alien he could not sense and a equally strange human. The man's gi doing a number on Garruks sensibilities, he was in fact feeding the idea he should give him some money to replace it. However before he could think any further on the matter Vangreth spoke to him directly, the innocent question making Garruk's face quickly change to a scowl of anger.
Just before Garruk could voice his displeasure, the strange human cut in by trying to change the topic. Not content to let it go until Friest placed a hand on his shoulder firmly, a warning that his temper was getting the best of him."....I trained at the bottom of the ocean at 150 times earth's gravity...the pressure of your ocean is a great way to grow stronger." he finally said after a deep breath, his words more to distract himself rather then really explain it to the human.
" Anyways...nice to meet you again Vangreth! Let me introduce my husband Garruk, don't let his small size fool you about his age." Friest finally said after a moment in hopes cluing the child like alien in on his mistake before turning to the human nearby. "ahh forgive me I am Friest mister?" he replied, his hand going out to shake his hand only to stop when he realized the man's hands where full. "ahhh do you need help?" he asked after a moment, his eyes looking at the pile of goods that might fall to the ground at any moment.

The festival seemed to go all well enough! The human named Lao, even though he looked a little savage on the side, turned out to be really nice, just like Vangreth would have believed considering his experience with that kind of people. There was few humans who were actually noticeable in terms of power, and that one was definitively amongst those.
While Vangreth was happy that Fries had not taken too much time to replace him, he could not help but realize his 'child' was looking at him in a way that did not feel very peaceful... that and he realized the 'kid' in front of him had a power level that could possibly rival his own! His slow realization came a little too last however, as Garruk seemed to have bragging to do!
'' Incredible! I've only hit a hundred and twenty myself! As for me, although I am aware you could not be aware of my strenght, I tend to find that fight...! ''
Vangreth would give a quick jab in the air playfully.
'' ... is the best training there is! A little spar this way, a fight to the death with an overlord tyrant who enslaved your whole species every other day, it really keeps you in top shape! Adversity is what brings the strenght out of people if you ask me!''
Of course, Vangreth was exagerating on everything, and it would be obvious in his body language that he was making his own 'training' bigger than it really was.
When Fries introduced Garruk as his husband, Vangreth would turn to the smaller Arcosian, trying not to show too much 'looking down' as he looked back between him and Fries with a bit of a surprised look.
'' Husband? Oh, you must refer to breeding couples! But... I was under the impression both of you were male, is it different for Arcosians or something?''
At this moment, everyone should realize the obvious, being an Alien lost for two hundred years on an isolated planet with just a few of your own kind bent on survival, perhaps the concept of love and dating was lost on him totally. Vangreth's eyes were showing curiosity and innocence though, so there would be little way to misunderstand that his ignorance had nothing to do with malice or hate.
'' Although I most apologize! I should have known better about your age, you radiate with impressive power, enough so to have an interesting spar if anything!''
He would then declare, politely bowing to Garruk in apology.

Lao was relieved that his attempt to change the subject went over well. And he even got some advice, as well! Lao wasn't exactly sure how he would execute any of this advice... but it was the thought that counted. This Vangreth guy sure knows how to say all the wrong things... Lao thought as their conversation continued. Still, he didn't seem to be doing it maliciously, so Lao just chalked it up to cultural differences, or something. When one of the Arcosians turned to address Lao, he was embarrassed by his inability to return his handshake. Thinking fast, Lao said "Ah, no, I'm fine... er, my name is Lao..." before shoving one of the hunks of meat he was carrying into his mouth, freeing a hand to return the handshake. "Nff t' meetch yoo!" he mumbled, his mouth still full of grilled flesh. Chewing as quickly as he could, Lao finished off his food and spit the wooden stick back out. "Always nice ta see new faces! So, what brings ya to the festival?" Lao asked earnestly, leaving the question open to both the pair of arcosians and the mysterious Vangreth.
