NAME: Wright West
ALIASES: Omen (Alias)
SPECIES: Android (Mechanically), Originally/Mainly Human
AGE: Seventeen
GENDER: Male
STARTING PLANET: Earth
APPEARANCE: Despite his 'occupation' and favorite pass-time, Wright takes on the appearance of a stereotypical tropical teen. He sports a sunkissed, freckled complexion, decently tall height, and a lithe yet subtly muscled body. An easygoing smile is generally plastered upon his face, eyes slightly betraying a more evaluating and experienced person hidden beneath the facade of a regular guy. His hair is a short, spiky windswept mess - jutting out from beneath his ears and curving ever-so-slightly in an upward slope. A vibrant and clashing choice of colorful clothing helps him stand out even more in public - lime greens, bright yellows, pinks, jeans, and the cursed combination of socks and sandals when he feels especially annoying. The finishing touch to his outfit is a pair of thick-rimmed opaque sunglasses, a pair of which is carried around no matter his other clothing.
BACKGROUND: If Wright was a betting man, he'd put his chips down on fate being against his happiness from day one. A shame that he doesn't necessarily believe in either gambling or the concept of luck itself; but was oh so privy to the series of cascading misfortunes that plagued him and his family during their formative years. All started well with the union of his parents - his father a renowned (if a bit eccentric) scientist of Capsule Corp., heading cutting-edge developments in the areas of robotics and biology (and more specifically where the two had begun to intertwine). His mother, a professor of mathematics at an esteemed university, forfeited her position due to her decline in health - favoring the option to spend more time as a family woman. There wasn't much to be said about Wright's early years, the boy born after one year of marriage into a loving, stable, and financially secure couple.
His upbringing was modest yet nurturing, always in the embrace of at least his mother if father was pre-occupied with all sorts of potentially revolutionary research. Being around two highly intelligent people lent well to Wright's own development in learning and even quirks/oddities. He was never quite a 'normal' kid when it came to interacting with others his age, but Wright was polite, and his parents were respected, making bullying a seldom occurrence. This picturesque life would soon be shattered by Wright's Mother falling seriously ill, her already fragile health deteriorating even farther as an unknown disease sank hooks into the woman. No amount of science or prayers helped, and at age eleven, Wright lost his mother -w matching her final moments in pain upon a hospital bed.
The already quiet and reserved boy withdrew into his shell even further, turning to the constant use of technology to distract himself from his grief. His father fared slightly better, the man dedicating himself to ensuring that his son at least had the chance to lead a fulfilling life. Yet at age fifteen, Wright had fallen ill as well - the boy beginning to succumb to the same incurable plague that had taken his mother from him. His father was frantic, pouring everything he could into finding a way to delay or cure his ailing child, but to no avail. Frail and white as a sheet, Wright spent what he thought to be his last days mindlessly droning away on a keyboard, bitter about his own impending death. To the boy's horror, his father had also contracted the illness at some point, and the constant stress and pressure of endless work to find a remedy was accelerating his own death.
With both on the brink of death, all looked hopeless... until his father tried a last-ditch attempt. With Wright's reluctant consent (dragged out of him by his tear-filled groveling dad), an experimental procedure was performed. One moment, Wright's eyes closed... and the next time he had woken up, his father had passed on. In a sheer bid of desperation, an operation to replace Wright's very own heart with a fusion of biotech had succeeded, flushing out his tainted blood and curing him entirely. Left with a large inheritance and large amounts of independence from the government (provided he check in weekly with an 'advisor'), Wright re-immersed himself in the world of computers, code, and networks.
Despite his life being saved, Wright only grew apathetic to others, still immeasurable vitriolic over the deaths of his parents and his prolonged existence being made possible only by an uncomfortable implant in his chest. Besides, it was so much easier to distance himself from his actions online - as if what he did there was detached entirely from reality. There he became Omen, a hacker that started smaller but gained notoriety quickly over his relentless pursuit for information. Wright mostly stole sensitive secrets from companies for the hell of it (and money when needed), but this escapade had a secondary goal. His father's old documents and laboratory had been entirely stonewalled since the man's death, and any of Wright's attempts to retrieve it were denied.
Frustrated but knowing he didn't quite have the skills to do anything about it, the boy set about bettering himself in the field of data cracking. These smaller companies and their secrets were nothing but practice and endless sea of faceless corporations and nobodies that served only to hone his hacking prowess so that he might one day finally crack Capsule Corp. wide open and retrieve what rightfully belonged to him. If his endless curiosity trampled on privacy or some people's information got leaked along the way... why should he care?
**There is additional information regarding Wright's backstory around the same timeframe as the blue text that I'd prefer for admin-eyes only! (for now).
