Bellatrix stared out from a bridge in East City towards the farmlands out in the rural edge of the city. She leaned against the railing on the side of the bridge and sighed. She was running low on money, but she needed a place to stay. Getting food wasn't a problem since she could always go picking for various plant based sustenance out in the wilderness. Earth's plants were probably really different from the moon she came from, but it had to be edible, at least, right? The well dressed female Lunarian didn't like the idea of building a shelter out of mud and sticks in the wilds if she could keep from it, though. It's not that she was prissy or against doing what needed to be done. She just... wasn't content with living like a hermit. For people to see her inner light she needed to be around them, and she couldn't do that if she had to survive in the woods like a nomad or a recluse.
Standing around staring out at the farmlands nearby with an annoyed expression wasn't going to change anything, though. Bellatrix adjusted the sleeves of her dress-like robe and turned around to face the street on the bridge. Cars were floating by back and forth. She started to head down the sidwalk towards the center of the city, but in truth Bellatrix had no clue where she needed to go to find long term employment or long term housing. This planet's customs were foreign to her in many ways, and the way their societal structure functioned with monetary power and earning wages was confusing and backwards to someone who always worked for the benefit of her people. Still the vibrantly dressed Lunarian strolled down the street with purpose and confidence as if she knew exactly what to do and where to go. The light would eventually get her there... she hoped.

Thread's Pl: 144,000 / Anti-Sense: Active
It was a regular day in East City, and even for someone as strange as Vangreth, sometimes, regular days were just that... however, they were rarely without at least one strange encounter, and today was no different. While the alien was carrying his groceries, well, he was carrying his grocery capsule after going to the east markey, which provided the best fruits and vegetables on Earth, he came across a unique sight...
While at first glance, this alien was very similar to a regular Earthling, there was a detail or two that seemed to indicate the contrary. For one, tine antenas on the top of their head, which he could only compare to namekian's.
A quick sense at her energy revealed that, of course, she was a fair cut above the rest in terms of power! While she did not look the part of a warrior, with all the delicacy of her appearance, Vangreth felt compelled to approach her. Perhaps it was because of her beauty? While Vangreth had never really dwelve into these feelings, there was certainly something to be said about her apperance, whether or not he could figure it out was, at least for now, debatable at best.
Without losing anymore time, the muko-jin would approach this mystical humanoid.
'' Excuse-me?''
He would simply say, hoping he could get her to stop her confident walk down the main street. If he actually managed to get her attention, he would show a friendly smile to her. But what was he supposed to say to her? She did not seem to need any help, be in any distress or even look like she was trying to meet people... Why had he done this ?
'' Ahem... I could not help but notice that you seemed relatively new on this planet... having been there before, I thought I could... uh... offer my help.''
Yeah, that WAS the initial reason wasn't it?
There was also this weird thing to it, Vangreth was much taller than her, and failed to recognize that maybe, just maybe, she could see him as a threat, especially since he was not really pacific-looking to begin with... only his smile and the innocence in his eyes could reveal his true nature.

Bellatrix had seen many different species of people since she arrived here. Even among Earthlings alone there seemed to be a wide array of types, but she had also seen a few of extraterrestrial races known throughout the galaxy as well. She didn't recognize them, of course, as she had little experience with them personally. That didn't stop her from being curious, however. Lucky for her, a friendly stranger approached her in this very moment. To the Earthlings he probably did look intimidating, but to the Lunarian he looked as odd, or normal depending on perspective, as any other denizen of this planet.
"Greetings!" When he spoke to her she turned to face him without hesitation. Bellatrix gave him a half bow and a nod as a proper greeting. "You're correct in thinking that. Although it pains me to admit, I am not familiar with the way things are here or where I need to go to find what I am after. I've been here for a few days, but I fear that I will run out of money soon. I was hoping to find some form of employment as well as a long term place to reside until my journey is complete."
It was probably too much information to be giving to a stranger, but the young woman was a bit too naive for her own good. If Vangreth had any ill intent toward her she'd already be right in the palm of his hand. She didn't even try to hide her power or make any kind of deception that she might be holding anything back. In fact, judging from her appearance, one might wonder why someone who looked so petite and frail had such a high energy reserve at all. She truly didn't fit the appearance of a warrior in any sense.

Vangreth's panic and stress went away pretty fast when the lunarian actually answered his question positively, and seemed not to be afraid, freaked out or annoyed by his intervention! However, her following question was a hard one! Although he was not employed himself, he would rather take contracts and fight in tournament to earn his money, but he was aware of the concept, and as far as home were concerned, he was pretty much an expert in the field! He has spent months trying to find a place to call him after all, and the conclusion he had reached could perhaps help Bellatrix?
'' Well, I cannot really help in the employment part of your problem, but I do have a solution for you when it comes to a place to reside.''
Vangreth paused for a moment to pick up something from his pocket, his capsule house.
'' ... Earth makes these neat little things called capsule house. They sell those in each major city, you get to personalize your own house, then they use the capsule technology to fit it in this little thing. From that point, anywhere can be your home if you wish it to be!''
To demonstrate what he was talking about, the muko-jin would turn around and see a park where his house would fit; perfect! He would throw the capsule there after pressing the button, after it hit the ground, a big smoke explosion formed, and out of it came his house! Free and new, like he had left it. Vangreth would motion to his house in a theatrical way.
'' Ta-da~''
He chuckled for a moment.
'' This solved my 'home' problem I had as an alien. There are places in most major city when you can rent land to put your capsule house, but you also can just throw it in a plain, a clearing in the forest or anywhere really, as long as you're not blocking a road or something, then you should get away with it.''
Vangreth was smiling the whole time, he was pretty proud of his little house, even if it was nothing to lose anyone's mind about, it was cosy, clean and modern-looking. Plus, it literally contained everything he would ever need, and it improved his quality of life so much that he would not be able to live without it anymore.
'' Of course, they have other models, and they even let you choose between many type of rooms to put in.''
He concluded with, feeling a little like the sell-person that had actually sold this to him.

She put her hands on her hips while she listened to his explanation. It was a little disappointing that he couldn't give her much direction in the way of employment, but it was a bit silly of her to think a random stranger would come along and solve all of her problems. That would completely defeat the purpose of her journey, anyway! How could she improve herself and make her light brighter if she never had to do anything herself! Still, this was a rather annoying circumstance to be in.
"W-wait...what? You can have an entire house in a little pill? A capsule house... Yes! I suppose having a home that could be temporarily reduced to fit in your pocket could be very useful in a pinch. Shelter anywhere and everywhere you want it! It's customizable, too? That's awfully convenient. These things must be incredibly expensive." The bright blue eyes of the Lunarian were wide with disbelief at the display. An entire home appeared out of a tiny capsule that he'd pulled from his pocket. She didn't understand how it worked in the slightest, but the proof was right here in front of her. She stepped up with an eager, ginger step to touch the building and make certain that it wasn't some sort of illusion.
"I can hardly believe it's real. Such technology doesn't exist on my home planet. These are truly marvelous. If I can ever find a place of work I will certainly save my funds to be able to purchase one." Bellatrix bowed to he tall fellow with a wide smile on her lips.
"Thank you very much for your helpful words. This means that I really only have one problem in need of solving. I'm not sure what sort of work the people of this planet are accustomed to paying for, however, so I couldn't begin to fathom where I might search for employment. I am skilled with a needle and thread, and as far as I can sense...I am far more brilliant than most people here. I do not wish to resort to violence if it can be avoided, though. Do you have any other ideas or recommendations?"
After a moment, Bella slapped her forehead and a blush crossed her cheeks. "Ack! I'm sorry. Forgive my terrible manners. Here I am asking a favor of you when we aren't even properly introduced. My name is Bellatrix Rigel, Lightbringer."

In front of the excitement she was showing in front of his capsule house, Vangreth would not help but chuckle a bit, a light laught, he was sensible to other's feelings after all, and there was a purity to hers which simply felt right to immitate, even though his own appreciation of the capsule house had left this stage for a bit. After she touched the house, probably to confirm that it was not something as silly as an hologram, he would speak up, amused by what had just happened.
'' While it does cost a fair amount of money, it's actually much cheaper than a regular house on Earth. Believe it or not, but this technology has been around for... well... long enough for it to be cheap. For example, I'm using another one of these to keep my groceries safe in my travels. I can't blame you however, this kind of technology is milleniums ahead of where I come from so I was about as surprised as you where when I discovered it.''
He mechanically put his own hand on the house and chuckle; a few months earlier, he was absolutely astonished at the existence of this marvelous thing. Now, it was just part of his reality.
Hearing her out when she spoke of her questions, listing her abilities, and even asking for his aid in figuring out what to do with all of that, he began thinking about it. When she introduced herself, he would smile, but a little bit of jealousy could be detected from his smile.
'' Hey unfair! You have a last name AND a title! That's too cool! ''
He said, fainting being offended before smiling.
'' Just kidding, I am Vangreth. It is a pleasure to meet you Bellatrix! As for recommendations, I do know for a fact that Earth has a HUGE system regarding clothing. So if you're good with a needle and thread, perhaps there would be a way for you to be a part of that system, I heard it pays a huge deal for people skilled enough...''
He nodded in approval of his recommendations, with his limited knowledge, that was about as good of an advice he could give to someone who had such specific talents.
'' But if you don't mind me asking... why Lightbringer? Is it metaphorical, or can you actually do something with light? Or perhaps it is the name of your species? I'm just really curious is all.''
His question, like his tone, was honest; there was no malice to be sensed in this question, but pure curiosity.

The young woman did feel pride in her title. It was self-bestowed, but the visions she had during her coming-of-age rite made it clear that bringing light to stave back the darkness was her purpose. She fully intended to fulfill it, too. His attitude toward her title made her smile and blush faintly. The Lunarian didn't anticipate getting praise from anyone here since she was an outsider.
"It is a long story, but if you do not mind us sitting down somewhere so I can explain it to you fully then I would be happy to explain my title. Lightbringer is something of a self-bestowed title, however. I can provide some proof for my claims, as well. If you'd been around to witness my arrival on this planet you'd already understand a fair bit. I didn't come via ship or pod like I've heard of others using to traverse space."
Bella gave at least a cursory explanation of her title in that she acknowledged it was self-given and that it referred to her abilities just as much as her purpose in life.
"My people are called the Lunarians. We reside on a moon orbiting a giant planet comprised mostly of gas. I would prefer not to divulge my life's story in the middle of a busy street, however. Do you have a more private location we could go to speak of these things? It would be greatly appreciated, please."

It seemed like he had seen at least partly correct and Bellatrix's title was indeed something he could learn about, although he did not expect it to be self-bestowed! Surely, there was a personal reason behind it, but Vangreth was absolutely unaware that one could give himself a title! He would have to try and find himself one, as he lacked the last name. He could not help but notice the red taint on her cheeks, which he could swear was not there prior to their exchange! He had seen that around a lot, but on someone with such pale skin, it was much more obvious.
He listened to her firsthand explanation of her title with care, and got even more curious about her as she mentionned the way she transported to Earth.
'' Oh? Now you got me hooked! I certainly want to hear more about how you transported! '' He said with a little laught. '' I personally arrived in a crash. Never actually got to repair my spaceship now that I think of it... did not stop me from going back though. '' He seemed to be talking half for himself at this point, but when she resumed speaking, he would snap out of it.
She seemed to want to share some story, but not here... hmmm... there were certainly a few places they could discuss.
'' As far as quieter places, we have cafes, there are a few park around where we could sit and talk and there is always my house. I could make use tea in that last one, but I'd understand if you wanted a more public space.''
While he was oblivious to a lot of things, Vangreth had at least a basic in Earthlings culture, and going to someone's house after meeting them in the streets for a few minutes was certainly not recommended.
'' Or we could fly to a rooftop... the view is quite nice up there! Although we have to pick one that is not actively part of someone's propriety or they get angry when they hear noises...''
Whatever she would chose, Vangreth would simply nod in approval.

Bellatrix was more than a little surprised that he had any interest in her, her title, or her abilities. He did stand out a bit from the rest of the people around that she had seen, but she couldn't sense any exceptional radiance from within him. She could barely sense anything at all, in fact. It was almost like that android she met earlier...no light inside them at all. It was cold and a bit unsettling to the Lunarian. As someone raised in a place where everyone was proud to exhibit their inner light and everyone always shone brightly, meeting people who didn't have any luster at all was concerning in more ways than one.
Still, she shoved those thoughts aside. The android had proven at least somewhat helpful earlier, and this fellow was very kind as well, so maybe having light wasn't a criterion for being a good person necessarily. "A rooftop is likely the most convenient unless you are hungry. I do not mind venturing into a nearby cafe if you desire something to eat."
She glanced around rather quickly, then pointed to a parking complex beside a five story medical plaza. "That place seems serviceable as far as I can tell. What do you think?"
She floated into the air slowly. The way she held her arms out to fly made the lengthy sleeves of her kimono seem like wings. The Lunarian rode her energy into the air like a current until she was above the building in question. A graceful landing followed suit, and she let her hands rest at her sides once her feet touched the roof of the building. "There we go. I trust you have no objections? I only hope that our presence doesn't disturb anyone here."

Vangreth agreed when Bellatrix suggested that they use a rooftop to talk; he had brought the idea after all. He began to look around for one that would be suitable and not actively used for any activity of some kind, where they could go have their private talk about the Lunarian's origin.
'' I'm not hungry at the moment, I rarely ever am to be honest. I mostly eat because Earth has sone delightful food around, I don't need it as much as Earthlings, or other races for that matter, do. I find that it does help with my understanding of Earth's society though.''
He said without really filtering what was going on in his head; it happened to him quite a lot and often ended up in him saying unnecessary things when barely asked a question.
When she flew up to the roof of a medical building, he followed immediatly, although his flying was much more rought-looking, he was in control, but he lacked the grace and almost magical way she was doing it, instead focusing on control and efficicency.
'' I don't think so... it seems empty, and well, if it happens to disturb someone, we can always move somewhere else.''
Although the idea of getting in trouble because of rooftop issues was not really interesting, there was just a limited amount of available places.
'' So! About that title! I got to admit, you also picked up my curiosity on your species as a whole. I must say though, if you have questions about my own, I will gladly answer as well... kind of an information trade of some sort?''
He said with a joking tone, although he was being honest about it; his species had some secret, and he expected the question about his energy signature would pop up.

Once he got up to the rooftop, she listened to his words with interest. So his species didn't need to eat nearly as much as an Earthling? She was much the same, in truth. A few pieces of fruit each day or some fruit juice and a couple of pieces is all she really needed. The Lunarian thought the information exchange seemed like a fair trade. She gave him a nod in response to that proposal.
"I suppose since I am the one who teased you with my title it is only fair that I be the one to explain things first. Explaining my title and method of travel sort of go hand in hand, but I'll start from the beginning." Bellatrix slipped her hands into her sleeves so that it appeared her arms were crossed just below her chest. She stared out over the city with a somber expression.
"My people revere our home planet...er...moon... so much that our coming of age rites see us travel deep into the moon's core. There, we use our own inner light to weave a cocoon of silk from our life energy. Within that cocoon we metamorphose into our adult state and gain our wings." She had already used her wings to fly briefly, but even with wings her ki was still required. The wings were primarily a focal point for her ki as far as flight was concerned.
"During our cocooned state most Lunarians have some sort of vision or dream about their true purpose. For me it was more like a nightmare. Ominous and vague, but unpleasant just the same. My vision is part of the reason I took on the title of Lightbringer. An all consuming darkness was washing over the galaxy like the flow of time itself. Slow, but unstoppable and inescapable. Nobody else seemed to understand what I meant when I tried to explain it, but they were supportive of me just the same. So I told them I had to travel and grow my inner light. It's the only way I could stave off the darkness that was coming. Hence the name... Lightbringer."
She still hadn't explained her means of travel yet. Although her people did have special technology that was a combination of Ki and technology using the special ores that existed on her home planet, the technology here on Earth was different enough that she didn't understand it. "Oh! The travel thing...I almost forgot. So, I can become one with rays of light and warp along the shining path. It becomes a swirling pearlescent pillar of light that I follow to a planet's surface. I haven't really found a limit for how far I can travel, and it's way faster than being on a pod or a ship."

As the Lunarian began to tell the story of her people's unique culture and rites, Vangreth could not help but be surprised at how outlandish it sounded, especially since she did not look too far from a regular Earthling! The whole story of cocoon, metamorphosis in relation to their home moon's core was completely unheard of as far as he knew.
The part when she spoke of a great darkness sent Vangreth into a shocked state; last time he had this feeling, someone was talking to him about a race of Demon Gods that destroyed entire clans in the demon realm... something that he had felt back then came back, but right now, he was not busy fighting someone and could actually focus on it. There was something strange, a slight laught he could barely hear in his head... like something deep inside him was reacting to those stories, and he felt deeply creeped out.
When she spoke of her people's travelling method, Vangreth's eyes returned their attention on her with a little glimmer of expectation.
'' Really?! That sounds so cool! You can shoot through the stars in a light beam?! That sounds awesome! I need to try at some point!'' He said, renewed by this amusing news! In the end, it seems both had technology that could impress the other.
'' As for your dream... it might sound a little weird, but I understand what you mean. I've... felt that way before. There is a threat in the universe that only I seem to notice. Ancestors of my people seems to wander the universe and... well... do something I am not exactly sure to planets... something bad is all I know. ''
He looked down for a moment after saying that, his mind was spinning as it was trying to tie everything together; the demon gods, Bellatrix's darkness and his own species... and it all as enough similarities to worry him.
'' But enough about that for now...''
He said that mostly for himself, there was no hiding it.
'' Is there something in particular you would want to know about my kind? I can also give you a general idea of what we are and why, but you never know.''
And with those words, he would wait for her answer. But in the back of his mind, he was still drawing connectings and his fear would grow within him... too much mystery were familiar to him...

His reaction to her explanation of her people and her abilities had her confused. At first he seemed...almost afraid of something. The expression on his face and the look in his eyes was one of someone who had just witnessed some unsettling horror. She couldn't feel his energy more than a tiny blip, however, and so it was hard to get a read on him. Bellatrix sighed, "If I thought I could teach you to do something like it I would try. Your enthusiasm is pleasant. Unfortunately even among my kind, who are naturally attuned to the wavelengths of radiant light, it is an ability that only manifests once or twice in a generation. It's not a technique I can teach. It's an inborn affinity." It was difficult for her to shoot him down when he seemed so excited at the prospect. The Lunarian didn't enjoy stomping on the hopes of others.
"Well, I suppose we could start at the beginning. You mentioned that your ancestors were galactic threats who...did unknown, but seemingly unsavory things to planets, right? Do you have any other information on that? Or any way to elaborate further?" Bellatrix let her arms fall to her sides once more as she glanced over at him curiously. So far Vangreth, despite his unique appearance and near lack of inner light as far as she could sense, seemed to be a fairly pleasant and kind man. It was a very nice change of pace from the rude android she'd met when she first got here. She had been helpful to the Lunarian, but her attitude definitely needed some work. At the very least a little tact might have helped her case. It was said and done now, though, so Bellatrix was trying to focus more on the fellow before her and his stories about his ancestors.

To learn that space travel using beams of light was a unique and rare thing was of no surprise to Vangreth at all, it certainly felt like something that would be of great rarity so it only made sense that it was the case. While he was slightly dissapointed to learn that he had absolutely no chance of learning such a technique, since it was exclusive to her people. However, the alien simply smiled and nodded in understanding.
'' Well, I guess you are just that lucky then! Must be fun to be able to travel the galaxy like that, I envy you a little. Relying in ship doesn't feel even close to be as fun as travelling like you do.''
He was never fond of spaceships... perhaps that was the reason he never got to repair his own, or even buy another one. While he did want to explore the galaxy, spending days back to back in a tiny metal structure in the middle of nowhere just to end up in another planet... was kind of anxiety inducing for him... he could not even stretch his legs properly in most ships, and half the time he took them, they crashed!
When Bellatrix's question came onto him, Vangreth would visibly feel a little uneased... he did not quite remember mentionning that, but hey, he did say she could ask anything and he would answer, he was not going to just go back on his words for something like that.
'' Well... as far as I know, there are people of my kind, only much older, that wanders the galaxy. They seem to be really powerful and the one I met spoke of 'consuming' a planet. I am not exactly sure what it means exactly, but yeah, as far as I know, the ancestors of my people are extremely dangerous on a galatic scale. However, their seem to be a mutual respect of one's territory, as for some reason, my previous encounter with one ended because he did not want to 'steal' Earth from me... I believe I gained some time in that regard I guess, but he might realise I'm not going to do to Earth whatever it is he does to other planet... then it'll probably be my problem...''
That was a lot of information, and Vangreth would not be that surprised if his newly made friend would be afraid of him with that knowledge... he just hoped she would not see him as a potential monster.

"It is sort of enjoyable to be able to travel at such incredible speed. It is also very tiring, however. I can't do it on a whim repeatedly. It takes a day or two to recuperate before I can attempt it again. The intensity is too much for the physical body to handle in extended or frequent, repetitive bursts." She explained this in response to his words about her light traveling capabilities. Although he was right to think it fun, it did still have some downsides. "I haven't tried to bring anyone with me when I do it before, but I have a feeling that it would not work if I tried. It takes all my effort and focus just to bring myself along the radiant waves. Keeping a handle on someone else as well would be...ah... not good."
The words he spoke in response to her question about his ancestors were grave news for her, indeed. His tone hinted to her that he understood just how frightening a possibility it was that one of his supposed ancestors could be seeking to make use of this planet. The potential threat not only to Earth, but to any planet they deemed as 'their territory' was one that Bellatrix could not ignore. However, if they were truly powerful enough to casually threaten an entire planet's existence so freely then they were far beyond the Lunarian's league at her current level of ability. It would take immense meditation, training, and determination to achieve strength necessary to combat such a threat even for a gifted Lunarian like her. Her natural frailty made her curse herself in the back of her mind. Just another hurdle to overcome on her path to spread light to the universe.
Something bothered her, though. Why would he explain to her that one of his kind thinks he is laying claim to this planet? While it did mean Earth was safe from such a threat, the fact that the threat even existed to begin with is an issue on its own. "So your ancestor nearby was interested in this planet, but because you were here they decided to leave your 'territory' alone and keep to themselves? That is a rather fortunate development. It is a very real possibility that you may need to defend your territory eventually, though, isn't it? What will you do if that becomes the case?"
