Thread PL: 18,750 North City. Derry never thought that he would ever return here, at least, not for a couple more years. The Dirty Snakes have always had ambitions of moving beyond just Central City and expanding to the other major cities, but Derry never expected to return now. That's because of the information that Lucas received directly from the boss. Apparently, the Renegades have been a bit busy here in North City, and are looking to take over North City before moving in to bring down the Dirty Snakes. According to Lucas, they've began their operations within a local butchery called "Sam's Prime Meats," and are currently seeking to expand soon. If Derry can take care of this problem before it spreads out of control, then North City will be safe from Renegade control, at least for now.
Derry hoped that this day would never come, and yet, he still felt strangely compelled to come back here, to see "that place" one last time. Above all else, the mission comes first, but to conduct a successful raid on the butchery, he'll need to wait until nightfall, and it's still early in the morning. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that while the cops have been bribed by the gang back in Central City, Derry and the gang have little connection with those from North City, and he was still a wanted criminal. Derry figured that 6 years in between crimes in North City would be enough to get rid of the trace, but he still had to take precautions. Derry was practically forced to avoid any cop he spotted and stick to alleyways and some less populated locations.
Derry's first order of business was to go to that place. Despite the fact that it's been years since he's been in North City, he still knows the way. In the city square, Derry immediately makes his way towards one of the alleyways that head East. There, he managed to stumble across the typical homeless and druggies strewn about, littered with dirt and random scraps of food that they've collected from dumpsters, surrounded by the trash they call their own treasure. A rather familiar sight, even back when he used to live here. It appears, however, that there are actually fewer of these guys around. "Well," Derry muttered quietly to himself as he passed by, "at least the city's gotten a little better." Derry then takes a right turn at the end of the alleyway, and he finally comes face to face with what he's been looking for.
Derry now stares at what appears to be a very old, burnt down building. All of the wood is charred, and all of the stone and concrete have been badly damaged. Most of the structure has collapsed, with only a handful of pieces still remaining in place. The building appeared to have a second floor at one point, but most of it has fallen over time. A badly burnt sign is displayed near the front porch of the building, and the most anyone can make out was, "G**n*y *rian**'s Or**ana*g*e." Most people in the city have probably already forgotten this building's name, but Derry hasn't. It was, after all, his first real home. He recalls Granny Arianna's Orphanage.
Derry approached the orphanage, and took a seat on one of the benches nearby as he continues to reminisce on the old days, back when he was just a little kid, his first family, and how it all spiraled out of control. He was so transfixed on the building that he soon began to zone out, and lost track of the time. All that mattered to him now was remembering the glory days.

Kraktus talk on Knutts had got a lot done but there was still a lot to do. One of those things was getting the human he needed to try to take down Carro. He had been told by Amara that there was a man that was good at taking people down with words. Someone good at smear campaigns. Apparently, he was a human mobster or some sort. To say he was a bit skeptical would be an understatement. Why should he trust a human with such a delicate and important task? Well, he didn't but at the same time, he needed allies. The Stargoons were not enough to take over and then burn away the universe. He'd needed a lot more warriors to arrive at even a chance at the victory he so desired. He didn't know this person was that was until he starting asking around. People tended to answer your questions about those at the top of the gang life when you could read minds and rip a planet in two.
The person he was looking for was Derrick Ottery and he was apart of the Dirty Snakes. He could go and find the boss and explain his job. But Kraktus didn't grovel to humans. Humans groveled to him. He was not going to ask them to work with him he'd make sure they did. So he looked for the human. It was not hard to get information on Derrick. He looked here and there he had learned that the gang was based in Central City but when he went there he didn't find him. So he went to where he had heard the man had been born. North City. So Kraktus headed there to find him. His scouter had been focused on finding decently high power levels as he had heard that Derrick has a reputation of being very powerful even among humans. Finally, after weeks of searching, he found a power that might fit the range he was looking for in the North Blue.
Kraktus landed a few yards away from the power his scouter had picked up. It was at a powerlevel of <18,000> A high powerlevel for a human to be sure. Of course, to him it was nothing, but it didn't mean that power didn't have its use. Afterall, he was not looking for these men because he was a fighter, he was looking for him because he was told e he might be a talker that could work on taking down one of his greatest foes. Kraktus walked over his hands stuffed to his side. Kraktus removed his scouter and slowly and quietly walked to the bench. When he arrived at where Derrick was sitting he leaned down his tendrils covering Derrick's face. "I'm looking for a Derrick Ottoy. You him?" Kraktus looked down at Derrick with cold red eyes, as if trying to read right into Derrick's soul and assert the difference in power between them that Derrick may not realize just yet.

Since Derry was so focused on the remains of the orphanage, he passively blocked out almost any sounds. It was only when he was greeted by several purple tendrils in his face that he even realized someone, or something, else was here. He snaps out of his trance as he looks above him, only to be met with completely red eyes staring directly at him. After being taken aback by such a strange looking being, Derry took a bit of a closer look at what he was actually staring at. The being possessed long, purple tentacles stretching downwards from his face, presumably covering his mouth. The alien also possesses more tendrils that flowed onto the creature's back like hair. Otherwise, the alien was completely bald. Surprisingly, the fact that the alien was purple and had tendrils was nothing in comparison to the eyes staring directly at him, as if he was analyzing him instead. Deep in his gut, Derry guessed that something was certainly up with this... thing.
The alien proceeded to ask if he was Derrick Ottoy. Under normal circumstances, Derry wouldn't just go around giving out his name to people left and right, but he thought it would be a good idea not to piss off the giant purple alien squid. "Woah, uh, yeah, that would be me," Derry replied while standing up from the bench, "And... who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

Kraktus nodded as Derrick said that he was indeed who he assumed he was. If he was not maybe he'd of thrown the human through a few buildings to vent his annoyance. It had taken long enough to find Derrick and he didn't want to keep hunting for a human that may not be useful at all and may not even work with him. Afterall, what he was asking for was a pretty big deal. To try to take down the president and install new leadership for this planet for a tyrannical man like himself to eventually be the one into authority. Derry then asked who he was as Kraktus let out a laugh. "Oh, you don't know who I am? Well, color me a bit surprised. I am Kraktus, former general of the WTF. We even tried to take over this planet a long time ago, but those days are long gone. I heard from a friend of mine that might have a use for me when it comes to my schemes. And of course, you're the type of man that I assume you are more focused on money and power. So does any of this get your attention?" Time to see if Derrick cared about what he was saying before he moved forward.

From what this General Kraktus was saying, it sounded like he needed Derry to do a job for him. Normally, Derry would have no issues taking in requests, since most of them carried around wads of cash and clearly couldn't take care of their own little problems themselves. However, Kraktus didn't exactly look like the type of guy to be seeking out the mafia of all people to run jobs for him. Being a former general, though, this Kraktus fellow is bound to have some cash on him. How could Derry refuse? Well, for one thing, Derry needed to know exactly what Kraktus had in mind for him. "Well, good to meet you, Kraktus. I'm not exactly the boss, but I am the Dirty Snakes' top enforcer, so I have some authority myself."
There was also the matter on the 'recommendation' that someone gave to Kraktus. Derry didn't exactly know many people who would know Kraktus, but he had a few guesses. It could be that Yellow Stargoon from a while back, but just to make sure... "You, uh, mind sharing who gave out the recommendation? It's just standard practice that the Snakes keep track of everyone involved in operations."
The promise of both money and power was certainly enticing. The Snakes could always use more territory under their control, and having some extra pocket change wouldn't hurt anybody. "Oh, you most certainly have my attention, but do tell me what exactly you had in mind?"

"Yes but I don't need to meet your boss." Kraktus interrupted as Derrick noted he was not the boss of the Dirty Snakes but merely the top enforcer. "I have a thing agiasnt bureaucracy. When I want something I head to the source. I don't want to trouble myself by going to your boss and explaining what I want. I'm, gonna tell you and see what you think. And if you don't like it then I'll move on." Kraktus shrugged. Then Derrick asked who told him about his services, Kraktus shrugged. "Well of course I am happy to tell you. The person who told me was the Yellow Stargoon Amara." He was fine with at least telling Derrick about who had brought him here. There was nothing wrong with that.
Kraktus nodded as Derrick seemed willing to listen to what he had to say. Kraktus moved over and sat down on the bench and turned to look at Derrick with a grin, "Well you see I am the type of man who has great ambition. If I want to reach that level, if I want my ambitions to be obtained but there is one foe that is quite difficult for me to deal with. That would be Carro of Earth. He is a thorn in my side. While I could just try to kill him that would be too hard." Plus he might get brought back to life. If he was going to strike him down it needed to be after the dragonballs were removed as thorns. "But he is the president of this Earth and I have heard you are quite good at smear campaigns. Do you understand what I am getting at?"

The fact that Kraktus immediately dismissed John, the big ringleader of the Dirty Snakes, the creator of the organization, the one who basically has a stranglehold on Central City, and main leader in taking on those Renegade bastards, and instead came to Derry. He was most certainly flattered by the comment, but it was still a rather interesting move all things considered. Kraktus continued on with his little spiel about despising bureaucracies, and Derry guessed that the alien general did have a point to make. John was a mastermind, but he certainly wasn't a sweet talker. He always got others to do it for him, and that someone was usually Derry. "Well, you do have a point right there. I'm flattered." Afterwards, Kraktus revealed that the one that sent in the recommendation was none other than the Stargoon that saved him several nights ago. As a bonus, he even finally learned her name. This Amara could prove to be very useful if he were to establish some sort of contact with her. "Ah, yes, I'm very familiar with her. We've... worked together on a job before, let's say."
Kraktus continued on with his speech about his ambitions and his future plans, stuff he's heard a million times already back at HQ when dealing with other customers. But there was one specific part that truly interested Derry: The target. Derry leaned in a bit closer towards Kraktus in order to better hide their conversation in case anyone attempts to listen in on them. "Carro Hofferson. You mean THAT Carro Hofferson? The president of the god damn planet?" An assassination attempt on the president of the Earth sounded extraordinarily dangerous, but it was a job that could cement the Dirty Snakes in the history books. However, it appears as if Kraktus had other plans. Instead of just killing the president, he spoke of committing smear campaigns against the president. "Oh, I understand alright. We've got some... connections back in Central, but he have a little influence in the other cities. I think I can certainly dig up something nice." Upon finishing his statement, something grabbed Derry's attention. He moves away from Kraktus and focuses back on the burnt down orphanage in front of him. He took off his sunglasses and stared directly at the burnt sign. 'Well Granny, looks like I'm hitting it big,' Derry thought to himself.
It was at this point that Derry didn't even realize he forgot to ask for what Kraktus was willing to offer. He snaps back into reality and turns his head back towards the former general. "Sorry. So what're ya willing to offer?"

Kraktus nodded as Derrick confirmed he did indeed know who he was talking about. So Amara had indeed been truthful that she had worked with this guy and got some result that was good. Kraktus watched carefully as Derrick seemed surprised about who he was looking to target. "Yes, I mean CArro Hofferson. President of The Earth, its strongest fighter and the hero's bulwark." Kraktus grinned. But Derrick didn't seem stunned for too long. He seemed to be willing to help and find something on the president. But then he asked about what he was going to be offered. Kraktus was annoyed by that, he was hoping this guy would just take the job but seems he was indeed focused on greed. Kraktus tilted his head. "Hmmm yes, what would I offer you. I could offer you money, fame, power. But I don't think those things are exactly what I want. See I need a leader. If I take down Carro then I need someone to be the new president of Earth. So how about that? How about I allow you to become president or someone from your group leader of this planet. Afterall, that would give you everything I could offer you and so much more." Now to see if Derrick liked that offer.

Kraktus confirmed the target to be none other that President Hofferson, and Derry just couldn't contain his excitement at the prospect. This could very well be one of the biggest jobs he's ever going to get, and he was absolutely sure that he wasn't going to miss this opportunity. Of course, if they do take on this job, it would come with great risk, specifically towards the other Dirty Snakes. If Derry plans on keeping them safe and out of harms way, he'll have to take on the majority of the job himself. Thankfully, he had the strength and tools to do so. Then there was the offer, which Kraktus explained that he could provide money, fame, and power, but he also had a rather special deal. Kraktus was offering the position of president of Earth to him. It was quite a wonderous offering, seeing as how there is no other position more powerful on Earth than the president, at least from a political position. But was it something that Derry really wanted? Sure, he could've been seen as the leader of the Dirty Snakes to some, and he's certainly the most powerful one of the bunch, but was he really cut out for something like that? If anyone could take on the role of president, it surely had to be John. Derry ponders for a bit, then turns back towards Kraktus with a soft smile on his face. "That'll do, that'll most certainly do."

Kraktus grinned as it seemed that Derrick was on board with his plan. He put his hands behind his back looking towards the warrior. "Good but you still have to be groomed. The president of Earth is strong they will need a hero to be their vanguard." Did they really? He was not sure but if Derry didn't get stronger it'd be easy for someone like Cress to kill him under his nose. If something like that happened then it would be bad news. He could not have someone like Derry be vulnerable. "So we will need to spar at some point. You can choose to do it now or another time. I need to test your strength and skills. If you are not to the standard then I will bring you to the strength you need." Kraktus raised his fist and clenched it. "Now if you need any help sometime give me a call I will do what I can to help you as you help me. I believe that it is best I help you out to get what I want. I am asking for a lot of afterall." He wanted to try to help his new allies now. That might help him rise to the power he desired.

While Kraktus talks about how the gangster needs to be prepared for the task ahead of him, Derry's focus slightly turned back towards the orphanage in front of the pair. He was still listening, of course, but he came here for a reason. His full attention was brought back when Kraktus mentions that in order for Derry's mission to be successful, he'll have to become stronger. Stronger? Compared to everyone else at the Dirty Snakes, he was practically on top of the world. Yet, other, much weaker humans, albeit those equipped with cryogenic weapons and sound cannons could still pose a threat to him, so Kraktus likely has a point, especially since this is the president they're talking about. If Carro even caught wind of what Derry was up to, all it would take was one man to bring him down. He was just some street gangster while the president has access to almost every hero on the planet. He nods in agreement, but halts the general when he mentions potential sparring between the two. "I suppose that would certainly help, General," Derry mentions to Kraktus, "but I would prefer if we scheduled ahead of time. Right now is... not exactly ideal." Derry simply came here to think back on the past, nothing more, nothing less. From then on, he would just move on to his actual assignment here in North City. "I don't suppose you've got a phone number, or do you use that scouter to call people?" Derry asks as he points towards the general's scouter.

Kraktus nodded as Derry seemed to understand that he needed to get stronger for this all to work out. It was perfect he didn't have to smack Derry around to get the point across. Though just the same Derry made it clear this was not a good time for them to do doing some spar. He'd rather schedule it ahead of time. Kraktus supposed that was one of the things he was going to have to deal with when it came to working with humans. Kraktus gave a nod. "Yes, that is fine." Kraktus crossed his arms as Derrick asked if there was a way to contact him. "My scouter got a frequency number. I also live in South City if you're looking for me and for some reason my scouter fails." Kraktus would pull out his scouter contact number and hand it to Derrick so he could write it down and call him at some point. "I've modified my scouter to work with your human's phone or whatever you call it so you have no need to get a scouter yourself for the time being. It probably is better to learn to sense Ki though it has its drawbacks." While people could only guess you could sense ki, androids and people like himself could hide from ki sensors and their detection. So it was a pick your poison situation.

Thankfully, Kraktus agreed to train Derry at a later date rather than now. The gangster gives a small sigh as the general continues on and tells Derry that he can best contact him by calling his scouter. Apparently, it works with Derry's phone, and the alien gives Derry the phone number to contact him. He also alerts the gangster about the fact that he is stationed down in South City in case he needs to talk to him personally or if something goes wrong with the call. "I presume your place in South City would be... noticable?" Derry asks, for he didn't exactly know where the general lives in the city. Afterwards, Kraktus continues on by suggesting learning about ki sense, which put a little damper on things. The gangster has certainly tried many times before to learn about ki sense, but couldn't really get it down in the end. He furrows his brow and replies, "That... might take a while. Perhaps a scouter of my own could suffice. I'll have to get it custom made, since it'll remove all chances of it being tracked by Capsule Corp. Don't exactly want them on my tail." Learning ki sense has proven to be a bit difficult because of... them. They haven't been that bad lately, but he worries that they may start to get too overwhelming.

Kraktus tilted his head as Derry asked if his place in the South City would be quite noticeable. Kraktus snorted, "You think I'd want to make myself easy to find. I live in an apartment complex. One that has the amenities that I need." He grunted to go check what number his apartment was again. He needed to make sure it was easy for Derry to find him. "I live in South City Apartment Complex, the 446th room." He handed over the number so Derry knew where to go. "As I said though, any time you need help you can call me. I know you help with your gang or whatever. And while that normally not appeal to me to do such light work I also have to keep in shape." Once again helping other villains would keep them loyal. Plus from helping he might find a diamond in the rough. As for the idea of learning to sense Ki, Derry seemed not to be sure if he wanted to learn that and wanted to focus on using a scouter. "No, of course, that would work as well. You do what you think is best. I was only suggesting sensing Ki since it is far more convenient than using a scouter in almost every situation. Though you can easily get a scouter maybe in your glasses. That would be a good idea to disguise it." Kraktus pointed to Derry's glasses.

The general scoffs at the idea that his base of operations would be easy to find for Derry. Given the status of Kraktus, Derry probably should've assumed it wouldn't be so easy to find him. Apparently, Kraktus lives inside of room 446 in the South City Apartment Complex. As Derry nods at Kraktus' response, he hands the gangster a slip of paper with the room number, likely so that Derry wouldn't forget the number. Kraktus was even kind enough to extend an offer to help out the Dirty Snakes should they need him. The gangster was flattered, but responds, "I very much appreciate the offer, Kraktus. However, most of the jobs we take can be easily done by my own hands. If, however, we ever try to go for something bigger, then I might just give you a call, see if ya intereted." The general then talks about how ki sense would usually be a bit more convenient that just using a scouter, but if he wants to use one regardless, Derry could use his glasses to hide it. He touches his glasses, and replies, "I suppose that's always a possibility. It might take me a bit, but I might find a way to incorporate one into 'em."
