Thread PL: 18,750 It was now 10:00 p.m. Derry was now positioned outside Sam's Prime Meats, the butchery that housed the North City Renegades, at least, according to the information John gave to Lucas. Derry continued to watch and wait for the light to go out before making his move, so that the owners could go home. It would be at that point when the Renegades will finally come out of hiding and begin their nightly operations. Unfortunately for them, Derry was fully prepared to go inside. After his encounter with the Renegades back in Central City, Derry knew that he couldn't go easy on them, and must remain vigilant. Before, he was almost turned into a popsicle because of their cryo technology and his carelessness, but he knew better now.
Only a handful of pedestrians now remained on the street, most of which were seemingly heading back to their homes to get some shut eye. Most of the criminal scum have begun to move into the streets, but Derry didn't care about them. All that truly mattered was the end of the Renegade's operations in North City, for the sooner he's done here, the sooner he can return to Central City. It's been a bit lonely for Derry, since he was no longer in the company of Lucas, Wallace, John, or any of the other Dirty Snakes. He's been in close contact with John over the past couple of hours, but now things have gone quiet. It didn't matter now. That won't stop Derry from fulfilling his mission.
It was now 10:12 p.m. and the owners have finally turned off the lights and closed down the shop. An elderly couple ran this joint, and they seemed rather happy with each other. Were they even aware of the Renegades? Maybe they're senile? Derry closed his notebook, and put it back into his back. Now, he just has to wait for the elderly couple to move out of sight, and the operation can begin. As he waited for the owners to pass, only one phrase came to mind; the same phrase that he muttered to that saiyan so many nights ago. Derry muttered to himself, "The Dirty Snakes don't leave any witnesses. No loose ends..."

It had been a few weeks since the alien had arrived on Planet Earth. In the short amount of time that he had been here he had been in any fights but none that a mere child on his home planet couldn't handle. His goal was to find a challenge; something that could push him to a new tier of power. "GRRR," the sound of hunger was churning deep in the bowels of the warrior. "I guess finding a fight will have to wait until after I eat my fill."All of the underground fights he had participated in had earned him a little pocket zenni. The layout of North City was new to him and he still was learning his way around. After bumbling around until dark the young prince finally located the butcher shop. All of the lights appeared to be off. How was he going to eat if he couldn't but the meat he needed? Just as he was beginning to approach the building an energy jolted through him causing his eyes to dart in the direction of a bench. A smirk would form as he turned his body in his direction. The energy he was sending from him was close to his own. "Seems I found myself a big fish."Drum made his way over to the young man nonchalantly waving at the practitioner standing before him. "So, I take it the butcher shop is closed? I was needing to buy some beef for my dinner." The young alien would state before extending his hand for a shake. "How rude of me, my name is Drum from planet Shaol."Thread Pl 20,230 Derrick Ottoy

Before Derry could make his move on the butchery, his attention was quickly diverted to a certain individual in the area. Before, the area was completely devoid of anyone who would be capable of bringing him down. All Derry had to worry about was the cryo technology, but unlike before, he was aware of it. This feeling, however, is different. It didn't feel quite as strong as that saiyan he met so many nights ago, but it felt much closer to his own. Derry turns towards the source and comes face to face with what appeared to be some sort of blue skinned alien with gills on its neck and fins growing from its back. It was a rather strange sight, seeing an alien like this hanging around the city at night, but then again, aliens have become more and more common here on Earth as time went buy. After all, there was still that large scale battle that happened in the heart of Central City, as well as that saiyan.
However, the questions surrounding what the alien was wasn't Derry's priority. Instead, he began to tense up, and readied himself. Derry began thinking about this alien and whether or not it was a Renegade, and that this is yet another one of their ambushes. Perhaps he should've enlisted the help of the saiyan, although it would be rather unlikely that she would be interested in such a lowly job. Once the alien opened its mouth, however, his worst fears began to die down a bit, as it seemed to be a rather friendly fellow. The alien waved to him, introduced itself, and even extended its hand out for a handshake. However, just because the alien was acting friendly doesn't mean that this won't mean trouble. After all, if they make too much noise, the Renegades would grow suspicious. Derry had to think about how to best approach this encounter.
His first priority was to find out this alien's allegiance. Should it be a Renegade, then he'll have no choice but to fight it here and now, and hopefully, he could beat it quick enough to catch the Renegades that may be still inside the butchery. However, if it's from a different faction, or if it's acting solo, then Derry could at the very least attempt to avoid the alien. After all, the alien appeared to be friendly. One thing to consider, however, was whether or not it was even looking for a fight to begin with, or if it just wanted to say hello. He can't fight here, not right now, not while the Renegades are so close to being brought down. He didn't even know the alien's entire motivation for being here. Perhaps, if he were to entice the alien, then maybe...
"Er, hello? I don't believe I've seen your kind around these parts," Derry said to the alien, "The name's Derrick, but you can just call me Derry. What exactly brings you to these parts so late at night?" As Derry asks his question, he extends his hand out to grasp the alien's hand and begins to shake it. Derry didn't entirely believe that the only reason this alien was out here in the first place was for a good meal. There had to be some other motivation, but he hasn't been tossed around. Yet. "It's a bit strange for someone to come to a butchery to eat at night."

After introducing himself Drum's eyes would study him carefully. Just what was he doing sitting on a park bench this late at night? Was he planning on robbing the shop? He couldn't be presumptuous because he didn't have all the facts. "That's probably because I am more than likely the last living member of my race." A sharp pain formed in his gut not from hunger, but shame. The Finnian would look at the warrior and smirk. "Well to be honest I was out looking for someone to fight and it got late and here I am missing my chance at some fresh beef." The earthling then grasped his hand and shook it causing a sly smirk to form on his face. He had gotten the greeting correctly as he awkwardly learned from an elder. "No, I don't want to eat here, I just want the meat so I can cook it." Drum was obsessed with the culinary arts after watching a few cooking programs. The prince watched as the guy continued to be almost entranced with the shop. Was there something more to this place than what he was seeing? He didn't want to be the guy to just ask but it appeared he didn't have much choice in the matter. "Is something wrong with the shop?" He questioned as he released the handshake and turned his attention to a couple mysterious men around the side of the building. "Why are those shady looking men there?" Curiosity could be the death of him especially if they were his friends. Well the only way to know for sure was for him to go ask then personally. "Well, I suppose I could just go and ask them." He would slowly begin to walk towards the butcher shop. Derrick Ottoy

The alien was now attempting to walk towards the butchery. This is going far better than Derry expected. However, now he has to make sure they aren't discovered so early. Derry reaches out towards Drum and grabs him by the shoulder and pulls him back. If they're going to do this right, he'll have to leak some information to him. After all, Drum isn't even aware of their cryo technology, although Derry isn't quite sure if it's really that much of a threat to Drum considering his anatomy. He could be extraordinarily resilient towards the cold, or he could be quite vulnerable. it honestly could either way. But just in case...
"Perhaps I should let you in on a little something," Derry said quietly near Drum, "Those guys inside are part of a gang. I'm not too sure about what you do and don't know, but they're Renegades. A nasty little bunch. They've caused quite a commotion back in Central City for the past couple of weeks, and it looks like they're setting up shop here. I'm here to put an end to their little operation here." Derry hoped that this would be good enough to prevent Drum from asking further questions, but he was also prepared in the event that he does continue asking questions.
"One thing I should also mention is that the men inside are carrying weapons designed to freeze their opponents. You'll probably be fine, but I just wanna make sure that you don't get yourself turned into a popsicle." Derry releases Drum from his grip. That should be enough to keep damage to a minimum, but now he had to consider one other thing: Drum's morality. Derry's still not entirely sure if Drum is someone who would tolerate killing of any kind. Just to be safe, Derry will have to avoid actively murdering the gangster. He could always finish them off at a later date. What mattered now was stopping their operations here and now.
"Tell you what," Derry added, "you're looking for a fight? Well, I can always help you out in that department, but I need to take care of this first. We can have our little sparring session at a later date if you help me bring these goons down. What do you say? Are you in?" Hopefully, that was enough to convince the alien to assist him. And besides, Derry was always interested in fighting someone of similar strength to his own. But now, it was time to take down the Renegades and see what they've been doing in North City.

The muscles of the alien would tense up as he felt the hand of the human touch his shoulder. The warrior would sigh as he soon came to realize that he wasn't trying to sucker punch him. All the Earthling intended to do was impart some valuable Intel about the people inside of the butchery. It didn't take a scholar to realize that Derry had some form of hatred for these people. It was all beginning to make sense now. He was waiting for dark to strike the gang and eliminate them, smart guy.
"So bad people are in there and they have been known to cause some damage? No matter where you go in this universe the strong provoke the strong and the weak gang up on the weak. I hate people like that!"
Vivid flashbacks of the World Trade Fleet harassing his people, standing over them like they were ants. The young Finnian came back to reality realizing that he was clenching his fist with great force. With a sigh Drum would turn to the Earthling known as Derry and would continue to listen. "So none of these cowards can control ki? Their weapons could be dangerous but they would have to make a direct hit. My species is used to the cold."
Drum was already convinced that he was going to assist Derry in dismantling this little operation but before he could offer his assistance there was icing for the cake. A sparring match with someone of his caliber was something he looked forward to and wasn't going to let pass by. An opportunity missed could bite him in the rear.
"Deal, now what do you have planned? Mind you that when I engage an enemy in a life or death bout Icwoll murder anyone that stands in my way; are you okay with that?"

Well, well, it seemed as if Derry had won the entire lottery. A powerful ally that can make short work of the Renegades, perfectly fine with murder, and a future sparring match. This encounter couldn't have been more perfect. Derry smirks at the remarks Drum made and replies, "Excellent. I was afraid for a second that you were one of those faint-hearted folk who want to avoid murder. Before we do this, I should mention the fact that I leave no witnesses. You don't have to necessarily clean up the bodies, but at the very least knock them out."
Derry now directed his attention back towards Sam's Prime Meats, and notices that the lights are now on. Various silhouettes are now moving about, grabbing what appeared to be weapons off of various tables within the shop as mist begins to pour out from under the door. It appears as if the two of them have been waiting for too long and have been spotted. It didn't matter, however, since Drum was now fully caught up on the situation and the Renegades have little chance of escaping the scene, and it looks like they've realized it as well. Various tables have been overturned, and the men inside have ducked behind said tables as cover. There's a lot of shouting coming from within, lots of orders being barked from the back. As Derry watched closely, he noticed that one particular individual ran into the back of the shop. Perhaps he had some information on him. Further plans on expansion in North City? Communications to or from Central City? The location of their goods? Derry simply must find out for himself.
"Well, it appears they've noticed us," Derry said to Drum with a mocking attitude, "it's about time. Well, I was hoping to keep collateral damage to a minimum, but it can't be helped." As Derry finished his sentence, pink flames arise from the palms of his hands. He points the flames directly at the door of the butchery and launches two small fireballs from his hands, blowing open the door and immediately knocking down some of the Renegades stationed near the door. Derry turns back to Drum, smiles at him, and says, "Now is the time. You can have the ones in the lobby. I'm going straight for the back." In an instant, Derry rushes forward, knocking aside any of the Renegades that were in his path, and dives straight into the back of the butchery. Several Renegades were caught off guard and attempted to point their weapons at Derry while the man Derry saw ran away attempts to get through the back door. Pink flames once again appear in Derry's palms, and he requests, "How about you stop right there and give me whatever information you're holding."

Note: Prince Drum has been inactive for over a week, so I'm continuing since it's a bit important for Derry's story. Will wait a couple of days until responding again. The Renegade guards immediately opened fire at Derry, who simply disintegrated each bullet as they approached using the flames in his hands. They were keeping him in a constant storm of bullets, so Derry took the time to carefully shoot fireballs at each guard one by one while still maintaining one hand to melt the bullets. Thankfully, the one Renegade in a suit was still fiddling with the door and couldn't get through. Eventually, each of the guards were taken down, with some already nice and crispy while the rest continued to scream out in pain as their bodies were being eaten by the flames. The man in the back, after failing to open the door for so long, fell down to the ground, and attempted to curl himself up in a ball and cry in sheer terror.
"You can make it easy for yourself, you know," Derry stated to the crying man, "Just give me whatever you've got, and I promise that you'll get outta here. Look, I'll even get the door for you." Of course, Derry was lying through his teeth. This man was sure to be a high ranking member of the Renegades, and there was no way that Derry would let him go alive. The man lying on the floor then reached into his pocket to grab something. Derry raised his hand and warned, If that's what I think it is, then you better stop right where you are, buddy." The man looks back up terrified and squeals, "No no no, you don't understand! I wasn't grabbing a weapon! Here!" The man pulled out a small letter from his pocket and immediately dropped it on the floor. He pushes it towards Derry's feet and begins to get off of his back and get ready to run.
"Alright, you have what you want, now please just leave me alone!" cried the man as he started fiddling with the door again in yet another attempt to open it. Derry smiled, raised his hand, and grabbed hold of the man, and replied, "Who said anything about getting out of here alive?" With a terrified look on his face, the man attempted to take Derry's hand off of him, but it was already too late. A torrent of flame was released from Derry's hand, and the Renegade was completely engulfed in flame. As the man screamed while burning to death, Derry reached back down to pick up the letter that the man gave him. Derry shoves the man aside, now motionless and silent on the ground, and kicks down the door that the Renegade tried so hard to open up before.
"Hmm, wonder what the other kid is up to," Derry questioned as he moved his attention towards the letter in his hands. He could feel something solid inside the letter. Without any hesitation, Derry tore open the letter and shacked it to see what it contained. What fell out onto the the palm of Derry's hand was a key. For a moment, Derry pondered on what this key could possibly lead to. It could very well lead to a secret base, or it could be a key to the Renegade treasury. Maybe he should've asked some questions, but Derry didn't think that the man would answer those questions right now. Yet, something seemed... familiar about this key. It felt nostalgic to him for some odd reason, but then he noticed the ash, the charred metal, the smell. He knew exactly what this key was.
Derry was startled at the revelation of where this key led to. To think that he'll have to go back there again, back to the orphanage, back to the last place that he wanted to go. He already payed a visit once before on this trip, there was no way in hell that he was going back a second time. After all, there was still West City to check out, since there have been rumors about Renegade activity there as well. Derry shoved the key back into his pocket and muttered quietly to himself, "Later..."
