NAME: Hyoga
SPECIES: Arcosian
AGE: 84
GENDER: Masculine
STARTING PLANET: Outer Space
In such a remote and minor assignment, there was little glory to be won and seemingly little room for advancement. But of course, those very facts meant few Arcosians bothered to seek assignment there. This worked to Hyoga’s advantage, as there were few in the border force who could rival his natural power. He quickly rose through the ranks, attaining command of a patrol ship ostensibly tasked with border control. His duties mostly included inspecting vessels crossing the border, catching smugglers and collecting tolls for passage through their space. Of course, Hyoga was far too ambitious for this limited role to satisfy him.
Word soon got back to Arcose and an official investigation was opened by his superiors. It wasn't long before Hyoga found himself with no ship and most of his crew imprisoned or giving evidence to the authorities. Hyoga’s accounts on the homeworld were frozen and he became a wanted fugitive in the eyes of both the World Trade Fleet and the Galactic Patrol, leaving him little option but to stow away on a long-haul freighter and flee to the outermost reaches of the galaxy. Somewhere remote, somewhere beyond the influence or notice of either group.
TECHNIQUES:
Offensive:
[A1] Payday: Hyoga’s trademark attack. He summons a sphere of amber-coloured energy in one palm, charging it up for a moment before firing it off as a hail of ‘energy bullets’. Deals 33% of current PL in damage.
Support:
Afterimage [SU1]: Through a sudden burst of speed Hyoga leaves behind a static image of himself to distract his opponent, this technique allows him to completely dodge techniques beneath 100% of current PL.
Utility:
Energy Suppression [UT1]: Hyoga learned to suppress his power during his time as a fugitive; in order to better hide from Energy Sensing and Scouters. Works so long as he is not making use of powerful techniques(anything that would consume KP), enabling him to lower his ki signature to surprise foes, or attempt to hide his energy at ambient planetary levels. This technique uses 0 KP.
SPECIES: Arcosian
AGE: 84
GENDER: Masculine
STARTING PLANET: Outer Space
APPEARANCE: As with all Arcosians, Hyoga’s appearance varies somewhat depending on the form he chooses to take, though certain characteristics are consistent throughout: His bio-armour is always white with bronze-coloured crystalline segments and skin a shade of deep violet. His face is smooth, with two snakelike slits for a nose and a thin, down-turned mouth. His eyes have beady orange pupils and are surrounded by more reddish markings, sweeping out and down his cheeks. He also wears a set of custom, old-style battle armour, capable of stretching and warping to fit whatever form he chooses to take. He primarily favours his Brute Form, however. He cuts an imposing figure with his two up-turned horns and tall, broad physique; allowing him to tower over most other sentient beings. His other forms are reserved for when it becomes necessary to use them, whether that be for fitting into small spaces, modifying his own power levels or manipulating the perceptions of others.

BACKGROUND: Hyoga was born on the fringes of what used to be Arcosian space, youngest offspring of an aging father of minor nobility. His elder siblings consumed much of their father’s attention and praise, leaving Hyoga in their shadows. Eager to escape his fate as the least of that brood, he eventually signed up with the World Trade Fleet’s border force.
Unbeknownst to his superiors, Hyoga began running his own criminal enterprise under the guise of the border force. He under-reported toll collections and pocketed the undeclared cash. He ran a protection racket with various smugglers, granting them safe passage in exchange for a cut of their profits. And on top of all that, he even engaged in a little piracy. The crew of his ship were silent, each being paid handsomely for their part in the Arcosian’s schemes. For almost fifty years, the Arcosian and his merry band of thieves and extortionists conducted their illicit business unnoticed. They became relatively wealthy, buying out small legitimate businesses to launder their ill-gotten gains. Life was good, and Hyoga and his crew were swimming in loot and luxuries.
That all changed one day, when his crew ran afoul of a Galactic Patrol ship while engaging in some light piracy on the wrong side of the border. They'd been tipped off by somebody who'd gotten on Hyoga's bad side and held a grudge about it. The Patrol wouldn't follow them back into Fleet space, but in the end that didn't matter.
Eventually, he settled in a distant star cluster on the very tip of the Southern spiral arm, eking out an existence as a black market trader among the backwater worlds there. He assembled a motley crew of alien mercenaries, hired thugs and the dregs of galactic society. One advantage of being so removed from the rest of the galaxy was that he found himself by far the most powerful being in the region. The flipside was that, being so remote, there wasn't much wealth to speak of. The many varied luxuries of the galactic core and its endless opportunities for business were a far cry from the scant handful of merchants that made their way so far out. Hyoga had security, but he was hardly living well by his former standards. Still, his operations ran smoothly; free from the meddling of the Galactic Patrol and any threat of reprisal by the World Trade Fleet. For a couple of decades, that was the best he dared to hope for.
But eventually his past caught up with him. The Galactic Patrol found their way to his base of operations and launched an all-out assault. Forced once more to hastily grab a few valuables and pile into an escape vehicle, he fled back towards the core regions, constantly looking over his shoulder, watching for the dogged pursuit of the authorities as he went. He didn't know what awaited him as he drew ever closer to his former home. But when you're chased to the edge of the galaxy, there's nowhere left to go but back the way you came.
