Derry hoped that the fireballs would've been enough to fully distract the magician, but the stranger handled them with ease. He felt some sort of sudden surge of energy from the magician, and he dodged the first fireball, almost grazing his coat. The second one was absorbed by the man's hat, and the remaining two completely missed. Despite this setback, Derry decided to still charge directly at the magician. He could leave himself wide open to the magician's attacks since he wasn't hit by any of the fireballs and would be distracted by the fire, but Derry wanted to finish the fight before the voices come back to him.
What Derry didn't expect was that the magician would be charging him as well. A strange move to be sure, but Derry welcomed the invitation. He began to prepare some more small fireballs in hopes of hitting the magician once he got closer. That way, it would've been much harder to dodge these fireballs, perhaps giving him time for a follow-up attack. However, the stranger instead decided to leap up into the air and come crashing down on top of Derry. Derry never anticipated this move, and the stranger slammed down onto his shoulders, forcing Derry to fall flat onto the pavement. His sunglasses were now cracked, shattered onto the cold pavement. One of the shards even slightly slashed Derry's right cheek.
The punishment didn't end there as Derry's back was soon met with several ki blasts. Parts of his clothing was now singed, but otherwise left little physical damage. Derry remained motionless for a few seconds, leaving him to his thoughts, and a new voice called out to Derry. This one, sounding far more like a stereotypical gangster, mocked Derry and hissed, "Was that all ya got, bucko? Come on, kid, show us some of them fancy fireworks." "Quiet!" Derry shouted, "you're supposed to be dead!" But to who was he referring to? Did he also know this voice? They just wouldn't leave him alone, no matter how hard he fought. The threat of him falling has now grown even greater than before, and his mind almost feels as if it's splitting apart.
Derry then began to slowly get back up onto his own two feat and turned his head towards the stranger. "That's a nice little powerup you've got there," Derry remarks in a malicious tone, "But news flash, bud: I've got one two." A fire from within grew hotter as Derry's eyes, now uncovered, were covered in pink flames. He smiled a wicked grin and chuckled as he began to build up more pink flames within the palm of his right hand. Derry aimed directly at the stranger and bellowed out, "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with fire, kiddo?" A stream of pink spiraling flames emerged from Derry's hand, aimed directly at the stranger's chest.
