In the bamboo forests, home to many different kinds of animals and plant life. Birds chirped away, the deer grazed away and the sun shone through the tree branches onto a log. Seated upon the log was a darkened entity, his eyes closed as he sat cross legged. His mind was else where, searching the recesses of his mind for the answers he had longed for. Why he had been born, who was the predecessor he remembered and how he had gotten here. He supposed none of that mattered in the end, he was simply just another being. He was weak, much more so than the predecessor. His eyes slowly opened as birds landed upon his forearm, the blue little creature eyeing the demon curiously before searching the area for food. He watched as it took flight once more, pondering if he was a demon or something else. He did not have the violent tendency that his memories held, yet he felt compelled to follow in their foot steps. Whatever the case really was, he was not going to find answers so easily as by simply thinking on it too hard. He had been born with a fully conscious mind, one of mutual intelligence of a fully grown man. In his heart he felt as if he wanted to commit great tragedies to the universe, a bitterness existed within his body, within his mind. He despised the life around him, yet he wasn't offended by it personally. It was as if some sort of tugging string was tied to his insides. As if it held tightly to the very core of his being, yet it was fragile and easily loosened as of right now. His red eyes staring into the distance, his aura leaking from his body in vapors as he pondered the burning question in his mind. Was he out for revenge on foes unseen? Was he seeking redemption to those wronged by other hands? He was a flag blowing in a tempest. He felt compelled to do horrible things, and yet... he didn't want to... Memories of a smiling duo... a friend holding out his hand for help... A fellow demon. A love burned in his heart, but it was for someone else's desires. A love for someone he didn't know, yet it wasn't truly his. It was as if something had been injected into him, and it infuriated him. A burning rage boiled in his veins, a tempest of searing fire, and it showed in his eyes. A red flame, guttural and feral burned brightly. Yet it was not the whole story... His had yet to be written. Considering the circumstances and all the events, her current life wasn't all that bad. Hell, she should consider herself grateful even. For a person who had never finished her education, Kon had a roof under her head, hot meals three times a day, and even was steadily making enough money so that her future seemed promising. In comparison to where she was heading, everything was almost going perfectly for her.
But there was something that was missing. As good as her current life was, Kon wasn't satisfied with the results. No, there was something missing but what was it? This lingering feeling kept eating away in her mind, grating against her thoughts from the moment that she woke up till the moments she would go to sleep at night. Why? Why was she still feeling like this when her life was arguably so much better when she left everything behind? Why didn't she want to give up on the past when her future was out right in front of her?
Gah! Before she knew it, her fist had struck the mirror inside her room, sending the shards of glass flying across her room. A few cuts pierced her skin, blood oozing from the cuts. The pain hardly registered in her mind, but the fact that she had managed to injure herself from something so mundane and weak, to begin with, bothered her. But still, why did she care? She left her old fighting life behind, so why couldn't she just move on completely? While she hadn't sworn off using her strength completely as she had years ago, she couldn't care less about growing stronger. But still, if that was the case why did she care so much about how weak she was now?
Maybe some fresh air was all she needed. After all, she had just spent the past few weeks working tirelessly without the break. Grabbing a few tissues to clean her cuts, Kon made her way out the door and soon into the sky. Even the sensation of flight felt odd, especially after she had neglected this ability in favor of buses and carpools. However, they weren't fast enough. She wanted to get out here now and as far as possible. She allowed her body to take her to where she desired, allowing her mind to race and these frustrating emotions to sort themselves out.
However, her energy had dwindled from lack of training. Before long, she found herself having to take a break from flying, falling down to the forest below her. Sure, it could have been dangerous, but Kon wasn't entirely defenseless. She still knew how to fight and could do so if needed. Her descent was rougher than she would have liked, producing an audible thump sound that sent vibrations up her body, but it was a welcome distraction. She only wished that it would have lasted longer.

Boryoku was enjoying his meditation, his seething was akin to soaking in a hot tube for his muscles. He felt good, letting it roll through him, roll through his very core. A smile formed along his lips as he shivered from the sensation. He wondered if the predecessor could enjoy such feelings, or if the insanity that had gripped him was... no it was pointless to ponder over those that were gone. The predecessor was dead, that much was a given, and now the remains were here. He was a fragment of the old, but something new in return. Memories meant nothing, and the demon would slowly come down from his high to look at the sky.
He spotted a flying individual, fluttering... stuttering in their flight. Orange hair made the demon's eyes widen as he saw it, and he stood. Was it one of the ones he sought? In a hurry the demon rushed forward, running through the trees until he came across the one who had landed. It wasn't the same individual... no rather a female who resembled them. It wasn't who he sought but nonetheless he persisted. His head tilted to one side for a brief moment, confusion taking him.
He recognized the individual but they were faint. He didn't know them well enough to say he knew them by face, yet he felt... as if they had met before.
"Who are you?"
The first words that Boryoku had ever spoken shocked even himself. He sounded like the predecessor, but with a slightly higher pitch... almost human in nature. It bothered him immensely.

The sudden voice caused Kon to jump. She wasn't expecting anyone out here in the first place, not to mention someone that she had met in the past. The fact she had encountered someone in the middle of nowhere was almost nostalgic to her, reminding her of the time when she was on the run. Still, she wasn't sure whether or not this person was a threat or not to her. Warily, she would turn around to meet the source of the voice to find a rather familiar face. For a second, she simply couldn't speak, taking a brief moment to take in the appearance of this stranger. It felt as if the answer to the question was on the tip of her tongue, yet despite her best efforts the name or the exact face could not come to her mind. It frustrated her, especially when he had plenty of inhumane qualities, a clue that should have clearly helped her. Yet even with the clue, why couldn't she figure it out?
Regardless of whether she knew who he was or not, Kon's position would shift instantly, changing towards a defensive stance almost naturally. However, her face would show clear confusion, giving him a window to see her troubled thoughts. It probably would have been a better idea to run, especially since she was out of form from lack of training. However, past experiences have proven that running away was generally futile as those she met would always come catching back up to her. Besides there was something keeping her here, something that she couldn't explain aside from a strong desire to stay here. By no means was Kon calm or even brave, the encounter bringing back countless suppressed emotions from years that have gone by, however, she wanted to solve this strange mystery that was in front of her.
"I should be asking you the same thing." She said after a few moments of silence. Kon didn't move, standing there silently as her gaze focused upon the eyes that she had sworn she's seen once in her life. "I don't know you and I don't want any trouble. Let's just pretend we didn't see each other, okay?" Her voice was clearly trembling despite her efforts to hide it. Hell, she could hardly stop her entire body from shaking, to begin with. Her already jumbled thoughts and emotions were once again stirred up, causing her head to ache. Why now? What was even happening to her?

The demon said nothing as the girl showed clear confusion, but it was to be expected. He simply stood up straight, not taking a stance as he held no ill intention for the person standing before her. She had long red hair unlike he had known or rather... like the predecessor had seen. He simply held up his hands as he looked her up and down, showing he had no ill intention. He could understand the feeling, The predecessor had attacked the earth, and for a brief moment Boryoku had a flash of memory. A boy bloody in his arms, hair similar to hers asking him to do the right thing.
A grit of teeth as a jolt of uncomfortable ache flooded his mind. He had only fragments to call his memories, most of them comprised of someone elses, but they felt his own at times. Now he was slowly beginning to uncover more.
"Its fine, I'm not here to hurt you... I am called Boryoku. A demon."
Boryoku waited patiently then, his eyes searching the girls clearly quivering frame, her eyes were betraying her emotions. She was frightened, not confident and her stance was sloppy... Yet he didn't understand how he knew that. His experiences in combat were fresh, he had never experienced combat first hand. Yet he could tell somehow, perhaps it was the residual effects of whatever had happened to him. Slowly he stepped forward, arms held up still.
"I just have questions. This is earth yes...? I just need help understanding things, that is all."
With that Boryoku would come to a stop, eyes settling on the girls. He wanted answers and it was clear he wasn't trying to force them from her.

Kon honestly didn't know how to react to the demon, Boryoku's, words. As much as she wanted to believe in what he said, she was still wary of past experiences, not to mention that he was making her feel strange... His mere presence elicited a certain response from her, keeping her from hiding her emotions and appear more fearful than she would have liked. However, Kon quickly dismissed it up to deja vu. A majority of her encounters typically ended in violence, what was to say this one wouldn't either? Still, she was at least willing to give him a chance and hear him out, although she would quickly turn the moment that he would do anything that was even remotely threatening.
All he wanted was questions so far. Okay, she could do that. Granted most of her experiences upon Earth were rather mundane, and she had purposely chosen to ignore most of the major news in her efforts to escape her past life but surely she could at least answer a few questions. Her posture relaxed, as her hands would fall down limply by her sides. "Alright," she asked cautiously, voice still trembling from the fear that she felt before. She did her best to even her breathing at the very least, although she couldn't stop the subtle trembles from her body. "What do you want to know?"
He didn't do anything remotely threatening yet, so why was she terrified? She could defend herself, even if it had been a couple of years since her last fight. Hopefully talking this out some more would at the very least calm her nerves enough so that she wasn't so jittery.

Boryoku breathed a sigh of relief, his posture relaxing as he simply nodded before rubbing his hands together nervously, looking about the area for a brief moment. His many eyes seeking anything in the area, but ultimately settled on a log nearby before taking a seat. His hands resting on his knees as he tried to think up good questions to ask. She hadn't told him her name, so he was confused as to what to address her with.
"Well first... This is Earth yes? And... you are a human?"
His many eyes looking to the horizon as he tried to visualize the earth as a whole.
"Also... I want to know about another demon. He was... large... lots of fire."
Boryoku was hesitant to ask about the predecessor, as it would usually be a touchy subject. He was worried it would scare people off, but he had to know the answer.
"I am trying to understand... this."
Boryoku would gesture to the world.
"I just woke up here, and I only have faint memories that don't belong to me."
He would hold his head gently, and shrug.
"And... Who are you? As I asked before."
Boryoku said, more insistant than before, clearly frustrated not being able to address the person he was talking too.

The questions started simple enough. Without much hesitation, Kon quickly answered the first question. "Yeah, we're on Earth." She said with a nod. However, his second question was what had caused her to hesitate. her eyes fell upon the tail that was connected to her back, a sign of her heritage as a saiyan. It was foreign finally acknowledging who she was, especially from her past hatred of saiyans. However, she had grown neutral to the species, and the fact that she had their blood in her body. "I'm not human, but rather another species called Saiyan." The words felt foreign in her mouth despite the fact that there was some truth behind her words. She was keeping the fact that she was a hybrid a secret but why did it matter if she did? It had no relevance to the conversation at hand, and she doubts that he would pry too much into her background.
For some reason, his next question was easier for her to answer than his previous one. "I heard he caused a lot of destruction somewhere on Earth," she said with a shrug. It was one of the situations that Kon didn't keep up with. All of this happened during the time when she was more concerned about her own survival rather than the state of the planet. Sure, it was horrifying and a tragedy, but even today she couldn't care less about what had happened. "I dunno much about him aside from that to be honest. Didn't really pay much attention to it. I don't even know what the guy looks like." The words came almost nonchalantly out of her mouth despite the fact that she had just spoken about a major tragedy. People died from plenty of sad events, how different was the attack from any natural disaster or the like?
After answering his questions, Boryoku would finally open up about the situation he was in. Kon knew that a typical person generally would offer to help him out, but she felt nothing in this situation. He was nothing more than a random stranger to her, one that was oddly curious about that powerful demon that attacked the Earth awhile ago. She had no idea how to even respond to the words, instead choosing to ignore them in favor of his final question. Was it safe for her to give him her name? It wasn't as if he knew her to begin with, especially when his own name didn't ring any bells although he still looked so familiar... "My name is Kon," she said after a few moments of silence. "You got any more questions or are you done?" The talk had allowed her to relax even more, but her guard still remained up, wary if her answers were to trigger some sort of reaction from him.

Boryoku sighed as he simply nodded, he shouldn't expect answers so readily from someone who wasn't there he supposed. The demon's eye's looked about the area in search of things she may know but was coming up empty handed. She had avoided conflict, a wise decision.
"I see... Then tell me... Do you know kayen? Carro? Or perhaps know where I can find them?"
If he could not get the answers here, then he would look for them elsewhere. But this girl seemed familiar yet he didn't know where... Perhaps she was a saiyan the predecessor knew...? Regardless she was more comfortable now in his presence it seemed.
"Also that cut... Why are you hurt?"
His next question was curiosity rather than a drive for information.

Thank goodness things weren't hitting the fan. After having nearly all her previous encounters devolve into violence, it was a nice change for once to have a conversation with someone, although granted there was a certain part of her that did miss those days. The demon would continue, rattling off names that she was only vaguely aware of. "I only know that Kayen is the queen of the saiyans and that's it." She responded with a shrug. Why the hell he would expect her, regardless of whether she was a saiyan or not, to have personal contact with such an important figure or even know where her exact location remained a mystery. Such was the same as the president of Earth. "Same for Carro. Us citizens don't get a free pass to meet with someone like him just because we live on this planet, although I'm guessing he's in Central City since that's where all the big law stuff takes place." Kon didn't know what he expected when he was asking someone as insignificant as her.
Suddenly the conversation of their topic shifted to the cuts upon her hand from the mirror incident earlier today. Instinctively, she hid it behind her back, obscuring it from the demon's view. "Dropped some dishes and was trying to clean them up," she said without missing a beat. There was really no reason to lie about the truth of her wound, but Kon wasn't particularly keen about opening up her true emotions to someone that she had just met. Despite her attempts to act cool, she quickly dismissed the subject, hoping that he would focus on something else. "Look it's not related to the rest of this, can we move on?" She was fine with answering general questions about the world (primarily because it was either she knew it or she didn't) but going into something like that made her feel anxious.

Boryoku could feel her anxiety about the subject, her change of deflect of the subject was obvious. He would chuckle at her anxiety but quickly shook his head. It wasn't something he could pry from her nor did he have a desire to. She didn't trust easily and he understood that feeling.
"Don't trust easily I see... Must have had a rough time to be so on edge by such a simple question."
Boryoku then looked off into the distance for a moment before shrugging.
"But this world does that to people... Brings out the worst in us."
With that he would look to his hand then before making a fist then unclenching it.
"So Kon, why so jumpy about a simple question? Are you frightened of me like so many others?"
With that he would smile faintly, awaiting her answer.

It wasn't difficult to read her emotions, a fact that she had been aware of almost her entire life. She frequently wore her emotions on her sleeve, yet still, it never felt easier nor did it ever make her feel less weak. She hated being this vulnerable, yet nothing could ever patch this giant window to her personal thoughts. Why couldn't she be stronger in that regard as well? Everything she did to try and just not is so obvious always ended in failure and it was one of the most frustrating things in the world. In response to his words, she would merely avert her eyes, letting out a quiet "tch" of annoyance.
She continued to listen to his words, and honestly, she couldn't help but agree with them. For so long she had found herself conflicted about her place, her own stance, and everything about this world that she had no idea what to think about it anymore. After remaining silent for what felt like an eternity, Kon would finally respond with a statement of her own. "I'm sorry but I can't trust anyone. They don't care about me, they only care about what they want to see." The words she tried so desperately to hide finally came out, and it had honestly felt quite liberating towards her. Everything felt like a lie, from the life she lived now to the society that they were in. "I'm not afraid of just you, but everyone else as well."
No matter how much bravado she put on, there was no hiding the truth from herself. She had realized it quite a while ago, but her own pride refused to let her admit it. If she had the power, she would tear it all down, but the reality was far from the truth. "Are you happy now that you know this?" She asked, a hint of resentment edging on her voice. Why was this, out of everything, the straw that broke the camel's back?

Boryoku watched, listing to to the girl speak of how she couldn't trust anyone else. A sad sentiment but one understandable. How else would one describe that? But none the less he was patient to let her speak but at her final words he looked to her. He let her words roll in his head a moment before speaking.
"Are you? Seems you had a bit on your chest."
Boryoku could tell she was frustrated by his words but perhaps not at him. She seemed upset her emotions were so easily read, or perhaps because they were called out. As such, Boryoku decided to change the subject.
"I thought Saiyan's had black hair... Didn't realize that they could have different hair colors. My predecessor worked with Saiyan's for a while... He even loved one. To think a demon capable of loving a saiyan. But I suppose this world bleeds weakness into people."
Boryoku's tone grew a little darker then. Perhaps bad memories or something he didn't know himself, but he despised this world. It turned his stomach, made him nauseous.
"Why is a saiyan here?"
A more pressing question he supposed was in order.

There was a part of Kon that truly did want to pour her heart out to the stranger. After keeping most of her internal feelings, her struggles, and thoughts to herself for nearly all her life, she just wanted to let it all out. Her common sense, however, objected greatly to the thought. He was nothing more than a stranger, and to let him know about her personal struggles would only lead to trouble. Hell, the amount of information she shared with Boryoku already exceeded her own personal comfort zone. She would not respond to his initial question, remaining tight-lipped.
His second question, although personal, was something that Kon could explain although she wasn't particularly feeling up to telling the truth. "This?" She began, running her good hand through the locks of orange hair. "Well, you're right. It's supposed to be black, but I didn't feel like it fit my style so I dyed it." Kon answered without a hitch. The lie felt almost reassuring, there was no sense of guilt that accompanied it. Besides, it was more just a sign that she wasn't willing to divulge such information if he were to figure out the truth. Regardless, she didn't spend too much time dwelling on whether or not he would learn it or not.
"You want to know why I'm here," Kon repeated his words. Well, to be frank, she wasn't completely sure herself either. Her body acted more than her mind had, and as such she simply wasn't able to come up with a truth that satisfied herself, much less the person in front of her. "Fresh air. The more trees the better quality air there is. I'm not a battle crazed monster all the time." She spoke, her words taking on a slightly sharper tone at the end of her sentence. As this conversation did not appear to be ending soon, Kon leaned against a nearby tree, trying to make herself comfortable. She would cross her arms, hiding her wounded hand underneath her armpit to keep it out of view once again. "I could ask the same for you as well. Why are you out here Boryoku and why are you so interested in me?"

A simple smile to her little remarks, the idea someone would change their hair color for personal reasons amused him. She then went on to reverse his questions upon himself after lying as to why she was here. She lived here on earth, and that in of itself told him all he needed to know.
"I suppose to answer your first question. I am here because I am lost. I'm seeking answers to questions not my own. But the most important reason is because I wish to know if I continue to kill.... Or to change who I am. Do I follow in my predecessors footsteps or carve my own path?"
He then looked to Kon before smirking, a small chuckle in his throat.
"I thought you were someone else. You are the first living thing I have ever talked to. So I guess you are my guinea pig of sorts. To see if I truly am alive, to see if I can think... Feel... And be capable of being independent of the memories in my mind."
His eyes then looked to the ground before doing a small gesture of confused nature he found himself in.
"I guess that is the reason.."
With a clap of his hands he looked back to her and wondered if she hated him now.
