CHROMO'S PL: 2,600,000 ATK / 3,200,000 DEF (200k BASE | x13 | BATTLE ARMOR USED)
Never did Chromo expect to see the day when he was the calmer brother compared to Tarch. He was starting to feel scared of the unyielding rage he saw seething from his too-good-for-this-world sibling, and just how similar it was to his own from days past. Tarch was supposed to be the nice one out of the two of them- what was he seeing?! The revelation that Vocado was Nashua's killer did not sit well with Chromo either, but that took a backseat to the newfound concern for Tarch. He'd lost count, but surely sixty seconds had passed already by now. Before Tarch could land his next hit, a red blur lurched from the shadows, with claws aiming to latch onto the kick intent to knock Vocado's lights out. Chromo swiftly strengthened his shell as the burn of the scorching ki tore at his limbs, but would try to pull hard enough to divert his brother's path to just barely miss Vocado... Though, if successful, he'd was still sure to try and give the villainous saiyan a quick hostile hiss and slash with one of his singed claws just to make sure Vocado knew that the beetle was no ally of his. "W-what are you DOING, y-y-you dummy?!" Chromo stammered, quickly moving to try and firmly latch himself onto Tarch's arm. "Are you seeing yourself right now?! I'm the one that's 'spossed to get angry and you're the one that's supposed to calm me down, not the other way around!" For once, the beetle was attempting to be the angel on Tarch's shoulder instead of a devil- a voice of reason that even Chromo didn't know he was capable of. The beetle took a deep breath. He didn't have much time to talk in the midst of combat. "Look at me and listen to me, not him. I'm cool, he's not. I bet he's a heathen who thinks Diet Pop Hetap is the best flavor, anyways." Though he made a quick joke, Chromo's tone was surprisingly composed and genuine, yet obviously worried. Using what focus he had to retain their telepathic link, Chromo mentally relayed one call to reason. 'You asked me to save you if things got bad, so that's what I'm doing now. Please-- I hate what he did to Nashua also but you're a heckin' lot better than this and you know it. We can fight together.' A determined gleam flashed in Chromo's eyes as he turned to Vocado. If he wanted to hurt Tarch, either emotionally or physically, he had one very stubborn bug to squash first.
Chromo finally joins the fight, activating Semi-Perfect (x13P) to push his PL to 2,600,000! Chromo's BATTLE ARMOR (+x3 DEF) item activates to push his defensive PL to 3,200,000. Vocado’s successful attack gave him time to think. He was used to being the one enraged, so being on the opposite end of the puddle was interesting. He could tell, vaguely, the type of combat Tarch was going for. Huge, bombastic attacks that’d wear him out quick. All he needed to do was keep his interest the tiniest bit longer; waste even one more drop of Ki, and this fight would shift in a major way. The Saiyan flipped through an imaginary rotary wheel of insults in his head, but came up short when his opponent made a move.
Explosive rage burst from the young lad across from him, and he moved forward, ready to perform a deadly assault.
He moved in erratic patterns, trying to throw off Vocado’s game. It was unfortunate that the once-king was a speed demon himself. He was used to rapid movement, so his eyes kept their target well in sight the whole trip. He just needed to wait for the right moment, and...
Was that... a Bug?
Yes. Yes it was.
Chromo, the vaguely familiar insect, leaped into the way, diverting Tarch’s blow and taking the brunt of the damage. Vocado stepped back, brow raised. This was certainly no friend, but how close to foe was it? The claw mark running down his arm betrayed the possibility of a new opponent, but strangely, the full, truthful answer came with the bug speaking! Not only full sentences, but heartfelt ones too. Incredibly curious, and yet helpful all the same. This was the brother Tarch mentioned.
”Heh. My my. This snow must have an effect on people. Nashua did the same thing for me right before I broke her fragile little heart. Only difference is her opponent actually packed a damn punch.”
This wasn’t good. A voice of reason among the white noise was going to bring him back from the brink! Too soon— much too soon for this to be fun. With a sudden motion, he leaped forward, aiming a solid right hook to clock Chromo in the jaw, hopefully sending him miles away.
”Actually,” Vocado added, flicking his thumb across his nose, ”I’ve always been a fan of Toxic Meltdown Lime. Has a real sting to it. Did you know they took it off the market? Real shame. Perhaps you can join it in the worlds biggest landfill!”
If the bug-boy had been swatted away, he’d loose a simple Ki blast to chase after him. Not enough to cause serious harm, but certainly an intrusion in any mental conversation he might’ve been playing with in his head.
”Can’t kill me, can’t protect your... Brother... What good are you? Another nameless Saiyan who undeservedly awoke the legend.”
Raising his hand, he faced his palm to the sky, and loosed a volley of energy bullets. They rained down on the battlefield shortly after, aiming to pelt both Chromo and Tarch with the annoying interference. Keep them angry; keep them from thinking.
”Just lie down and die! You’d be doing the whole galaxy a favor!”

“Ch-Chromo?”
It was horrifying even if unintentional seeing the bug on the receiving end of Tarch’s fury. But he was defending that thing?! How? After everything he’s done… he would have done the same thing. This wasn’t Tarch. If Nashua could see him now she would no doubt be mortified to see this. Finally, words made their way back into Tarch’s brain. This was all wrong. Bearing tears of hatred poured down the teen’s cheeks as everything that happened came pouring into him.
Before he could say anything though, a hailstorm of energy blasts threatened to hammer the two into the ground. Without another word Tarch put his hands together.
“Galick Gun…” he thrust out his palms, “FIRE!!!” Forcing what little power he had left, Tarch fired the beam that was supposed to be used for noble purposes. To that, all he did was dissipate the blasts, coming nowhere close to hitting the man that taught it to him. Killing Vocado was not a noble purpose. He didn't even need to hit him, he just had to stop him for a moment so he could once more attempt to think clearly.
In the small moment of reprieve, the now weeping saiyan fell to his knees. “He didn’t just kill her!” he slammed his fist into the ground, “he BROKE her! You didn’t see her in heaven! She was so… so…” broken. “He has to pay for what he did! To Nashua, to ME! I’ll make him…”
Tarch stood up, his fist clenched as his muscles seemed to actually shrink.
“I’ll make him…” His hair stood up even more, taking on a sharp golden tone. Once again he couldn’t form words. Only burning tears of betrayal stinging on his lids. This was a different rage, one that didn’t blind him the same way it did before. With one last scream, Tarch’s power would soar, small sparks of lightning trailing around him.
Then… nothing.
The teen fell back to his knees, his hair returning to charcoal black, his power back to normal. Whatever he did, whatever power he clawed at just then was gone as quickly as it came. He was vulnerable, but not alone. Thank the kais he was not alone. He was too tired to speak, only holding out a hand to his brother. A small familiar bean was in his palm, ready to give Chromo a fighting chance.

CHROMO'S PL: 2,600,000 ATK / 3,200,000 DEF (200k BASE | x13 | BATTLE ARMOR USED)
Chromo kept his back turned to Vocado, flat-out ignoring his villainous spiel. Not even his terrible taste in Toxic Meltdown Lime Hetap- not even when Atomic Raze Razzberry was objectively superior- could tear the bug's focus from his adoptive brother. It was like the freshly revived saiyan of hate and anger behind him just didn't exist in whatever little world Chromo was in.
It took Vocado charging at the beetle and clocking him in the jaw to finally get Chromo to notice him. Chromo screeched in shock, his grip on Tarch's arm faltering, but he managed to barely cling on with his four legs and their gecko-like grip, trying to bite at Vocado's arm to give him the message to back off. Part of the underside of his mandibles had cracked slightly from the impact, but it was nothing Chromo couldn't brush off for now.
"Wait wait waitwait TaaaAAARCH--!!" Chromo started to panic as Tarch began to charge a blast in response to Vocado's volley of ki. He did hear everything Chromo had said, right?! Thankfully, though, Tarch managed to use the Galick Gun to fend off the blasts and give them a moment of brotherly respite. Chromo lowered his head to meet his brother's gaze again, still clinging to Tarch's arm. His big, beady eyes stared silently for a few moments.
"I know. I get it. But killing him won't fix her." Memories of the blood spilled in West City resurfaced in Chromo's mind. They'd both been here before. "That's what you taught me, right?"
With his energy fully depleted, the golden glow in Tarch's energy faded despite a few defiant crackles of lightning. Chromo furrowed his brow, protectively standing in front of his sibling, growling lowly at Vocado as he bared his burnt claws.
He caught a glimpse of the offered Senzu bean, but quickly moved to push Tarch's hand back with his wing. You need that more than me, mister i'm not a super saiyan anymore, said the silent, judging glare in Chromo's eyes.
Turning back to Vocado with a hiss, Chromo glared at his enemy. "If you think Tarch can hit hard, you might wanna run, cause I'm waaaaay stronger at full power, dum-dum." He threatened, baring his rows of shark-like teeth.
A very distant, barely audible insect-like buzz began to resound through the area... This wouldn't be a one-on-one for much longer.

A final, futile blast erupted from Tarch’s hands, and suddenly he was spent. His energy fizzled out in a grand display, one that gave Vocado the briefest pause. That flash of Ki right at the end... What was that? Perhaps it was better not to know. Aimless as he was, the boy was incredibly strong. Moreso than even himself a year ago. How did he develop so quickly?
Dreadful as it was to imagine being outclassed by what could be imagined as little more than a toddler, he was glad the battle had reached its zenith so soon. This bug’s taunting implied that he could’ve been a serious threat had the fight prolonged. Luckily, however, all that was left was Chromo. Easy enough to deal with, he supposed.
”Fancy yourself a warrior, roach? Your eloquent speeches make you out to be a failed poet more than a combatant.”
In an instant, Vocado vanished. It was like before; no trace of movement or even the faintest hint of Ki shifting. One second he was gone, and the next, his hand aimed at the back of Tarch’s neck, aiming to knock him unconscious with a single blow.
Succeed or no, he’d try to grasp the boy by the back of his shirt, hoisting him up like an animal caught in a trap.
”He thought himself quite the brawler too. Look where it got him.” He shook the boy for emphasis, before tossing him to the side like a used toy.
”I’ll give you this one chance... Chromo, was it? Run away now and I’ll spare your miserable little life. Scurry away and burrow beneath the snow until hell freezes over.”
His hand raised, level with Chromo as he tilted his head. ”Something tells me you’ll say no. Maybe alongside some sort of quip? Surely even an ant like you can come up with some clever way to deny me. Got anything good? I’m all ears.”
Energy formed in his palm, waiting for the bug-boy to make a move. Why did this little one seem so familiar anyway? The visual style was one thing, but there was something about his drink of choice, too. Hetap, hetap... Why was it ringing a bell?
Better yet, why did he hear buzzing?

“Look who’s talking…” gasped a still fatigued Tarch. His former mentor hid his own brutish cruelty behind poems more than he justified his rage with them.
However, his brother was right. Even if his injuries were superficial, his energy was completely drained. Which only confused Tarch as he thought about it. He mastered super saiyan with Nashua’s help right? He was sure he stopped doing the ultra saiyan thing. So why was he so exhausted? Either way, it was nothing a little bean couldn’t fix. Before he could shove the legume into his mouth, his nearly precognitie energy sensing began to ping at the back of his mind. Something was happening. Something he would not be fast enough to avoid even at full power.
“Chromo wait! He’s faster tha-”
Too little too late. Tarch’s mouth gaped in stupefied surprise. A small droplet of blood and saliva popped out from his throat. He saw it coming but had no possible way of moving in time. The world seemed to slow down, his vision turning to a blur. Before long he would be face down in the snow unless Chromo managed to catch him. Regardless the poor beetle would be forced to fight Vocado alone.
Tarch is KO’d by non kp!.

CHROMO'S PL: 910,000 (x4 MULTIFORMS | 200k BASE | x13P)
"Ok, Milkshakesphere." Chromo teased back in response to the poetry comment. If Chromo was a poet, Vocado was a god dang author. Still he stood guard as his antennae flicked about, seemingly without reason, like radio antennae... Unbeknownst to either saiyan right now, he was radioing many more 'roaches' for Vocado to worry about- if he thought the swarm that killed him was a crowd, boy did he have a big storm coming.
Though the beetle yelped in alarm and started to snarl like a wild animal when Vocado held his brother hostage after another cheaty teleport, Chromo quickly scurried back to Tarch's side, catching him before he could hit the snow.
His growls ceased after a moment. The monologues bought him time to organize his next attack. Vocado would regret challenging him and laying a finger on Tarch soon enough.
After a few moments of silence as Vocado prattled on, Chromo's flicking antennae came to a stop, pointing directly upwards. "I'unno man, didn't you like, also get murdered or something? You can't be that good either, especially with whatever you're saying Miss Nashua did to help you." The beetle oh so innocently tilted his head as Vocado tried to diss his brother's brawling skills. If there was one thing Chromo loved doing, it was bugging people.
The bug's smile was uncomfortably wide, and even more unsettlingly confident, cool, and especially smug. Like there was some super witty joke Vocado wasn't getting, or he had something embarrassing in his teeth as he'd monologued. "I'm very good at burrowing, thank you very much. The earth here is very good for tunnels, you know!" Chromo just snickered as Vocado gave him a chance to escape.
"Ok. I think I got a reeeallllyy good one!" Chromo chirped in response to Vocado's challenge. "Just let me consult my buddies first..."
Not a moment later, the ground beneath Vocado began to give way. Burrowing beneath the unfolding fight the entire time had been many, many more beetles, following their leader's mental commands. And now orders were to attack.
A hundred-some bugs came screaming and snarling from the Earth in a hellish swarm, erupting fourth like a geyser as they quickly moved to swarm around Vocado, biting and gnashing furiously akin to a school of piranhas. Knocking off one bothersome bug would only cause two more to swarm in to take their place- it'd be near-impossible to even see a fleck of snow from within the swarm of chitin and razor-sharp teeth. Even though many of the Lessers were nowhere near as powerful as Vocado, the constant buzzing, nipping, and clawing would hopefully buy just enough time for Chromo's full strike.
"RRRRAAAAUGH!!" Chromo screeched, opening his jaws and firing a burning blast of energy into the swarm. One after the other in rapid succession, another blast and another blast and another blast would fly from the three other empowered Lessers to whittle away at Vocado.
...With that attack done, though, Chromo glanced back to Tarch's unconscious form. Normally he'd love to stay and bully his prey for awhile longer, but getting his brother some rest obviously took priority. With the swarm content to keep clawing and chomping, Chromo would prop Tarch up upon his back, lower his power, and skitter down deep into the deep tunnels his Lessers had dug to attempt escape...

This one was feisty. Most people who made a taunt like the one Chromo did would've incited a snarky response from Vocado, or even a hint of anger. Instead, the Super Saiyan smiled. It was a cute retort. Clever, too. Much more than he expected the little insect to muster. Dryly, he chuckled his orb of Ki vanishing as he crossed his arms. "You are a card, yknow that? I'm almost considering keeping you alive. A little court jester, maybe? That'd be delightful! You could nibble on the ankles of the guests I don't like. You'd like that job, wouldn't you?"
That buzzing from before grew louder, and something else became glaringly obvious. There was a surge of Ki; a veritable swarm of energies moving as a unit upward and outward. His brows furrowed as he stared down toward the snow. Before he could utter any observations of any sort, the ground melted beneath his feet! Hundreds of little Chromos erupted and attached to him, causing the Saiyan to reel back from the sudden assault.
Ripping and punching at his own body, he was successful in keeping most of the bugs at bay, but certainly not all. Dozens would replace a couple in moments, and the growing ambient Ki suggested he needed to be rid of these things fast.
"Hrrr...Grrhhhh!!--GRAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
His muscles bulged as his Ki exploded outward, sending the swarm flying in every direction. The Titan state was far from a favorite of his, but it was needed in... Unique situations like this one. With the moment of clarity provided by his sudden boost in strength, he was able to notice just in time the attacks that'd just been sent his way. One from each direction, a veritable rain of energy beams came at him. Even the fastest man alive wouldn't be able to dodge all of it...
The beams impacted in the center, colliding and exploding in a grand display. Smoke plumed upward, and the swarm continued to attack anything inside.
Chromo would turn to dig to fight another day, but his progress would be halted by a boot suddenly covering the hole he'd turned to. It wasn't like someone stomped down; it was as if the foot had been there for hours.
"Nice trick, Insect."
It was Vocado.
He was no worse for wear. It was as if Chromo and his squad had not only missed, but rather they had aimed in the wrong direction! He placed his index and middle fingers on his temple, leaning into them with what could be interpreted as a prideful smile. Proud of himself, or of his opponent? There was no way to know.
"I've got to hand it to you, Chromo. On another day you might've actually beaten me. You see, I've gained anxiety recently when it comes to crowds. They give me a tickling sensation in my chest. It's how I died, you see."
The two fingers resting on his head moved, aiming at the crowd of Chromos and releasing an energy wave into it. Dozens upon dozens of bugs were sent careening this way and that, some of them colliding into their kin and knocking the both of them unconscious. He laughed a hearty laugh, and turned back to the real Chromo and the hole he was trying to burrow into.
Sliding his foot out of the way, he gave the bug a nod.
"It's as I said; I haven't the need to slaughter children for my goals. All I want is Kayen's head severed from her body by her own blade- Preferably with said blade wielded by me. You'll have Tarch tell her that for me, won't you? That I'm looking to say hello? It's only fair since I'm letting you live and all."
It was a risky maneuver, letting Kayen in on his arrival. Either way, the boys would surely spill the beans to someone. Getting to pick who was involved would at least ease the sting a little bit.
If Chromo hadn't left yet, he'd give him a comforting pat on the head and usher him into the hole. "Just so you know? I could've killed you just now. I hope you understand that means to stay away from this conflict, and not that you should bug me again and again like so many other heroes do." Standing up, he chuckled to himself, and placed his hands on his hips. "Get it? Because you're a little bug. It's funny!"
Turning his attention back to the swarm, he settled into a battle stance, and cracked his neck. "Thanks for sic'ing these things on me. It'll help deal with my anxiety of big groups if I fight a literal army of bugs. Face your fears, and all?"

CHROMO'S PL: 910,000 (x4 MULTIFORMS | 200k BASE | x13P)
Before Chromo could scurry off, there was an annoyingly placed foot in the way of his escape route. The beetle yelped in shock initially, quickly fanning open his wings and arching his back to guard his unconscious brother, turning to Vocado with a snarl. What was with that stupid cheaty-cheaty teleporting?! Regardless of his much more exhausted breaths, Chromo held his ground, growling like a beast as his clones surrounded the pit from the sides.
"Nice cheating, stupidhead." Chromo snarled back. This guy would be free lunch for his swarm without whatever this weird technique was, surely. There wasn't an ounce of fear or uncertainty in Chromo's tone. His quips and snark were an excellent bravado to mask his anxiety regarding his brother's safety. Except Chromo wasn't scared, he was the strongest guy ever after all, he just had to run away for now to make sure Tarch was safe, right?
With a quick screech and flick of his antennae, Chromo managed to send another sliver of strength to the unfortunate clones targeted by Vocado's attack. The empowered Lesser managed to curl into shell before the impact of the Galick Gun, but cracks still spread across it like grass as it was sent flying backwards, landing on the ground with a painful yowl. The rest of the clones bared their fangs as the struck lesser burrowed into the ground, fleeing from the scene with the other damaged bugs.
Vocado briefly mentioned some Kayen person. Chromo didn't comment, just narrowed his eyes. Tarch didn't need any more emotional baggage, and delivering a death threat didn't sound nice. He could handle it himself.
It seemed they were being let go, though. Good! This idiot was smart enough to know fighting Chromo was a death wish. "What I understand is next time I see you I'll fight you for realsies and you'll be super dead." The beetle threatened back. Despite his masked fear, it was a threat spoken with genuine hostility and promise. As he continued, a green glow bubbled in the back of Chromo's throat as his pupils turned a vile green color. His jaws spread open unnaturally wide. "And that if you lay a single finger on my brother EVER again, I'll eat you limb by bloody LIMB until you have nothing left." A demonic echo warbled in his tone as the bug's energy briefly seemed to climb... before lowering back down.
"...Weeeellllp, it wasn't nice meeting you, please go die again sometime, buh-bye!" Chromo waved, before promptly trying to bite Vocado's ankle on his way out as a treat, vanishing as quickly as he'd appeared with the rest of his swarm plowing past Vocado into the deep burrows to flee as well...
Only when Chromo was certain he was far enough away and waited a few extra minutes just to make sure it wasn't some trick, the beetle's form slumped as he breathed out the biggest sigh of relief of his life. Worry was finally allowed to escape from his body as he trembled. If he hadn't been there today, what would have happened to Tarch? What was that monster going to do...?
...He could plan around that later. First things first, making sure Tarch got home alright, getting him grounded, then finding that Kayen person...
Chromo #2 uses DURABILITY to reduce Galick Gun's damage to 907,450 (99% damage). Ouch. Chromo briefly (but flavorfully) taps into CUREBREAKER (x18/x14T) before exiting with his swarm...
