Name: Miru
Species: Earthling
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Starting Planet: Earth

Background: Miru was born into poverty, the sole child of a recently wed couple living in the slums of a minor city on the Southern Islands. Her mother, Nyu, worked as a cleaning aid on movie production sets while her father, Seihin, was an odd-job freelancer. While the family was happy, they were never afforded luxuries or a better living situation early into Miru’s life. The young girl was raised humble, and through the lens of being taken to work quite often with Nyu, grew wistful. The most popular movies produced in the South were martial arts, some documentaries and other action parodies. The fantastical flights of actors both on-set portraying confident and powerful characters and off-set enjoying a great deal of wealth planted a seed of longing in her.
At the young age of eight, Miru became adamant about starting to practice martial arts of her own. The idea was half-inspired by her time on movie sets while the other half was attributed to the big winnings of world-class fighters. The little girl thought that if she tried hard enough, she could one day pull them all up from poverty into a cushioned life. Of course enrolling her in an actual popular school wasn’t an option due to the admissions cost, and finding alternate ways to teach her wasn’t easy either. Inbetween sessions of rigorous homeschooling, she scoured the public library with distant attendance by her father, who had regularly gone in his free time to read already. Reading up on historical books of previous great martial artists and legendary schools, her drive combined with limited access to public computers allowed her to learn of a retired master apparently living on the next island over.
Miru’s proposition to meet them, at the time, was denied. A ten year old had better things to be doing than badgering retired men after all. Seemingly accepting of this logic, the girl took advantage of a day’s absence from the house due to work for both parents and made the trip anyway. Finding a boat willing to take her with no money or guardians wasn’t exactly ideal, and despite her home training in martial arts Miru wasn’t exactly ‘superhuman’ yet despite being far stronger than the average child. Such a realization didn’t deter her, however, and the previously unthinkable option of swimming the gap was taken. This wasn’t just a lap across the pool, however, this was a mile or possibly more of battling against the crashing saltwater waves. Had she known any better Miru might’ve realized this event could very well lead to her death, but such a concept held no weight for the determined child as she fought all the way to the adjacent island. Soaked, tired, and now covered in wet sand Miru continued her journey, searching for the rumoured location of this master’s house in the hilly jungles of the relatively unpopulated island. Through sodden land, vines, trees, and mosquitoes she went - undeterred in her goal. And then through sheer luck and an iron will, she found it. A modest home on the plateau of one of the island’s many hills. Confident in her actions, Miru knocked and awaited a response… only to be told by the resident of the hunter’s cabin that the retired martial artists she was looking for lived in the small town at the bay below.
Needless to say when a tired, dirty, scuffed child showed up at the door… Kuren, former master of the Crane School, initially only wanted to contact their parents. This of course didn’t go very well for the girl, especially when her parents learned that she hadn’t even bothered to take a boat across the ocean. While initially denied training and grounded for the foreseeable future, Kuren took pity and made the journey across to offer his supervised instruction so that ‘something like this wouldn’t happen again’. Miru trained diligently under her new master, and always sought to be humble - never arrogant. Even after learning flight early on as a Crane School specialty, the girl respected her parents’ wishes to not use the technique without their approval. This was a rare opportunity to be given free coaching from a true master of the martial arts, and nothing in the world would be worth jeopardizing it. This was her dream. A chance to hone a skill that was not only fun, but useful in both self-defense AND could net her family the money they needed to no longer barely make ends meet.
Miru continued her training vigorously into adulthood, winning several small-time tournaments and achieving her initial goal of pulling herself and her parents from poverty. More than that, though, she developed a true love for martial arts. And oddly enough, got involved with becoming a B-list actor for several cheesy martial arts flicks produced in the movie giant of the south. It is from here that she took on the role of a local Hero, assisting the police when necessary and dampening the effects of natural disasters with her Ki. Miru does not and for the foreseeable future shall not see herself as someone capable of defending Earth against major threats. That type of power rested in the hands of Super Saiyans and their equals, not a human like her.
Techniques
Dodonpa [A1]: The signature technique of Crane School, Miru concentrates a small amount of Ki into a pinpoint on an index finger, firing it with great precision and power. Hits for 33% of her Power Level.
Super Dodonpa [UA2]: A more powerful variant to the standard Dondonpa - and a simple solution of pouring more energy into the point of contact before the attack is fired. Hits for 66% of Miru’s Power Level.
Ultra Dodon Blast [MA3]: The most powerful variant of the Dodonpa that requires four fingers and a thumb to simultaneously charge energy, firing individual beams which converge into a single destructive wave that explodes on impact for 100% of Miru’s Power Level.
(7k - 35k) Kikoho [SIG] (Adapt. Piercing, NPNG): An extremely powerful blast of energy that is said to reduce the user’s lifespan with each use. Miru forms a diamond or cone shape with one to two hands, focusing on a target before unleashing a solid beam of pure power. This technique hits for 100%, ignores 50% of enemy barriers, can add up to 99% damage taken from an oncoming offensive technique.
Transformations
Work-Up (x2T): A simple burst of energy with no notable changes that serves as Miru’s “all-out” form while technically staying in base.
Hi-Tension (x3P): A heightened state of power in which Miru amplifies her body with Ki to an nth degree, gaining a small field of yellow sparks that occasionally crackle around her.
